- Here is one of several tracks from Studio Jams Episode #52, taped "On The Road" at Regent University's TV production studios in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A fresh take on "Little Sunflower." It features Peter White on guitar, Mike Cheney on bass, Everette Harp on saxophone, Gregg Karukas on keyboards and, from Hampton Roads, drummer Jae Sinnett. Magnificent, sublime and timeless version of Freddie Hubbard's masterpiece. Most cool.
Just set the standard for this gem. What a talented full of heart and soul group of pros
What a team!
The musicians play with respect for each other. And thus they sublimate this piece. Congratulations!
Got lucky today when I found this .........pure nectar .....
All I can say is thank you for making the world a little more enjoyable with your beautiful
impromptu jams. Soooo sweet! Oh Yeah! Listening to this, I don't think of war, crime, drugs, poverty, trouble, politics, hatred, greed.... I am just taken to a comfortable listening place... sun, rhythm, beautiful solos, travel on a beautiful road, horseback in the wilderness, a soft flowing river,,,,,,,,,,,
I totaly agree with your comment, TheBdd4 ;-)
TheBdd4 I just will add this: start the day with seeing this in your bed makes your day begin really smooth. :)
Great musicians making great music from 4 chords and a haunting melody!! Thank you!

This sounds like the best episode of the studio jams series, with all due respect for all the great players who have participated.. this just clicks
Killer percussion
Very nice sax from Everette Harp. Thanks for the style guide.
This is one of my favorite compositions by the great Freddie Hubbard. I have all kinds of versions of it from Freddie Hubbard to Leon Thomas, but this is soooo sweet. Beautifully done!!!
I AGREE! - One of "The Great Versions" of Freddie's Classic - Being an old man, I have been a "Jazz Man" since I heard Coltrane's solo on ALL BLUES from KIND OF BLUE in 1959 (Coltrane is still my musical hero and I was fortunate to see him during that "Great L. A. Jazz Scene" of the early to mid 60's) - even though these guys are more associated with "smooth jazz", still an incredible version - "KEEP ENJOYING THE SOUNDS OF JAZZ" - P.S. the Wes Montgomery influence guitar solo is "really cool!" plus Jae Sinnett's drum playing is impeccable!
Nice to see and hear Everett Harp again. Great balance in his tone!
The sax is beautifullllll
Davide Vispi everette harp is a master at his craft
Goosebumps all over !perfect team
one of the best covers of this tune if not the best God it doesn't get any better than this !
ALL WINNERS IN THAT STUDIO THANX Nice version!
Gregg, you produced an audio tape for me many years ago in N. Hollywood. Good to see you workin' it on Studio Jams
Evertte! SOOO underrated! Entire ensemble...wonderful job!
Indeed, you don’t get to play with marcus miller otherwise..
Shows how good this tune is when super players excel . Freddie will appreciate
great sound and tone, all of you!...nice everything, groove, and together-ness.
wow, speaks to the human condition, so much longing in that sax solo.nice piano phrasing too. Thanks
That was incredible. Loved every moment of it.
Very tasty playing by Mr. Karukas as well as everyone else!
This is absolutely beautiful! Heavenly!
1:08 when Jae the drummer glances at Everett the sax player after he throws a little run in there, is so cool. They are on the same page!
VERY NICE. These guy are livin. Mike Lozica

Oh ! quelle belle musique ! Maîtriser son sujet, c'est quelque chose, hein ! Bravo !!
Very nice rendition of this classic. Mr White's guitar is exquisite also.

Freddie Hubbard (R.I.P.) would be happy with this... Listen to the delicate comping of all, including (and foremost) Jae's.
This is so fine.
Powerful techniques.
Good one
Very earthy
so tight, these cats are real good!
I agree! Very nice version...
WOW!
Excelente. Parabéns.
GREGG Y MÚSICOS GENIALES A LA PAR. GENERAN UNA REVOLUCIÓN MUSICAL. APLAUSOS.
Peter White who played with Al Stewart, superb!
I like the player bass guitar Mike cheney....
Nice!!! I don't know if it's possible to do this song badly. When White begins his solo I flashed back briefly to El Chicano's version. The version released under Milt Jackson's name on his 'Sunflower' album will probably always be my favorite but this is definitely a keeper.
So fine.
Very nice = muy bonito

Bminor7 8bars x 2 Cmajor7 4bars Bmajor7 4bars Alto sax Those guys make a simple tune sound beautiful! Mike Lozica
There’s seems to be an extra set of Bminor7 bars after the Bmaj7…
🤙
Just wondering.. anyone happens to know what Ride cymbals is Jae Sinnett using here? Really digging that sound
AABBA (I guess over the years 4 As in a row is a little much to keep track of, especially in the deliriums of soloing 😅)
OMG (refer to comment from TheBdd4) perfect remarks perfect_______ AMEN
Beautiful The cream of the cream players
💙🌱🙄🌾
I kinda feel Lyle Mays vibe by Gregg Karukas.
It's Just Silky
Superbe ! Mais normal avec Peter White ! Merci
Fuckin smooth as
Aérien.

Unfortunately the horn is not as loud as the band.
So fine.
