Patrick Jenevein currently serves as CEO of Pointe Bello, a strategic intelligence firm that specializes in analyzing China’s economic statecraft activity worldwide. He is a Council on Foreign Relations Life Member, and his work has been published in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, the Boston Herald, and other newspapers.
Jenevein began investing in China’s energy sector in the 1990s, building power plants and wind farms, and later manufacturing wind turbine blades. His new book, Dancing with the Dragon, recounts the story of his two-decade attempt to work with the Chinese government and Chinese Communist Party-his elation over sealing a groundbreaking deal, his disappointment over being betrayed by his Chinese partners, and the hardball tactics he faced during the protracted legal battle that followed.
He discusses lessons learned-politically, culturally, and legally-and shared his reflections on the current state of US-China relations.
