=== About this Song ===
Killer Instinct 2 was one of the last fighting games I played regularly in arcades before home games started to look and play just as good as (if not better) than what was in the arcade. I was a huge fan of the original KI, and the second installment was a step up in almost every way.
Robin Beanland continued to crank out another selection of excellent, memorable tracks for this game, and it was great being able to hear the audio so clearly at home in the N64 version of Killer Instinct Gold compared to the downgraded audio from the original Killer Instinct port on the Super NES.
Though I heard Kim Wu's theme many times over the years, I never thought of remixing it until I started working on some faster-paced dance music. The original track is wonderfully simple and catchy, and I thought it would be something fun to add to the lineup of "Pulse" remixes I've been releasing recently.
I wanted to retain some of the Eastern sound and feel of the original track, but also add more propulsive dance elements to the song to echo some of the vibe of the slightly more dance-oriented sound of the original Killer Instinct soundtrack.
As I continued to work on the remix, I decided to add a bit more variation to the song, so I ended up creating an improvised solo section in the breakdown that sounded to me like Kim Wu's theme mixed with the music from Chun Li's stage from Street Fighter 2. It definitely added a little extra interest into the final track, and I find that you can never really go wrong by adding a little extra Shimomura inspiration.
