They have posted a link in the video description. It's a link to the RSPB website. I am sure if you just do a search you will be able to find plenty of information. Not sure how accurate any of it is. I cannot understand why this virus is not mutating and becoming harmless, like all viruses do over time. Also, I haven't seen a single case and I have treated over a dozen sick birds in the last 3 years, most of which made full recovery and have been released. These birds continue to do well, I see them most days as they return here every day.
I cannot understand why domestic pigeons do not have to be kept in, like poultry. Near me there is someone with a flock of over 100 pigeons that spend all day, from sun up to sun down, flying around, sitting in the roads and landing in peoples back gardens for food, not to mention the mess made from their droppings. Are these birds less likely to spread avian flu than poultry, somehow I don't think so.
Good question. I don't think the pigeon population carries the " bird flu" or spreads it around. I haven't seen one single pigeon here with bird flu even though I've treated several sick birds with other viruses and illnesses.
@@allanlarmour7460 Hi, thanks for that. I didn't realize that domestic pigeons were incapable of catching, or spreading the avian virus. I thought it was transmissable between all birds.
@@michaelfrancis7072 You would think that all birds would be prone to that virus but that's not what I am seeing. The birds here are a mix of domestic pigeons, wild pigeons ( wood pigeons) and the Rock dove ( racing pigeons)/ street pigeons. I've treated all of these birds since 2019 until the 1st March 2023 was my last release and I honestly haven't seen a single bird with anything that could be considered " bird flu" and I have had some very sick birds. The vets are under instructions ( from who I do not know) to euthanize any wild birds people bring into them so as to prevent the spread of bird flu. There does seem to be an hysteria around bird flu and people, those charged in particular with caring for our birds, have killed more birds than the bird flu has. Remember foot and mouth in cattle? People really need to start to think about what's going on around them. Look at all the harm done in the name of doing good.
I'm so glad 😊 about the wood pigeons and other groups like jackdaws and starling. It does seem to be mostly seabirds. What are we doing to this wonderful natural world. Will we get cuckoo's back and nightingales? They were such a part of my childhood.
Well, my husband and I spent a lot of time last summer in the Brora area of the Highlands. We had hoped to enjoy the beaches around there. This was not possible as so many dead birds and dying birds on the beaches was very distressing to witness. It felt like there was no help at all for the poor birds. I think you could phone a phone number if there were more than 5 birds on a beach. The birds were brought in by the tide. It seems to me a slow response from agencies who work with birds. I suppose I should feel grateful that one agency has an employee working on this!
@Claire Smith, can you please explain why " Bird flu" has not mutated as all other viruses do and why do certain types of birds, like pigeons seem to be immune from bird flu?
@@clairecadoux471 it wasn't Claire I wrote too. I have emailed several people at the RSPB and ask why bird flu isn't mutating. If the birds are being killed then that might explain why they don't get a chance to build any resistance. Apparently a woman in China was the first to die of " Bird flu" a month ago. We learned in school when I was 11 that animal and human biology are different and humans cannot contract animal viruses. Something isn't right
Should it not be law for fishermen to not cut their nets and leave it in the sea for birds Wales and dolphins and other animal being tangled up in these nets and what can be done about it in parliament?
Let’s hope & 🙏🏻 that things will be more positive this year.
Good luck in trying to change the fisheries industry!
lets hope 2023 we see less cases
Can we have some more bird flu information please.

@@clairecadoux471 oh, and no one from here RSPB has ever replied.
Not forgetting turtles being tied up aswell in fishing gear
fingers crossed things improve and develop some sort of immune system .

Humans . Greed and factory farming of poultry led us here .
