There are nearly 102,000 children (under 18 years of age) waiting for adoption from the foster care system in the United States. Approximately 23 percent of children and youth actively photolisted on the AdoptUSKids website and waiting for placement in adoptive homes were registered with one or more siblings. Since 2004, the campaign has consistently delivered the message that You don't have to be perfect to be a perfect parent. Using a humorous angle to communicate the seemingly challenging task of adopting a child from foster care, the PSAs reassure prospective parents that even if not perfect, they have the ability to provide the stability and security that children in foster care need and deserve. Would I be eligible to adopt if I was handicapped either physically or mentally? This is a question I've asked many times over the past three years but that has been answered differently by different people.

I would love to adopt a child to add to our family but my husband and I don't make a lot of money. I'm a stay at home mom for now and he is a delivery driver.

@@LucyGar23 not to be rude but you do. it costs so much if your'e adopting a baby. like diapers or formula. unless your'e getting a child around 4 or older it might be diffrent.
@@LucyGar23 Yes, but you do need a stable financial income and enough to take care of a kid. What if they have siblings? And if you separated them they'd have a breakdown or something? You don't have the money to take care of them all, especially if you don't even have enough money to take care of ONE child. You need a stable income to take care of the kid, and enough money already. You want to be able to take care of the child NOW than later cuz to be honest, they're needs won't wait. They're needs are going to happen now and they need a lot of attention so you need to be able to quit a job while having one on the side or knowing that you can get another to give that adopted child attention and love and the needs that money can buy to fix cuz adopted kids need a lot of attention and you'd need at least a promotion to a certain job that allows u to give that child the attention they deserve. If she adopts now, she's going to have work more and if she can't find a job with good work hours she may have to take one that robs her of being able to spend time with her kid, and love and attention, as you tell her, are both the most important things that child needs besides food and water and a home to stay in.
random piano kids up to 5 automatically get Wic when they are in Foster care, adoption from foster care is anywhere from free to a few hundred dollars, you get a monthly stipend which helps and some kids get adoption assistance (post adoption monthly stipend) until they are 18 or 21 depending on their needs or potential needs.
