Man, this is a lot of work and special tools needed. I need to replace my steering angle sensor and was thinking of doing this job but this looks like a pain in the rear. I have a little bit of play in my steering but I am hoping the new steering angle sensor will help with that. Mind you, mine is a 2002 M3. Thoughts?

Important note: those 12 bolts for the metal reinforcement plate are supposed to be replaced after removal. They are torque-to-yield
EDIT: btw, since I am doing this now, the specs for these bolts are 59 Nm/44 ft-lbs + 90° + 30° (from the Bentley manual). This is important for your subframe rigidity, as I understand it
