Mini Beatmania?? What's next, a Tetris handheld shaped like a McNugget??
You bet your Wang it is
They also had a miniature DDR handheld at the time.
😦 _YOU'RE BREAKING THE 4TH WALL!!_ 😅
_(yea, not really, but just roll with it... lol)_
i wang you to be wong but idk i have a nugget of thought that it might be next
Wang get along with the pckcell

james and wade uploading simultaneously 2 nuggets ? my body can't handle this much nuggetry.
I like how this had 20 likes as well 😂
had the exact same taught!
help I'm overdosing on nuggets
Wade got his nug from James it's really a double James day
fr
I saw the black and white screen of the "video" and my first immediate thought was "huh... wonder if someone could put Bad Apple on it"
I think we should have a new Rule of the internet, that goes "every bitmap display _must_ show Bad Apple at some point" lol
Since it's just an epoxied chip on board I don't think there'd be any remotely reasonable way to load anything onto it. Could probably hijack the display lines though.
"and would it be properly charted (playable)"
@startedtech yeah the video and audio are almost certainly on integrated ROM
@@startedtech That's what I was thinking, just find a way to plug something into the display lines and have the pixels correspond to the video output as well as audio... it's gotta be possible somehow
Today I learned every nugget Wade has killed with the 1 grit lives in a bin and gets salvaged for parts
I came looking for this comment.
@@TheAssassin_2 So did I.
Holy hell, I didn't pay that close of attention... 😮
That is an amazing _nugget_ of info you've dropped! That kinda makes me feel alot better about him destructucating them 😅
Thanks for pointing this out! 🍻
i spent far too long going frame by frame on that flying cam shot analyzing everything in the studio, i'd ask for a tour but i'm sure that would possibly take days lmao
thank you for the quality content as always
I knew someone would!
What did you spot?
@@Games_for_James the works! oscilloscopes, an audio mixer, 4x4 *and* 5x5 rubik's cubes, a portal gun??????, plenty of beautiful arcade cabinets, old crts, and too many cables for one mortal to yield
it's genuinely a museum with so many different facets and interests, i hope you consider making videos on all your different passions!
Haha excellent!
James has a portal gun?
@@NONAME_098 a fully functional one that makes actual portals
I bought that on my one trip to Japan back in 2001. That's how it sounds. It doesn't get any better.
We got Dankpods and James vid on the same time, WE’VE BEEN BLESSED!
You can get a James and Wade video almost every time if you watch garbage time. 😂
We finally got a full view of Jame's arcade room!
can he swing from a thread
No he can't, he's a corpse.
Look out, here comes the spider-corpse
I love how most people (even people who know about tech repair) would disregard this kind of stuff as "cheap garbage" but watching James explain and repair these old nuggets is so amazing.
BEMANI MENTIONED
(you Australian lot are so lucky to be so close to Japan)
"HOUSE" is 20,november, btw
WAAAAY more cabs come up for sale for cheap in the USA.
Yeah I know, the website says the actual titles but I stuck with the genre title for simplicity because it’s what the game uses. Anyone who cares probably knows already lol
@@Games_for_James But you guys have cheap/shorter flights to Japan!(Anyway, I'm from the UK, where we only ever got DDR/Dancing Stage officially, meaning the scene here is a bit... complicated)
@@Games_for_James for yourself yeah, but 1) closer to japan as already mentioned 2) there are actual official cabs in australia iirc for like sega stuff
I admire your ability to just open shit up and figure it out. Whether that’s to repair it like new, or smash a CRT in to a game boy
7:20 That's a flower, and you can see it more clearly on the og Arcade version and console ports like the PSX one
Yeah, there's a petal falling off it
Holy hell I was right?! Awesome. 🤘
I knew it was a flower with petals falling! :D
Also the weird graphic in Do You Love Me is supposed to be a flower sheding its petals, you can very clearly see it on the actual AC/CS BGA
I was actively working on cleaning some IIDX 7-key panels and the buttons when I saw this was uploaded lol
I personally own/have IIDX, jubeat, and SDVX cabs in my house.
I also go out of my way to maintain my local arcade’s rhythm games. Taiko (HD), MaiMai Finale, Rhythm Tengoku, Múseca, WACCA, Chunithm, Pop’n, IIDX, SDVX, Nostalgia, Groove Coaster, jubeat, and a StepMania converted DDR cab are all at the arcade. I love working on them all and seeing how they tick. Actually having schematics/documentation is so incredibly helpful.
It’s amazing how intertwined the rhythm game scene is with other communities. I originally subscribed to you when the channel was mentioned on Garbage Time - since I noticed your cabs in the background lol
I also have a few of the pockets myself, but still have yet to power test them 😅
At least I now know what could go wrong with them when I do go to try them, though! Thanks!
hi brendan
@@CraftyTheFox hi lol
@@CraftyTheFox hi crafty
I have one of these. I used to play it on the train when I would go to school. It's really cool seeing you work on one of these on your channel. I love it.
Also, I didn't realize you had so many Bemani cabinets. So jealous of your pop n music and drum mania cabs!!
Bruh James has everything. I wouldn't be suprised if he made an Aussie Stock Flux Capacitor for his Delorean.
the GFDM jumpscare is a welcome surprise
we are dangerously close to either Wade or James trying to play Taiko no Tatsujin on The Drum Thing
Either that, or Wade suddenly has a taiko drum. Just a random import taiko he got from Cashies.
I absolutely love how this channel flys between niche little gaming items that need a small bit of care to angle grinders. James id love to see you rip a wheel and paddles from a arcade cab and get them working in a real car
fellow drummania cab owner!!!! it's also cool you have a pop'n, been trying to get a pop'n myself as that's my favorite game
I love the way James moves his hands around when talking like in the beginning haha
3:58 - the lore deepens when we learn that James keeps all the one-grit corpses
the full room view was golden "so you like beat mania huh? You must own all of them huh?"
James: well yeah look around
When I asked if you intended to get a beatmania cab at some point back in your sega rally video I didn't mean this lmao
another double upload from the two legends themselves 🔥
never thought in my entire life that you would own a popn sd, pump it up sx, and a legacy drummania set, let alone make this video??? this is so sick!!!
No matter how old i get and how many of these types of videos i watch, electronics are always just magic to me.
electricity is just a canon magic system anyways like our consciousness is literally made up of electrical signals in our neurons the same force that makes up our souls powers artifacts that can do the impossible like talk to someone across the globe or simulate a blue hedgehog with a nose
literally could not have expected you to be into the arcade rhythm game scene haha, what a sick place
the absolute synergy between this & the new Dankpods vid
Well I was going to sleep but Aussie man uploaded about something I’ve never heard
Two Aussie men did!
Makes the WonderSwan version look and sound arcade perfect 😂
My nerdiest moment of my life might actually be hearing 8:17 and going "OH MAN IT'S 20, NOVEMBER, WILL HE BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PIANO SECTION ON A LITTLE LCD SCREEN". Also, I can't believe they considered Salamander Beat Crush to be harder than 20 November on this thing. That song is monumentally easier in the real thing.
God seeing all your BEMANI games was AWESOME, love to see someone with a similar interest as me!
honestly the fact that thing works as well as it does is crazy to me. While it doesn't read too well it can actually have 4 degrees of accuracy, which is wild. I'm sure it's not too fun to play but compared to some of the things I've seen made by companies that's insane.
When the PS3 was being worked on there was a leak of what the new controller was supposed to look like and it’s a sight to behold. I’d like to see James turn a DualShock 3 into the boomerang controller that was ultimately canned for obvious reasons.
The boomerang wasn't a leak. That's the design Sony officially showed when they first announced the console at E3.
The silver PS3 with boomerang controller would be so nice to have. The boomerang looks goofy but people that tried it said it was actually so comfortable to hold
That may be the best "I also have a few of these" flexes I've ever seen.
I'm also just embracing the lore that James lives on the other side of Wade's warehouse, Wade throws all the gritted nuggets through a door and James throws car parts through another door 😂
An impressive handheld for the time. Basically nothing out there was really doing samples and doing them particularly well and extensively.
I love the panicked tapping wishing to hit the notes
love the slight echo you hear in every james video lmao, makes it feel liminal as hell😂
i genuinely love the bemani series arcades and games, basically all of them have some sort of charm to them, i am a big rhythm game enthusiast and when i play a bemani game it just feels different, special. i envy james so much for having all of those bemani arcades since they tend to be really rare where i live in northern europe, as in as far as i there are like only a few arcades that have bemani arcades and non in my country of norway. it's possible to make your own home arcades (in fact i own some arcade controllers for bemani games) but as much fun as they are, they lack something from the actual physical cabs
🗣🗣🗣I can do it so do it with me. You are the DJ, hit the keys.
Do a scratch, bend the plane, feel the beat let's do it again. 🗣🗣🗣
BEMANI games!!
Also, great work on fixing that piece of Pocket Bemani history right there!
Beatmania is what I call a Friday night home alone
Glorious start to a Wednesday.
"we will get back to that stuipd inductor" said every elecitrical enginner ever at least once :) love the video's keep em up!
100 milli-henries seems really high for an inductor with those physical dimensions, but 100 micro-henries would be pretty reasonable.
Sometimes inductors are marked with colored dots on top, kind of like resistor color bands.
You've already got the game running, but you could rebuild the original inductor by rewinding it with new magnet wire. Just make sure to count the number of wraps if you take it apart.
OMG James a big Bemani gaming fan!!
Love seeing that last of the classic GFDM version cabs there!!
Also seeing the Eamusement system working in the Bemani arcade cabs there, I mean you are a true fan!!
The bemani pocket games that do pop up for sale from time to time have gotten quite expensive recently as well. I used to have a good handful of them myself, definitely regret offloading them at this point. They were always cool little toys to play with.
Also very sick that you have GFdm & pop'n machines at your place! Excellent taste!
0:16 not every day you see an abandoned portal gun…
I love Bemani games, especially Sound Voltex. ...So much so that I jumped through all the hoops and subscribed to an account just so I can play it at home, because Minnesota has yet to be graced by a Round1 arcade. Even got a custom controller for it.
Hey James? Next time you see an epoxy blob in an electronic device, could you sand the blob down to nothing? That would be very VERY therapeutic.
This is possibly the coolest LCD game I have ever seen
I was looking through this channel earlier today funnily enough, thinking that a new video would be coming out in a couple of days. Turns out that it only needed a couple of hours. Awesome.
When I die I hope heaven is just james' gaming room.
James kids be having the actual best dad in the world 😭
Aww dang, gave me idea to try and buy one of these for my partner who loves DJing, but then you said they were hard to get.
Buh boh...
Love the work, James. Keep it up!
Every time I see more of James's space I am more impressed
That is an impressive collection! Wow!
from what i know, these radial inductors are always in micro henry so you should've found a 100_000µh inductor
"Babe new james channel dropped!"
Blessed day for James channel fans
man i wouldve loved this as a kid such a cool little game
What a reset button does is confirmed. Where would we be without James.
My mom had a friend from Hong Kong who gave me his handheld Beatmania (this one). I remember playing for hours. DJ battles were, indeed, terrible due to how imprecise the scratch input is.
Another awesome video James!
A time where everyone wanted a slice of the hand held gaming pie, this meant pocket versions of bemani titles (including Wonderswan Beatmania)
Edit: The songs in the pocket at least from what we heard are "u gotta groove" and "Do you love me" classics from that era of Beatmania. and one of the visuals is a flower with petal falling off of it. That fourth song is iconic it is "20, November" appearing in multiple Bemani series including DDR and Pop'n Music
“Wow, thanks DJ Mouth!”
-caddicarus
i love bemani (specially iidx) so this is really awesome to see
Sound quality is as good as my NeoGeo Pocket Color was as a kid after the batteries made the whoopsie sauce.
Totaku did a video about these little Benami machines a while ago, and I can confirm these consoles were not known for its sound quality. x) Also there's no music in the menus.
Later models also has the Konami logo that flashes everytime you press a button, it's pretty cute.
8:04 sounds exactly like Breathe Carolina’s song “Chemicals” if you skip to exactly 1 minute into the song lol
Both james and dankpods have iconic layouts
James has a red table and dankpods has a green ipad
James has a cat and dankpods has frank
Dankpods is super into drums and ipad repair
James is into video games, rigging and repairing consoles
Oh thank God somthing that isn't boring to watch
6:16 good to know that, even in a pocket game, beatmania is ruthless as ever
Hi James, I’d recommend silicon grease over lithium grease for plastic on plastic surfaces. When plastic dust from the inevitable wear mixes with the lithium grease it turns into a horrible goo. Silicon grease doesn’t seem to do that, so I use it on my N64 sticks.
This is so cool!! I had a bunch of generic little pocket game thingies as a kid with little dot graphics that played shoot em ups and puzzle games and I played those a lot; if I had one of these though? Man, I would have been playing it nonstop. What a cute, extremely neat little game!!
I'm jealous, James works in my dream den lol.
Only thing missing (or that I couldn't see) is a pinball table or two
for a 1998 handheld, that's a surprisingly cromulent game
Hey james, hopefully we can see a gameplay of Drummania V8 of you or Wade. Big fan of Bemani games as well. 💙
Thank u James
Thank you, James
Idk why but at seeing this video my brain immediately went "ah this has something to do with batman"
James AND DankPods uploading the same day? What a crazy time we live in! 😮
that massive dot matrix HAS to be the most impressive 90s custom LCD i have ever seen.
please tell me, if you've seen better
i love james channel
This video was engineered in a lab to appeal to me as much as possible
i used to LOVE LOVE LOVE pump it up. i found that it felt more like dancing (and the music more varied) than DDR. i would love to see James do a few games that use /both/ the dance pads -- i never could get good at that mode, b/c i only had one pad at home! (not that James is likely to do it, given it doesn't fit the brand of the channel, but i'd still think it would be very cool)
I'd love to see a video of wade playing drummania, would be interesting to see if any of his real drumming skills transfer over
james did his own nugget dip
yeaahh!! james channel upload forget SLEEP!
it's 11 PM.
As a Henry, I feel honored
If i had a nickel for every chip-on-board i've seen today i would have two nickels
YESSSS RHYTHM GAME REPRESENTATION THANK YOUUU
Ok I understand how small James desk is
This reminds me of my Guitar Hero LCD game. Got it from Barnes and Noble as a child. I thought it was actually pretty good for that type of “game”, and the device itself is shaped like a red electric guitar. Uses AAA batteries as well if I remember right.
I love how he has a White TV for the nintendo Wii
Love your videos
Good day when james makes a video
