      Gotta have a product or service people are willing to pay for. I know a ton of broke people who “believe” in what they do. Virtues don’t pay the rent.

      @@AFuller2020 You don't give up, you keep on going until you achieve it. That's what faith is, that is what truly believing is, that is what having a passion and love is. There are a lot of non rich people who are doing what they love and who have changed the world in history. This does not mean just creating a product for the world. It's about finding what you love and staying true to yourself. That is the message. In my opinion of course.

    He was also a marketing genius which is why Apple made it so big. He knew how to market his brand by using emotion. Sure he came up with gizmos we use today, but that would have been nothing if it wasn't for his way of marketing his brand. The guy knew how to sell ice cubes to an eskimo.

      Lovemarks by Kevin Roberts, former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi;
      Marketing Without Money by Tom Patty, former Pres of Chiat Day, which did the marketing for Apple and Nike; and
      Seth Godin's Purple Cow.

    #10 "Stay hungry. Stay foolish." Every time I hear that commencement address and his three stories it reaffirms what I have learned by being "of age". Only connecting the dots by looking back = TRUE! A major disappointment can be the best thing that every happened to you = TRUE! And now being older, the fact you could die soon so look at what you want and need to do as if you days are numbered = TRUE TRUE TRUE. Thanks, Evan.

Often we take things for granted and not take the time we have to follow our passions in life, but instead focus on the almighty dollar. There are more fulfilling things in life we can spend our time on to make change and making money could be a consequence of our hard work and dedication to the thing we love most in life.

    What a remarkable man. I caught his commencement speech in 2009 as I was wrapping up my tenure at a tech incubator in Silicon Beach, just when the company was about to go belly up. That same year I chose to move from Windows to Mac & haven't looked back since.
    Steve truly had creative vision which is something that's missing from the current chiefs at Apple. It's going to be interesting to watch the company change as new leadership steps up.
    Seeing the speech for the 1st time to my surprise, helped to draw some distinct parallels between mine & Steve's life I wasn't expecting...the love for beautiful typography in design being one. That and crafting stories to create an engaging experience being another.
    It's funny how even the tiniest seeds when planted in the right place at the right time can grow to such amazing proportions.
    Thanks for putting this together Evan.

    Thanks for posting this. !!! I turned down a job as a prototype technician with the Macintosh group in Cupertino in January of 1983. Jobs was a total clownass when he interviewed me. I built the first color pc at Polo Microsystems that ran Windows in 1983 and showed my 4 prototypes at Comdex in December. Both Steves were blown away. The next company I worked at was Identix in Palo Alto. I built the first electronic fingerprint reader that was certified by the Feds and FBI. Silicon Valley was a BLAST in the 1980s and now it is Flying high again..

    One of the greatest speeches by a leading innovator-CEO, filled with personal lessons and insights!
    So powerful, so inspirinmg for young folks, and anybody, who still is striving and struggling to
    find the things one loves and create personal fulfillment!
    You got to find what YOU LOVE! Only this way You create great work.
    Don´t settle for anything less...! Don´t settle!

    These comments are hilarious in regards to Steve Jobs haters. Here's a list for you.
    HOW TO BE AN ANGRY LOSER IN LIFE:
    1.) Sit on the sidelines and judge people that are actually in the game
    2.) Think you are better than them because you are judging from the sidelines
    3.) Tell everyone how bad the players are and how easy the game is that you are judging
    4.) Complain about how "rich people" copied, steal, and killed to get their millions
    5.) Finally get in the game, and get spanked because you don't have the backbone
    6.) Reaffirm the fact you don't have what it takes and continue to spew garbage to the world
    7.) See successful people keep pressing on developing great things while you haven't done jack
    8.) Sit on the sidelines still and judge
    9.) Sit on the sidelines still and judge
    10.) As your life comes to an end, spew your garbage to you children and grand kids about how rich people are wrong, and your pathetic life is right, implementing the same pathetic cycle you were in.
    ADVICE: Get your head out of your ass and get in the game. Learn self development, set goals, and get in the game. Get in the game. Get in the game. Get in the game.

      Disruptive personalities can change the world and usually piss a lot of people off in the process. He clearly changed the world, was very difficult to work for, never accepted that things weren’t possible. The iPod to the iPhone and iPad transformed everyone’s life. Good and bad.
      This man wasn’t a saint or a holy man, he was an energy that was here to transform, to leave a mark. Any of you android customers would t be operating on a device as simple yet complex as you have unless someone did the impossible first. He did that. If you can’t love him for Apple, love him for Pixar. Every kid can learn something from him, kids who haven’t given up on their dreams.

      Well said. I listened to the first few sentences at the beginning and I thought to myself, "what a total croc". The iPod was simply a hard drive with designed plastic over it. The hard drive couldn't have cost more than $100 but Apple sold them for $400-$500. I can't believe people eat this shit up and act like Jobs is bigger than God.

      I've got PC and Apple and in a lot of cases, just like he said in the video that you two were watching, to bring a PC up the specs,security,smoothness and enjoyability as a Mac, you can often spend as much if not more. That's a fact. So yes they cost more than most PCs, but not the PCs that are real performers. I love things about both.

    • @Mugetsuism
      @Mugetsuism 8 років тому +5

      +jdssurf Enjoyability is an objective factor. Spending more doesn't necessarily increase that. Smoothness and security? Yes, Apple products definitely have that.
      But specs? You can't be serious. I built my desktop tower for £900. An Apple equivalent would be close to £2000. £1100 does not account for the premium feel/security for me :s

    • @jdssurf
      @jdssurf 8 років тому

      +Asfandyar Khan specs in certain catagories. and smoothness, for lack of better term, is pretty damn enjoyable, and theirs a reason more musicians and the movie industry uses mac over pc on and off stage, and its not just to be cool. the shit comes stock with what you need. anyways like i said i like both. i just get tired of seeing the douch bags that are so one sided. especialy if they are not involved deeply with both snd never have been. shit i just woke up, tired, too many typos to go back and correct. now what i truly hate, this droid phone lol.
