Stink dog you are a legend. I lost my leg racing motocross. I just bought a 1997 warrior ATV and went to red Bud this weekend and placed 14th in the nation. The best move is when everyone got stuck in ruts. I whipped it in reverse backed up jumped right in past three people. Yeah I got last place but I still got 14th Pl. because you don’t place if you don’t show up. I showed up just to get last place

That is exactly how we were when we were kids! All we wanted to do was ride! We didn’t have training facilities back in the late 70’s early 80’s. We got home from school, got our friends and went and rode in the hills by our house. We had natural tracks that were made with what terrain was there. No tractors or shovels. We’d go ride and there would be Mike Kiedrowski, Larry Brooks, Mouse McCoy, Willie Surratt, Mercedes Gonzales out there riding. We had so much fun! That was training to us! All we did was ride! And it was fun! Stankdog is the man!

My first year of racing, I had a 3year old Suzuki PE250. I rode the wheels off it and usually finished in 20 something place with a full gate. Next year I bought a 82 RM250 and ram up front, what a difference a good bike makes!

I love his story, sounds like how I started. My dad brought home a old Z50. My first race in that thing we saw all the real bikes and next day we went down to Abington Va, and got a ktm from Mark Osborne. If it wasn’t for Zach and his dad I would have never got into racing when I was younger.

I see that every weekend in any local track, Guys on 450 struggling and getting passed by a 125, Usable power is the key, Steve Lamson won the Desnations on a 125 vs all 500cc field with best riders in the world, Jeff Emig did the same at Lorettas last year, I do the same every weekend, Pro league is something out of our hands, This guy will smoke everyone on a local race, I respect every guy who ride in Supercross or Pro Motocross, A P30 on the nationals is a king on any local track, You need to qualify first, Is not easy at all.

My first year of racing in 1976 on an MR50, I'd come last every race. I fell off at every corner. Flaggers would get ready to catch me, by the end of I was evening lapped by Z50/QA50 4 strokes! By 1979, I won my 1st state title. Hard work, plus I just loved riding my dirtbike. Simple as that. Other Dads pressured their kids etc and told them off if they didn't win or at least top 3 etc. Obviously those kids ended up giving the sport up.

I had the same thing happened to me. My first race was May 9th, 1977 at Oak Hill in Decateur TX it was on a modified 1974 XR 75 with a Bassoni( misspelled) pipe, upgraded carb, and rear suspension in the mini junior class. I was 9 years old. It was so slow I probably got lapped twice, the very next race I was on a brand new Yamaha YZ80 D. I did better but still got waxed. Like you 3 yrs lare I won a State championship in the 100 jr class(15 and under) I had just turned 13 about 2 months before the end of the series, I started it at 12.

My first race was on my 2015 DRZ70, and keep in mind it is just a 50 with a slightly larger engine. I was 8 or 9. They had me practice with the 65s, which had to climb a big sandy hill. My bike didn't make it up so they finally let me race with the 50s, which I did a bit better in

Similar experience... my son 7 yr. old first race on a bmx. I bought him a redline chromoly frame with steel cranks and wider tires. He lines up and all the other kids are on jr. minis with skinny slicks and alloy crank sets. needless to say they blew him away. next week we show up with new powerlite jr. mini all aluminum frame alloy cranks alloy forks clip ins and full fox race out fit with troylee helmet. He smoked the field and won the main every week after that. He went from plat 135 to plate 7 on second season. He finished 19th overall at the nationals in a field of 150. his first season. good gear and strong work ethic was the key.

Sadly I think that sentiment is (I'm merely assuming) similar to many sports.
For me as an example, being a Canadian who was practically born on a frozen pond, successful playing hockey blah blah blah, I went from 100% to never even watching a game again. It's a shame too because there was a time when I (like Stankdog, this isn't about me) wanted to do NOTHING but ride in the summer or play hockey in the winter 24/7! And then you just stop. Weird shit boys!

I totally understand doing something so much that you hate it. When I was in high school I was a competition swimmer and I was actually really good. I was a freshman beating seniors. (Not trying to brag). I would train everyday for hours and not have time to hang out with friends. My mother always yelling at me to do more to possibly get a scholarship or go to the Olympics. I ended up hating swimming that I quit. It just wasn’t fun anymore. I wouldn’t go near a pool for the longest time. Now I’m fine with it and hang out in the pool for fun. Im happy I picked up a motocross tho I love it so much and I’m not trying to win practice I’m just going out on the weekends and trying to make good memories with my Moto buddies

4strokes ruined it totally. 2bangas are awesome fun to ride or race. My cousin and I both used to race 07 yz125 in about 2015 C grade, against C,B grade sometimes A. We were only one's on 2strokes, everyone else on new 4strokes. We raced a few times against best in Australia at Noble Falls track for $10000 to winner of A grade 450 race. After we finished our race they said if couple of spots in gates for 10grand. We both went in it. It was funny to see how serious everyone was, getting massages between races, stretching and going over bikes constantly yelling at mechanics or dads if something happened or they don't win. We would be inside my van smashing the billy's back so we would relax and race within ourselves. These day's it sux. Give them all a bong before starting, would stop alot of crashes and bad attitudes. Keep rippin fella's Avagud1

The 250f’s probably wouldn’t be gone. 4 strokes are just objectively better bikes for supercross due to their low end torque plus factory 250f’s are pushing HP numbers that are similar to 250 2 strokes

"Kids career's end cause I pass them on a 125" is a laughable statement. Does he mean after he's been lapped? Dude only made one main event the entire supercross season, i believe... He wasn't even relevant. He's a side show and that's all he'll ever be. He probably only rides a two stroke so that he can have a built in excuse for losing.

I agree, if he didn't ride the 2 stroke, nobody would know who he is. The 2 stroke, it's like he barely qualifies, but it's overhyped cause he is on a 2 stroke. Not like he would jump to top 10 (even top 25) if he got on a 4 stroke.

@@lukasreagan1715 they are different, but saying people can hardly get around a track on them. I grew up riding 125s. I ride 450s now, but can still ride a 2 stroke. Did a couple KTM demos at redbud, had no problems on the 125 doing most the jumps I usually do. I get if you never rode a 2 stroke before. James Stewart waxed everyone on a 2 stroke 125 against 250fs. But honestly would you know who this dude who barely qualifies for nationals is if he wasn't on a 2 stroke? Probably not.
