Tonight on GeekNights, in light of one of many Helldivers 2 kerfuffles, we consider yet another way that late capitalism is ruining the games industry: the stores make more money than the games. In the news, a Roblox game's attempt to fix its in-game economy causes a bunch of gamers to lose their minds, Sportsnet streams have freaky noises, and Animal Well is good.

For hockey, I suspect and agree it's audio watermark and it's an intentional anti-piracy move to find out who's streaming
I bet they planned to make it less noticable and there's a bug where it's extremely noticable

Retail stores don't actually buy a good and resell it. Places like Walmart get the cereal for free then keep a percentage of that sale. But that's because a large company like Walmart can negotiate these types of deals directly with those companies. Walmart is the Pokimane of Twitch, they have a direct line to Twitch staff that the other 99% of streamers don't.

I'm becoming more & more convinced that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman does not want the TV audience to watch hockey. First, it was the very distracting digital board ads designed to take you eyes away from the player action, ie not wanting you to watch the game, and now these audio artifacts designed to no let you hear the game.
