This guy is so articulate and dialed into what was going on at the time. I grew up in Buffalo in the 70’s and Triumph was a huge band in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Without being derogatory, they were sort of that 2nd tier of bands behind Zeppelin, the Stones, The Who, etc., but there were there. They were very talented musically and brought in some almost Randy Rhodes type of classical aspects. Great video!

Triumphs music will and has survived the test of time. Great, incredible band!

He's right though. Music (not only rock) has become flat, uninspired, and soulless. I miss the days of Alice in Chains, Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Sabbath, ect ect.

Nice work, Daniel. Seriously I never would have thought “I wonder what the bass player from Triumphs take on modern music and old punk rock is..” But 15 minutes later I’m here like…wow..dude is on point on some shit here and I have a little bit of new perspective. So much respect to you for putting in the time and energy and all the unseen costs required to bring us these original interviews.

I think the melody aspect is the largest issue. Specifically songwriting- but I imagine that won’t last forever and someone(s) will break the mold and it will be impossible for a lot of people to not be entertained by an influx of energy and remarkable songwriting.

Good observations, but maybe rock (that is not alternative) is just 'played out', like Dixieland.

In actuality the music business is the same as it always was, the record companies are giving the populace WHAT THEY WANT. Today's kids don't want classic rock, they don't want loud guitars/solos, old style melodies/ complex musical arrangements, and guys in spandex and long hair LOL! They want what they have now, that's why it's out there and that's why it's popular. We may not like it, I certainly don't, but we are old now and they are young and they are the ones buying concert tickets. Young people are going out to see Def Leppard in motley crue, it's us old farts going out for nostalgia, and thankfully we can still do that.
