- Life is unpredictable
About 2 or 3 months ago, Tina and I went to the Superstition Wilderness to backpack in Haunted Canyon. It started out great, but soon enough, things changed for the worse.
Don't take life for granted. Find what you love to do and go out and do it like today is your last day alive.
Oh, and maybe take a wilderness first aid course or two....
Wow. We are blown away by all the positive comments that we have received about this video. We thought that some people might have wondered what was going on and felt an update might be due. We truly appreciate each and every one of you and all of the encouragement you've given us.
Hearing all the other stories of other people's struggles puts things in perspective. Hope you, your friends and your families all stay safe and well.
Oh....And Tina will definitely still be around. We already have a couple adventures filmed that I'm working on now and plenty of (mellower) plans for the future. And if she isn't along on a trip, I'm sure it won't be difficult for me to get footage of her flipping me off that I can tack onto the end.
Well J you did show the gunshot holes in the sign and that DID lead viewers down another path... so glad Banditos did not get you!
The " vaccines " aren't vaccines. Glad Tina is Okay for now, but the long term effects for people that got the clot shot aren't looking good...
Glad better, I had similar experience few months after covid shot. Heard others similar. Maybe related who knows? Had covid shot just prior ?
Thanks for all your shares! Glad Tina is doing well now. My best friend had the same issue after enduring COVID and now has a pace maker. I vicariously enjoy your adventures and learn a lot and apply it on the few times I'm able to get out west - even though Jerry makes us do some of our own homework ;-).
Tina, you are very special. We love the humorous marital bantering in all of the videos you two share. Jerry, it's lovely to watch your concern and support for Tina. Get well quickly, Tina!
We have missed you Tina. Prayers for getting back to your desired level of fitness. Thanks for the explanation and sharing. A powerful reminder that we can’t take things for granted, and we need to be constantly on our guard for health issues.
It was DEFINITELY a good reminder to not take things for granted.
A diagnosis of congestive heart failure ended my career in search and rescue. Fine ever since the initial complaint but too risky to continue as a rescue climber. Several years later my physician says he thinks I had a heart attack. Always have had high blood pressure, and on several meds to control it. Since living full time at 7000’, I go to the hospital once a month to have 500 mls siphoned off. They tell me I’m producing too much blood to compensate for thin air. But hey, I’d rather die on a mountain than in a hospital bed! 8 years with NPS SAR taught me a lot, not the least of which is never leave a party member alone(especially your wife!). And always remember, the summit is optional, getting home is mandatory. Slow and steady Tina, you’ll get it back. Good luck and keep on keepin on!
Sorry to hear about your health issues. Love the philosophy on the mountain vs the bed. I did learn that I get a little summit fever anytime I'm out there hiking. I will admit I thought about continuing to the cabin. But it was too scary at the time. Even the blood vessels burst in one of her eyes. We were sure she had had one, and were very relieved to learn she hadn't.
@@JerryArizona real glad she’s ok. You did the right thing. My wife was on the team with me, and twice she ran into serious problems. Once with hypothermia, and once with heat stroke. Both ends of the spectrum. Scared the shit out of me. It’s way different rescuing a subject you don’t know vs. one you love. I always got real nervous when we got split into different teams on rescues. I would be more worried about her than our subject. I bet Tina worries about you when she’s sitting at home and your dangling off some 9 mil rope in a remote canyon! You guys look out for each other, lots more adventure down the road. P.S., get a Jeep!
God Bless, having dealt with my own set of "random" health issues it can be scary... The best you can do is live your life and not let it impact you negatively... Easier said than done, but that is the best we can do with the card we're dealt...
Absolutely. That's the attitude you have to take.
Tina, I am glad you are felling better and hope for a full recovery. I hope you don't have what some people I know have what they call Covid Long Hauler symptoms. Then, it could take quite some time. Some people who have been vaccinated or others that have had Covid their bodies reacted differently. I heard of a runner and hiker that since the Vac can't hardly run or hike anymore, so I hope you are on the mends. Best of wishes.
Omg thanks for this video, I have to say when we found your channel. We instantly fell in love with Tina, we love you too Jerry. But Tina, your the heart of of it all. Tina your personality is the best, your smile bellisima. Hope you continue to get better, stay sweet always...🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻We ❤️ you Tina ❤️
My husband asked me the other day, "Where's Tina been?". I said she was probably working or something. So thanks for the uodate. So sorry to hear this and so glad it wasn't worse. Take good care of Tina and we are looking forward to a full recovery!!! We love and miss Tina! PS - Jerry we love you too!!! -Lisa Arizona
I always had low BP until being vaccinated. Am now on BP med for having higher BP than normal.
Glad you are getting this under control. Take care.
Sorry to hear that. We're hoping it passes with time (and diet and exercise.) We'll see.
So glad to hear Tina is doing better! Having an episode like that in town is scary enough. To have it happen on trail adds a whole new dimension of fear. Just like in your epic Superstition hike, you listened to your body and made the smart decision! Prayers that Tina is back up to full hiking strength soon…Love ya Jerry, but Tina makes the channel complete.
Couldn't agree more.
I always think when I see something really cool in nature, "what would Tina say?" I am serious, she is my favorite hiker on UA-cam. Jerry is great but you make the videos work (and the scenery too) for me. You two are the best team on UA-cam. I have watched all of your vids. Get better. Oh, by the way you always say "Fucking awesome" in my mind. I think I need to make a T-shirt "What would Tina say?"
Everying about this comment is awesome. Or, as Tina would say, f@*kin' awesome.
I would definitely buy that shirt!!
Thank you so much for your kind words. You are fucking awesome!
Couldn’t agree more with what Garland says! Hope you feel better Tina!
I would buy that tee shirt as well
You guys are awesome. Take care Tina, we were wondering where you were.
I was thinking you need "Jerry Arizona" stickers for your channel...
Maybe "how you like those switchbacks Tina?" With a characature of Tina turning around & flipping the bird...🤣
Hi Jerry and Tina I was wondering why I haven’t seen you in the vids, Glad your okay Tina, and I do miss you on the videos please feel better and take care of yourself. Thank you for sharing.
Great reminder to listen to our bodies, and staying together. Tina, feel your best soon! Jerry, and Tina thanks for sharing your lives and adventures with us.
Ah mortality, I'm glad you listened to your body & didn't push it. Your videos are so amazing; I enjoy being along on the adventures. Feel better soon! ❤ Here's to many more trails.
Oh Tina what a scare. You are one tough chick; however ~ you have Jerryeee, super buddy, friend, companion, husband and ~ the go getter for take out Mexican. Be safe and take good care of yourself... & stick together. Meanwhile ~ miss you.
Sorry to hear what has happened. The same thing happened to my wife. She was vaccinated, caught Covid and had cardiac issues including rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. Took several months to get back to baseline. Glad to hear you are changing your diet and exercising. Hopefully, you will be able to taper off the blood pressure meds. Take care and will miss you in the videos. Flip off Jerry for me.
That's the plan....well, except for the flipping me off part. That's just a normal day to day activity. Sorry your wife went through that but it's encouraging to hear it got better with time.
I hope you feel better. The exact same thing happened to my sister. She is also a nurse, perfectly healthy. She got the shot and caught covid just like you. It also affected her heart badly. She has had to get a pacemaker and defibrillator put in. Please take care of yourself. Be careful.
So sorry to hear! Hope she's doing better.
Scary experience for both of you! You guys are my favorite AZ hikers both for the excellent photography but also for the real way you present your experiences and humor you display. Tina: take good care of yourself and I’ll look forward to your return.
Definitely scary. I think I was in denial at the time and she was trying to power through it. Also, thank you for the kind words.
Your wise cracks are sorely miss Tina. Hope your fitness gets back to where you want it.
I hike Wire Pass to Lee's Ferry every year...and every year...I watch the video you posted 3 years ago in regards...
Tina--Glad to see you are on the mend. "Time is an ocean but it ends at the shore. You may not see me tomorrow" Bob Dylan.
So generous of you both to fill us in. Jerry is plenty entertaining on his own, but it's something wonderful "having you around". Please take good care of yourselves. Your support for each other is so endearing. Take your time getting to 100%. And even if your presence is limited at first, a little bit of Tina goes a long long way.
God bless and stay well.
We do miss you Tina but please take your time. I have no doubt you will be back to your bad-ass, hiking, via ferrata slaying self soon enough. Jerry, your a good man! Thanks to both of you for sharing.
Thank you. She'll get back out there. We've already adapted a lot to do stuff she can safely do while she gets back to where she was.
So glad to hear that Tina is okay. Pretty scary! I am glad that it wasn't worse. As a nurse, we do tend to minimize our own health issues. You did the right thing by stopping and sticking with her. Tina, be well and take it easy coming back!
Thanks for updating us. We have missed you!
I'm glad both of you are fine now . Great to know we will still be seeing Tina as well ! Take care great partnering!!!🤓🤗🤗
That would be terrifying to be out on an isolated trail and think you may be having a heart attack with help so far away. SO glad to hear Tina is on the mend. Since you’ve had some father-away trips lately I figured she just wasn’t able to go along, and/or you just needed some “bro” time, lol. Hope she’s back soon. Y’all are my favorite, and since I’m also in Phoenix, I love seeing places I might not find out about on my own, or am just not up to going to on my own, like Battleship Mt, ha!
Oh goodness! I am so sorry to hear about your health setback but happy to have you moving towards awesome blossom health! Big hugs to you and Jerry 🫂 🫂 Be well.
Tina! We're so glad you're ok, and you definitely have been and will continue to be missed (Good one Jerry not cutting that part out 😜 ) Definitely feel for you because we know how it is to not be at your usual fitness level... we can tell you're choosing to have a positive attitude but that's not easy. I'm sure most of your diehard fans like us are happy to see you two do whatever hike you feel up to. Doesn't really matter to us, we just find the two of you entertaining and it always brightens our day! Sending speedy recovery vibes your way! -E
Thank you. I would imagine you two not at your normal fitness level is still better shape than 99% of us!
My first thought, the vaccine. I enjoy your videos. Well done. I am hopeful your health improves. The number of previously healthy people who were injured is more extensive than we know. Stay safe.
So glad she is on the mend!
Glad to see Tina is on the mend. An inspiration for us all. Thanks to both of you for letting us into your lives. Look forward to your return .
If you want to do some research, may I suggest Rumble, it's YT minus the censorship. Also, they are growing rapidly but have almost no hiking videos, if you ever start posting there I'd sub in a heartbeat. Love you guys, get well Tina.
Oh my! My BIL had similar symptoms of high blood pressure. "I gotta go lay down NOW!" Hoping they get your meds right, and you are back to flipping the finger to Jerry soon! Thanks for sharing.
Don't worry. She's still in good enough health to give me the finger.
I'm so glad Tina is on the mend and her coronaries were clean. It's so funny that I'm just now learning that Tina is a nurse. As a nurse myself, I started watching your channel while I was on a travel contract in Glendale and wanted to explore AZ while I was there. It's funny how you know another nurse when you see one. Without even knowing, I picked up on nurse-vibes from not only Tina, but also you, Jerry. I think it was her use of the "F" word and tendency to not put up with shit. I felt a kindred spirit. I'm glad all is well and y'all are getting back outside.
Thanks for letting your friends know., get strong, get back on the trail.
How scary! Looking forward to more fun hiking banter with Tina back on the trail.
Love you two, hope you heal
important video for so many reasons. Happy Thanksgiving.
Glad you are doing better Tina. I have missed you in the videos with Jerry. Scary when your health changes so quickly for a healthy person. Have heard of many heart related issues maybe tied to the vaccine but hard to tell. All the best.
She'll be in plenty even while she works on her BP. Just might be mellower stuff.
We love your channel and watch regularly - such a personal and incredibly alarming situation you both experienced especially for Tina - we are glad you are okay Tina, definitely time to do as you mentioned with health and adjusting the sails so to speak and we wish you the very best in that
Thank you for all your incredible and great commentary videos and look forward to seeing many more
All the best sincerely
Appreciate the sentiment. This was definitely a scary experience. Since then though, her blood pressure issues seem to have resolved, which I am extremely happy about.
Been missing Tina… always enjoy her comments….definitely keeps you grounded 😂. One of my hiking mates is a nurse who worked Covid wards. A portion of our conversations has been about post Covid complications and after effects. The range of them is astounding…..obviously best wishes for a complete recovery…hope to run into you two sometime in a Mexican Restaurant…..Will be sending a pitcher of Margies your direction !!! Take care.
Wishing you the best.
We miss you, Tina.✌️
Glad Tina is on the mend.
Jerry not cheap but look at full red light therapy panels. What this does is boost ATP and cellular mitochondria function. Also load up on creatine because it will increase ATP. Keep up on exercise/ strength train. Good luck Tina you’ll be back on the trail before you know it!!
I'll check that out. We're already working on getting healthier. Much easier now that she got the clearance to exercise.
Wow, scary! So glad. You guys are doing ok now. My gf and I live in AZ and love your videos. We appreciate your knowledge, sense of humor and most of all, inspiration. If we see you at a restaurant, margaritas on us!
If you ever go to El Patio outside Camp Verde on a Sunday, you have a good chance of finding us...
@@JerryArizona you must be in anthem?
OMG! The Tiger Lady is now the Tiger Lily!?! Welp you said it, life is certainly unpredictable. However, more or less welcome to the club. Can only speak for myself, but am thoroughly confident speak for hundreds and hundreds who appreciate your channel cuz we too had major bumps in the road where we had to eventually surrender our will to be active and for health reasons now watch other's adventures vs living them. Moderation is key, Thank you for sharing cuz we all need to hear it and\or be reminded. Alaikum Salaam
She'll get back out there. We just have to make some adjustments and work up to some stuff. But even before this I've been acutely aware of how fast we're getting old and what we can do today we may not be able to do tomorrow.
As an avid fan of your travel and hikes, I was happy to see T pull through…and as an epidemiologist I also hope there is no long Covid in your future…hang in there, we are with you….(and ps as someone turning 68 I can relate to the diminished capabilities :))
Getting old is rough, for sure.
Jerry, My girlfriend & I just watched this video. We have been enjoying all of your videos and in fact it was you and Tina that inspired us to go to Zion & Bryce this spring. We wish Tina well and hope she makes a full recovery. It is because of you two that we are now committed to seeing all of our national parks! God Bless you both - be well.
Thanks! Best of luck on all the parks. That would be a dream for us. Tina's doing much better. She was able to get back out there last weekend and put on some serious miles. She did great.
Miss you Tina....Have truly enjoyed watching you guys.... Praying for a fellow nurse
Tina's doing well. Appreciate the concern. She's now having a busy time at work that's cutting into the hiking time, as well as helping her daughter plan her wedding. But I'll drag her out with me every chance I get.
We will miss you Tina! But we know you'll be back stronger than ever. We love your videos.
Thanks for sharing your lives, and probably saving many ! I ‘m an athlete (64 now ) so am winding down a bit: but it really should be about interacting with nature, and retaining enough brain cells to so in the end .
I appreciate y’all keeping it real in this video, and that you’re working together to get through this. Y’all will be back in the groove, just keep on pushin’ on. Wishing a speedy recovery your way.
Glad to see you're figuring it out. Thanks for all your inspiration, it's been great to watch your videos, see your relationship and passion for life.
Thank you for the update, and I’m so sorry this has been happening. I appreciate this channel so much and adore how the two of you interact. Keep getting better Tina!
Appreciate the humility. Take care of each other. Look forward to you being back to health and more videos. Cheers.
So glad to hear she is ok. You guys take it as easy as you need. I appreciate the time and effort that you two put into every one of these videos. Here's to a speedy recovery
No wonder Tina was MIA. Sorry to hear she got sick, but glad she’s back on the trails. My wife and I both experienced something similar after being vaxxed and haven’t felt quite right ever since. All the best to you two and stay safe and healthy.
So glad you are on the mend (mended by now I hope)!!! Had a similar experience, but I was the patient (my wife is a ex cardio thoracic transplant nurse)..... passed out on a very easy hike (Deems Hill in Phoenix). Recovered after wife dumped cold water down my back and was able to hike back to our truck. Long story short, ended up having a 50-70% blockage in my RCA, no stent, diagnosis of stable angina, and heart disease, and now after 36 sessions of cardiac rehab I am in better shape than I have ever been, and symptoms are gone. Even though I have a family history of heart disease, I am 6 feet tall, weight 170 pounds and considered myself healthy and in decent shape. You can never judge a book by its cover! 😀
It sucks getting old. But it beats the alternative. Glad you're doing well. That stuff is scary, especially out in the wilderness.
Prayers to your family!!
You guys are the best!…
Prayers for Tina’s full recovery!
Glad to hear you’re on the mend. I know my wife had a rough 48 hours after each vaccine and i can’t imagine what your body was going through getting actual COVID-19 at the same time. Take it easy and we’ll see you when you’re ready. You two are heros to us “not young but not old” people.
Thank you. Luckily, we did some mellower stuff since then that I still need to release, so she'll be around.
Many prayers, and get well soon!!
I absolutely adore you, Tina!! I am so glad you are getting back out there, even on the 'mellower' hikes!!
love your channel, happy to know Tina is on the mend. I watched your battleship mt. video last night… she is always a trooper! 🤝✌️
So glad to see you back..we enjoy the banter between the two of you and we love the videos, so DO take it easy, take care of yourselves and laid back are just as awesome...love you guys. Make yourselves the priority!
I like watching the videos of the 2 of you on adventures. I'm glad you're on the road to being back to normal, I wish you the best.
Thank you for sharing. I’m so happy you are recovering. Slow and steady. You both are such a great team.
Our very healthy 27 year old son experienced the exact symptoms that you experienced, he is unvaccinated, tested positive for Corona Virus, now when I say healthy , he's incredibly fit , I can't post he's picture here but if you saw him you would say no way. He was hiking one of the popular urban trails and had to be taken off trail by his friends and went to the ER, like you he was hypertensive, tachycardia, SOB, chest pain. Turns out, he had Endocarditis. He's been treating successful and doing great. Happy to know that your 👍 OK, looking forward to your next hiking adventures
That's horrible. Glad he's doing OK.
@@JerryArizona thank you, glad to hear Tina is doing better as well
Sending Good vibes, speedy recovery and much love ❤️ to you both 💛
Love from Colorado. Get better soon Tina.
Good to hear Tina is ok. Love your channel you to do amazing videos. Both of you stay safe.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. Super scary. Praying for a full and quick recovery.
Sending you love and healing energy! We all adore you so take good care of yourself and know we're all picturing you healthy and happy!
Love your videos. Thank you for the update. All the best to both of you.
Love your channel. Im a hiker and was diagnosed with BHP in Feb 2020. It took about a year of “little scares” mostly in my head, until feeling completely fine. Like you, im taking 2 meds. One difference, HBP runs in my family and i was 65 at the time of my diagnosis. So glad you are better and wish happiness and health, always!
Rosie from Dallas
Thank you! Tina is doing well. Hope you're doing OK too.
Your video's have been an inspiration to my wife and I since I just retired. I'm learning from everything you've shared and encouraged to take on some adventures; other's I'll leave to enjoy from your channel. Thank you for sharing such a personal story and thank you for your awesome videos. I'm rooting for your return to 100%.
Thank goodness! My friends and I LOVE Tina. So glad y'all have a treatment plan in place.
My best wishes and good vibes for Tina to make a full recovery. I look forward to seeing her on the trail again soon. Take care and be strong. All the best,,
Love you guys! Hope Tina gets well.
So glad Tina is doing well. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. 😀
Glad you're doing much better, Tina. We certainly appreciate you sharing your story. Here's to a healthy future and more videos with you and Jerry.
I am glad Tina is okay. She is one tough lady and I admire her so much for her adventurous spirit. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Appreciate the comment. This was scarier than the video conveys and I'm very glad she's OK.
Thanks for the update! I just saw this for the first time today and I thought just how fortunate you guys are to have each other and to "watch each other's back!" My wife doesn't care for hiking or backpacking, but never objects when I load up and go. I'm sorry you had to take the jab, Tina. Even if you wanted it, it shouldn't have been forced upon you...not saying that had anything to do with anything. But I know people who were fine, and now they're not. It's good to see you two have a great gift....each other!
You two are a hoot to watch lol!! Sorry to hear that you had to go through that. It is good that your wife is fine and will be ok. Well wishes to you both. Looking forward to more of your videos. Stay safe yourself 🤙
I was one of the people wondering where you have been. I am glad to hear you are doing better and getting better. Looking forward to seeing many more videos with you in them, Tina!
Glad that Tina is feeling a lot better. Jerry you are a great support for Tina. You guys rock. 🇺🇸🙏
So glad you didn't have a heart problem. Feel better soon! Thanks for telling us. ❤
Glad to hear Jerry...all the Best to you and Tina...I'm sure she'll be back where she wants to be in due time.
Tina, hopefully a quick recovery. It’s tough to know we are getting older and things start to happen. I love your attitude of taking it slow and let’s back out there. Hope to run into you both someday at a slot canyon.
Huh. I am a nurse as well. Post covid, losing my ability to hike was my greatest fear. Its been over 2 years now..and judging by our trip to the Smokies last week, we are FINALLY back to ourselves. The up hills still are a beast, but the thru-hikers passing us were ALSO panting and puffing, and we were not short of breath on the flats and downhills.
Glad you're back to normal! It knocked me on my back for a long bit too, but I think I've gotten past it. Unfortunately, Tina got the double whammy of getting vaccinated basically right when she caught COVID. No bueno.
@@JerryArizona Yeah. What kind of nursing does she do? Critical care here. My partner and I wanted to say if you two ever come down to South Florida, the Miami area, in Nov-April we would love to show you what may be the hardest yet most lovely hike in the state. We have done Robert's Lake trail twice now, and it goes through multiple biomes, and is beautiful in a very different way than your neck of the woods. It would be a different challenge, and would likely make a great video as well.
Really enjoy your guys videos. Hope Tina got a diagnosis and is on her way to recovery.
Thank you for sharing and good to know that Tina is on the mend. Easier is better! Just don’t stop seeking adventure. Be safe and get better. I was thinking of you two as we were doing the Upper Cathedral Valley drive. Tina’s the driver so we need her to get better. Keep on going from Lynn and Jessica ❤ Keep us posted and give us a shout if your in our neck of the woods. (Montrose Colorado). 😀😀😀😀😀
New to your channel as of today but I’ve already bonded with you guys virtually. It’s both kind and brave of you to share this video. Glad things are sorted out.
New sub...live in Flagstaff. Glad to hear you are doing better...looking forward to seeing many videos that you ARE in...
Best wishes to you both and thanks for sharing. Love Tina''s wise-assery, if that's a word. Glad to see she is on the road to recovery.
Thank you. And that's the perfect word.
We have wondered where you have been but never could have imagined this. So glad you got the medical attention you needed and are are on the mend. Tina, you are more important than any hike accomplishment or video. We miss you when you aren’t on the videos but look forward to smaller or simpler adventures with the two of you - enjoying your life together. Wishing you continued recovery and well wishes Tina. You rock!
I just saw this video, after a year of this scary experience. I’m sorry this happened to Tina and you, which definitely made you concerned and maybe confused at the same time. And I’m happy that nothing serious happened to Tina and she seems be much better now. We love your adventures and sharing of your beautiful life together. Stay safe and explore more 😄
