The best cover performance of DRC on the internet. Caught the shuffle, swing and double snare drum beats like no one else does. 99% of drummer covering this get it wrong. This is perfect, Fantastic talent, well done.
It surprises me of how many people play this song wrong. Alex has it down to a science. It’s a swing groove played at 180 bpm. Don’t sleep on Peter. Dude has some chops. Alex you’re definitely giving this justice. 🤘🏿🤘🤘🏻
The Peter Criss what? I’ve heard of the Purdie shuffle named after one of the most iconic technical studio musician drummers ever. You have to actually be good to have a drum technique named after you. The only shuffle Criss did was to shuffle his way out of the band! 🤣
Peter Criss and this groove "100,000 Years" are what made me want to play drums. Great job Avery and the cameraman for getting those important views. Don't forget the bass though.
I've been watching you here since you were six now at 14 you're still great and as handsome as ever. Peter Criss would be proud of you Avery! Rock on my man!
Smashed it! Thanks Avery ☺ Been in my top 5 Kiss tunes for 30 years. Lovely to see it played with the focus on the drummer. Gives us merely human people a shot ar learning the Right way to play it 👍😉💙
Really excellent Avery!! I've been watching your videos since you were a little boy and back then you blew me away! I though "God, how is this kid interpreting and playing this music like that"? It's very clear how much you've developed even more over the years with such great feel, timing and solidity! You're a prodigy man! Very enjoyable to watch and hear!
The other KISS drummers played it with the kick which I also love. The version on Alive III is my favorite. But Avery plays the original to the letter and he does a fabulous job as always.
Wow... nice job dude. Love the ghost strokes on the snare. Very tasty, and you're an excellent drummer for 14 years old. No question about that. Cheers 🙂
Wow! This is great and amazing! The drumming and it's sound quality! If only the original recordings sounded this good! They should hire to re-do them!
*Avery* I had this record when it first came out on 8 track. The thing I remember the most is that thundering bass drum on Detroit Rock City. It just sounded heavy but since that bass drum has been toned down quite a lot. I wish you could have heard that 8 track tape. You would hear what I mean. By the way have you ever done these songs yet? Judas Priest live *Judas is Rising* and Stryper *Rock The Hell Out Of You* . . . Two Killer songs by two killer bands.
Nicely done. This is a very difficult song to play because it's fast and long. I have smoke coming out of my left wrist when i play this song. Lots of people don't play the ghost notes right but you nailed it.
The drumming is so solid and professional that it's hardly worth talking about. Solid production video and audio. I'm really enjoying the camera work. Using the drum rack for a transition/ establishing shot. I thought the high hat cam was great. The cut to it was fantastic. I like the moving camera thing. It adds something different to the genre of cover videos. My criticism is too much movement. Personally I like when you move from shot to shot, holding each shot for several seconds then on to the next and so on. Hope this helps. Sorry if my criticism is unwelcome.
Avery, been following you since you were I believe 9 or so, but hey, so you should do a cover of KISS/Ace's "Torpedo girl" I want to hear you do that intro exact to the album!!! Simple for you, but would love to see you cover it! Great job as always!!
My brother just sent me a pic of you and him, he met you at a pizza shop in McMurry. You are an excellent drummer, i play drums also. Keep up the good work.
Avery what is that part of the very beginning about the car crash? I am a huge kiss fan as my brother was too. Lost him in 2011 but I carry on the kiss army. lol Great job man
I think the last time you did that song it was with Karl, Luke, and Lee. Do you still keep in touch with those guys, Maybe you should do a collaboration again, All four of you are super talented, you were then and have progressed so much since. Just a thought.
Excellent. Lots of drummers have covered this, but rarely play the swing feel correctly. As usual you do. Top notch always.
These ghost notes in the snare are f*cking killer! No unnecessary fills, just the essentials, as it should be. Nice cover! 🥁
Finally a cover that includes the Peter Criss shuffle! 😻🥁💋
Was it Peter Criss?´That's why! Great indeed!
@@flavy1000 Peter didn't play drums on Detroit Rock City on Destroyer. They had a session drummer play like Peter would play.
Can you explain what is that shuffle?
@@dominikaksiazek7177 a ghost / tap note

That was Dynasty and Unmasked
Anton Fig
I see Peter Criss *smiling* at his computer about now.
*Charles* why? Peter didn't play the drums on the studio version it was a session drummer that was told to play like Peter would have played.
Lol
@@jetcitysinatra7300 From dynasty onwards that happened. Peter Criss played in destroyer. Long life the true Catman

@@jetcitysinatra7300 Because, he loved the session.
Dude two things 1. Yes !!! The slightly swung feel!!!!!
2. The accents w the bass on the snare in the verses!!!Nailed it. Dude your a natural!!!

Sounded great, one of my favorites from KISS.

Complete with the Peter Chris shuffle absolutely awesome!!!

Avery has those ghost notes down! Excellent!
Brings back memories of the "Kiss Alive" Concert
It wasn’t even on Alive noob.
@@thefonzkiss if he was in an alive, but the one in symphony
Snare and kick work were just ✨🤌✨. Too bad the concert was cancelled. Hopefully Paul recovers quickly. Good luck on your sophomore year.
Both Paul and Gene now.
Incredible as always! Such a sweet groove, and sidenote, one of my favorite KISS songs! Well played!
I have been watching you STEADILY improve for the last 8 years. You are just INCREDIBLE!!! Keep it up!!!
One of the best performance I have seen at last 10 years. Amazing talent.

Thanks for sharing brother. Amazing video. Keep them coming. Hope you have an amazing weekend
Verry good! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Kiss forever
I love hearing that hi-hat, good foot control with the hi-hat.
I’ve always thought for years that shuffle was done with the kick drum. Now I know it was the snare.
How about covering Metallica- Frantic👍👍🤘🏿🤘🏿
@Howard the duck I looked thru his videos, I don’t see it🤷♂️
The other KISS drummers played it with the kick which I also love. The version on Alive III is my favorite. But Avery plays the original to the letter and he does a fabulous job as always.
What is that shuffle?
Are you planning on doing a tribute to The Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts?
Yah - do Sympathy for the devil \^^/ that rumble is epic
Avery just simply amazing !!!
Great job Avery. You make it look so easy.
YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!
