I've been a play-by-play broadcaster in the WHL for the past five years. Never seen a player like Bedard come through this league. He was miles upon miles better than everyone on the ice. Sold out rinks everywhere Regina went. Generational talent in every sense of the word.
MORE!!! I like seeing hockey cards because Upper Deck hasn't gone hog wild with parallels...instead they get creative with various inserts and subsets. It's a bit more fun to open then a lot of the baseball product.
what's crazy is Allure which is UD's kinda "answer" to Prizm, that has all the color parallels is not very popular among hockey collectors. O-Pee-Chee Platinum is kind of the same but has a little more hobby love but still nothing like the Young Guns.
As an active collector of NHL hockey cards in the early to mid-1990s (including cards from the 70s and 80s), I haven’t tracked hockey cards for about 25-30 years since the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas thanks to Norm Greed. But the Bedard phenomenon is real. I’ve been watching a bunch of breaks to see what people are pulling in terms of Bedard. There are some very pricy Bedard cards out there. Go ahead and break more of the new hockey stuff. Landing a quality Bedard rookie card would be awesome.
That Mcmann YG is a good pull. Besides Bedard, there’s Leo Carlsson and Pavel Mintyukov. They don’t fetch nearly as much, but they’re up there. Young Guns are what you’re chasing in these UD sets.
Nice rip! Value for money really depends on price point of the hobby boxes as that’s where the parallels and big hit cards are. Just for YGs, tins may be best as the majority have four YGs and you get a chance at the Bedard dazzler parallels. The black dazzlers look awesome
The hype is real. I've watched so many breaks of S2 Hobby and it appears that Bedard's YG is about 1.5 per case, with 6 YGs/box. I opened 4 blasters and got 8 YGs and 1 YG Canvas, but still chasing CB. It's tough for sure, but I liked the YG dollar/card value of the blasters. I've got a case of tins coming. If I don't hit a Bedard in that, I am going to be very sad. 😆
I need to vent. I found tins online for $89 cad ... $89. I put my kids to bed, read a book, made a tea, and went on to get them and they were sold out. This morning they're back on but now $200 ...
As a Canadian it has been interesting to see even non-hockey Americans gravitate to Bedard. Of course this all comes down to money. If there's an opportunity to make a profit anyone can be pulled in.
Stryker, I love the chase as well but my budget wasn't much. I went into my local card shop and bought 1 pack for $30. Pulled a pink dazzler of Bedard... Bedard is a hard pull. Only 50 YGs and 6 per hobby. Thus, the math makes him almost a case hit...
0:54 Kudos for ripping something out of your comfort zone. UD has some snazzy inserts and parallels I wish Topps would do. (PC’s for example) It’s a fun diversion, but I don’t think I’d buy more. That’s just me. Thanks for the video! ✌️😎🏒
I've been ripping hockey for about 4 years now, started back in 2020 when Alexis Lafreniere was supposed to be a huge prospect. With the price of the Series 2 hobbies I'd say the best format is the tins. Retail is roughly $60,depending on the store, get 3 YGs, and the Dazzlers pack. So if you don't hit the Bedard YG you might hit the orange Dazzler from the bonus pack. If hobby boxes were $100 like they usually are, then hobby is the best rip. Also the jumbo blasters or megas are decent too. Regular blasters are the worst IMO Also look up the value of every Young Gun, there's usually at least a handful of guys that go for $10 and up.
About the same here man, really went all in on Suzuki and makar (good choice haha) and Elias in 2018. And then in 2020-21 series 2 I went nuts for kirill, but it seems the odds in blasters have hit the crapper and the best odds seem to be tins (unless those sumbitches put em mainly in hobby 🤣) good luck to those on the chase, but I honestly don't think he's going to be better than Ovi or McDavid and atm their rookies can be had for Bedard prices, which is absolutely INSANE!
@joedill4311 I think the kid is gonna be a good one, but you're right for around $900-1k I can get a McDavid YG PSA 9. It's just nuts what people have been paying for Bedard. McDavid has been the best in the league since coming in, and he is still in his prime at only 27 yo. People get way too caught up in the hype.
I liked this very much. I hope you do some more hockey, even some of the more premium UD upcoming releases. I'm not sure, but I guess they'll have Bedard also. This series 2 looks nice, Upper Deck makes quality cards. Hobby might be too pricey for me now, so I'll look for retail. Thanks, StrykerMan!
I love ripping hockey, hobby are my favorite but sometimes retail stuff is ok. I just enjoy the parallels better out of hobby. I would sleeve up all the Brock Fabers if no one has said to yet. Would love to see more hockey content.
Shocker a ripper who doesn't rip hockey is ripping hockey cause of Bedard. Part of the reason collectors won't be collecting Series 2 like usual this here. Too expensive and hard to find. But I do like Stryker. Just as a hockey collector it's frustrating.
Bedard is the real deal but its either Bedard or bust with any of this series. There's a handful of solid secondary YG's (Benson, Carlson, Minten, Poitras, Cooley (canvas)) but those are selling for $50 or less. This series is crazy over priced for what you're typically going to get and better off just getting the singles, especially as the Bedard price keeps dropping.
12% to get a bedard at $325 a box. bedards have dropped to about $650 USD on ebay. so either spend $650 to have a 24% chance at Bedard or just buy the single.
For the price I wouldn't rip any more unless you can find them for a better price, of course it comes down to how you feel about these cards compared to the cost to keep hunting. I think and feel you got more/better cards in the hobby than what you got in the tin of course I know nothing about hockey or the different formats and products that are out there. Excellent video, keep up the great work and you and your family have a good, safe and blessed rest of yer week.
My Dream came true! You’re opening hockey! I hope this isn’t a one-time thing 😊 I hope you get into hockey, most products have nice Game Used Materials (unlike other sports nowadays) and hockey players sign cards better then any sport imo
Man how is it other people pull the kool Jason Robertson cards that orange Dazzler look awesome. and I can’t even pull one lol 😂I’ve been trying to pull at least one of his cards and still nothing. But I’m not giving up one of these days I’ll pull a Jason Robertson card and a Auto of Jake Oettinger my all time favorite Goalie as of late lol 😂
Hilarious story. Visited the lcs on Sat saw the hockey blaster boxes picked one up to read it and they go ohhhh u looking for bedard I'm like who? I don't watch hockey. I say fine to humor u let me buy this box. First pack...bedard young guns 😅
Besides inserts i'm guessing that only about 3 or 4 cards that will have future value. I hate the Portrait cards. They are very lame and limp wristed so to speak.
I've been a play-by-play broadcaster in the WHL for the past five years. Never seen a player like Bedard come through this league. He was miles upon miles better than everyone on the ice. Sold out rinks everywhere Regina went. Generational talent in every sense of the word.
That Yzerman was a tough pull. The retired canvas are two per case I think. As a fellow wings fan I need one of those too
yes sir retired canvas are tough!
Just sent my topps Yzerman rookie back awhile it came back a PSA 9 was happy
Upper Deck really needs to get their NBA license back... They did it right in the early 2000s late 90s.
MORE!!! I like seeing hockey cards because Upper Deck hasn't gone hog wild with parallels...instead they get creative with various inserts and subsets. It's a bit more fun to open then a lot of the baseball product.

In 4 tins I've pulled 2 Conner Bedard young guns, 1 o-pee-chee glossy, 1 ud portrait and a orange dazzler
Good golly son!
Nice rip! Value for money really depends on price point of the hobby boxes as that’s where the parallels and big hit cards are. Just for YGs, tins may be best as the majority have four YGs and you get a chance at the Bedard dazzler parallels. The black dazzlers look awesome
YES KEEP CHASING! LOVE SEEING THIS UNIQUE STUFF ONCE IN A WHILE! CHASING MYSELF TOO!
Keep chasing. Was fun to see a good, different product that didn’t suck like the Panini BBall and Football cards.
I liked it a lot more than Panini. Upper Deck does it right.
These Upper Deck cards look way better than any of the boring Panini Prism stuff. It makes me wish UD still had an MLB license.
Stryker doing hockey, worlds colliding! Solid box, love the Stevie Y and completely agree that UD messed up by not numbering the Dazzlers.
The hype is real. I've watched so many breaks of S2 Hobby and it appears that Bedard's YG is about 1.5 per case, with 6 YGs/box. The retired canvas yzerman has a bit of value. Tough pulls. I put the 15 card checklist retired canvas insert set together every year. Nice card.
lol the beginning is perfect
Nice rip love the Yzerman retired canvas!!!
I like the Blasters boxes that's where I got my Bedard Young Guns card and Glossy Rookie. Sold both for $750.
Congrats on the Stevie Y retired Canvas, huge pull!!
Yes. You can DO IT!!!!!
As a guy from Chicago, I love this! A case would be awesome to watch
The clear cut cards usually fall 1 per box. The real chase is the clear cut Young Guns that fall 1 per case.
I thought it said clears were 1:36 packs. Either way I dig 'em
I need to vent. I found tins online for $89 cad ... $89. I put my kids to bed, read a book, made a tea, and went on to get them and they were sold out. This morning they're back on but now $200 ...
Yes, keep chasing! I like the change-up.
As a Canadian it has been interesting to see even non-hockey Americans gravitate to Bedard. Of course this all comes down to money. If there's an opportunity to make a profit anyone can be pulled in.
Yeah, Bedard looks like the second coming of Wayne Gretzky in some ways.
Stryker, I love the chase as well but my budget wasn't much. I went into my local card shop and bought 1 pack for $30. Pulled a pink dazzler of Bedard... Bedard is a hard pull. Only 50 YGs and 6 per hobby. Thus, the math makes him almost a case hit...
theoretically you should be able to pull all 50 YGs in a case, with a handful of duplicates.
5:40 is that Stryker wearing a helmet on a hockey card??? Damn sure looks like him…😂
Fun to watch keep ripping them!
Hang on to that Bobby McMann card he is a HUGE suprise and shows some serious talent it might be worth something one day.
Love this! Hope to see more hockey!
Nice rips and video! I have watched every format, and I am leaning toward the tins, hangers and megas. Thank you for sharing
Awesome! Thank you!
I pulled Bedard die cut 94-95 out of retail mega box $40 box
Love it when someone can change their mind!
Bedard YG or Julio gold /2022. Which do you pull first?!
0:54 Kudos for ripping something out of your comfort zone. UD has some snazzy inserts and parallels I wish Topps would do. (PC’s for example)
It’s a fun diversion, but I don’t think I’d buy more. That’s just me. Thanks for the video!
✌️😎🏒
Being Canadian this is crazy lol 😂 people pre ordered than most got canceled than the price increased on the boxes.
The intro had me, love it Stryker
Love seeing some hockey on the channel. Looking forward to future rips until you hit the Bedard

Where did you get your retail tins?
Ordered a case online. Daveandadams I think
@@StrykerBreaks how much?
Seen a dazzle silver yg come out of a tin!
Loved the Hockey content, Stryker!! Certainly do more, if you can!!
I liked this very much. I hope you do some more hockey, even some of the more premium UD upcoming releases. I'm not sure, but I guess they'll have Bedard also. Keep chasing - nice to see someone I watch for baseball opening hockey
Nice cards ! Have a good week Mr Stryker!!!
Thanks, you too!
Love the hockey break! Keep cracken, the Bedard hype is real
I love ripping hockey, hobby are my favorite but sometimes retail stuff is ok. I just enjoy the parallels better out of hobby. I would sleeve up all the Brock Fabers if no one has said to yet. Would love to see more hockey content.
I’d keep chasing in the retail side until you get a Bedard.
The best of retail is at least U can pulled the Connor B sliver but if your trying to pull anything with numbers it’s probably hobby only.
Rip it until you get a good bedard. Preferably the 1:1
Things escalated quickly.
Shocker a ripper who doesn't rip hockey is ripping hockey cause of Bedard. Part of the reason collectors won't be collecting Series 2 like usual this here. Too expensive and hard to find. But I do like Stryker. Just as a hockey collector it's frustrating.
Some HOCKEY!!! Finally. Series 2 this year is pretty weak. Bedard or bust for sure... especially with that price. Leo Carlsson would be nice.
Ive seen alot of bedard coming from tins...i watched 2 case of hobby and not 1 bedard.
I watched 6 tins and 3 bedards...

Thanks for the encouragement!

Another Hockey vid coming soon...editing it right now
@@StrykerBreaks Heck Yeah! I can’t wait!
Did not expect this collab but we need more hockey content lmaoo
I've got the itch to rip some more of it.
Keep chasing
More of this
Never say never 😂
I live in michigan, blackhawks guy it's closer , we watch chicago sports here not mi
I bought 4 boxes and got nothing… baseball at least you are guaranteed something but this was just bs.. so disappointed.
UP ever going to get baseball rights again?
Besides inserts i'm guessing that only about 3 or 4 cards that will have future value. I hate the Portrait cards. They are very lame and limp wristed so to speak.
Bad packs
Upper deck is straight trash. Thru and thru the worst in the biz
Really? Why?
Need to find a lucky hockey item to rub on packs for good luck.
