Suggest reading the study done by New York firm, Commonwealth Fund called “Mirror mirror”. The summary is that US healthcare among peers is comparably poor on almost every measure. In particular efficiency and healthcare outcomes. Bottom line - it’s too expensive on both patients and the tax payer and the country is getting far too little for what they pay.
