George, you really are a lucky lad. You have a father that shares time and interests with you. That's a rare thing these days. You cannot buy these sorts of memories. Make the most of your dad. He really is 1 in a million.
We are lucky to have one interest to share as it makes living with a teenager a little smoother…. Wish us both luck as I teach him to drive !

I’m 15 and building a jimny of myself, I’ve spent the last summer welding every chassis mount up and sorting wheel bearings, put a two inch lift on it, poly bushes. And most importantly, upgraded the sound system, so I can blast my music outside kfc 🤣 how is George liking his jomny for his first car, I’m so excited to get mine on road and get my liscence

One word of advice.
You keep pointing the camera at your dad when the action is happening haha. Show us out the front window

amazing video i can tell you dont have alot of off road time but i enjoyed every second! you are an amazing dad spendong time with your son and teaching him! thumbs up!
The Jimny is very common here in Spain (Asturias) due to the very narrow tracks and 180 degree bends on our mountailn roads that also get snow! Great review. Enjoy young man!

Great little 4x4s. I done up and modified an old SJ (Samurai), so underrated as offroaders 👍
I won't lie... this Jimny is just kind of the perfect banger and so much fun. (George should be HAPPY... if dad ever lets him drive.) Maybe this is something like what the Defender Sport (if that ever happens) should be.

superb little car perfect for the mountains where I live. Any chance of some accessories in the future? Rear storage draw would be ace
4-wheel drive can be engaged/disengaged at up to 60mph, low range only when stationary. 4-wheel drive must only be used on slippery surfaces as there’s no differential in the transfer case.

Looks a great first car, as always what's mine we look after but what's dads, it doesn't matter. Something I know alot about but am happy my 2 lads now appreciate looking after their motors. I read these motors are very capable. Was the tyre inflator anything to have? Enjoyed the video, reminded me of the days my kids learned to drive.
Great video. Where is this? Where do I sign up? I recently got a jimny, and would like to try some safe greenlaning, gain some knowledge to get into it as a hobby. I'm not too far from the Bristol area

Great vid guys. Never really known whether to get a Jimny or not. They seem very expensive for what they are, mpg quite low and rust quite badly. Nevertheless, people seem to love them. Jury is still out. Thing is, they appear to be getting rarer and rarer. If they come onto the market, they soon get snapped up. Second hand car market is loopy at the moment. Just seen one at our local Suzuki garage in Exeter. 63 plate, manual box, 42k for £11999. Seems an awful of cash for a 9 year old car. Best to look privately I guess. Keep em comin!

Proper little Mountain Goat those Jimnies. Bigger engine though say a 1.6lt just to give a bit more ease at motorway speeds and bit more oomph. Great video as ever!!! 👍👍👍

Hello Simon…well done again! From my old 1994 Vitara, you had to be moving very slightly forward to engage 4 wheel drive which might be why yours hesitated. Did you notice that the steering weights up notably when turning with 4x4 engaged..I hope yours is a bit more up to date though.🤞🏼🤞🏼😀😀😀😀I’m glad you and George had a good day! 🙂🙂🙂Richard

@@L663 It looks a Grand Day Out!! Something I remembered later, to get out of 4x4! You had your reverse about a yard or so to unlock the wheel hubs. George’s car is 20 years newer though! 😀😀😀😀
I took my d4 out on a pay and play not to long ago, it was well beyond what i wanted to and turned out to be 95%muddy clay. I crapped my self . Last time i went off roading was over 10 years ago in snatch wagons and wolfs

Think you will find it does have a clock - it is on the stereo but not currently the display that is selected. Took me a while to realise that on my daughter’s Jimny.

Perhaps we are too cautious in SA, but one of our strict rules is to never recover off the tow-hook. That ball snaps off and you have a cannonball shooting towards your head. Putting safe recovery points on should be your first off-road mod.
Yes we were aware this was bad practice recovery points on order
Totally agree with you regarding recovery from a tow ball but as you can see we didn't snatch it and it was such an easy pull. We wouldn't recover a heavily stuck vehicle this way.

They are VERY VERY VERY sketchy in high side-winds..! you have to hold-for grim-death..! Very noisy above 50mph, but GREAT FUN. 👍

I was working in Scotland in Inverness and all you see up there is the little Jimmy s I asked the man I was staying with why so more then another 4x4 and he states that because there are so small they can go along walking footpaths due to there size
That is fascinating - George is loving driving the Jimny now as a learner driver - it allows him to squeeze through !
Which is more capable out of the Jimny and Vitara if both are standard and both around 2008 models?. I am looking to buy something.
I suspect both the same but the Jimny is smaller and car get into more sneaky places !

I hope those aren't permanent plates (UK12ANE). They are illegal (no space between "UK12" and "ANE") so a particularly pedantic police officer might pull you over and dole out a fine and/or points.
