  • Boku no Natsuyasumi is a series of adventure games from Millenium Kitchen which casts you in the role of a boy Boku going on summer vacation in the Japanese countryside. The story is told from the perspective of an adult man reminiscing his childhood days. The place and the characters are different in every game, but the general idea is always same. You are put in a beautifully detailed world and given a 31-day limit(advanced forward through a day/night cycle framework) to ensure that Boku's vacation doesn't go to waste and will be one to remember. Explore the environments at your leisure, make friends with the local kids, swim in the coastal waters, partake in festivities, collect bugs and pit them against those of other children in beetle sumo. All memorable events are written down in Boku's diary at the end of each day. Skip too many and the pages will remain blank or half-empty.
The first game in the series came out in 2000 for the original Playstation and was followed up by Boku no Natsuyasumi 2 for the Playstation 2 in 2002. In 2006 Sony ported the original game to the Playstation Portable with minor improvements. A year later came the release of Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 for the Playstation 3. In 2009 - Boku no Natsuyami 4 for the PSP. And finally, in 2010 - a port of Boku no Natsuyasumi 2 to the PSP.
There's also a spin-off of sorts called Bokura no Kazoku for the Playstation 2, but it plays very differently from the main series.

I think it's the sort of game you should play if you wanna learn japanese. If you guys are looking for something different, search for indie games and visual novels, belive me. This game is beautiful, btw.

    ゲームの会話やBGMが、そのまま流れて、変な邪魔なアフレコがないから、とても気持ち良く見てられました。また、やりたくなりました。
