  • This year major work at RSPB Scotland's Baron's Haugh nature reserve has reconnected the River Clyde with its floodplain. The result is a reserve that works harder for nature and the climate.
    In this video you can see how the work unfolded and get a flavour of the results.
    This work was supported by the Scottish Government's Nature Restoration Fund, managed by NatureScot.

    Well done, what a wonderful piece of Conservation, of working together with the land, River Clyde for the benefit of Nature and all the birds and animals that will thrive because of it. Bless it be our Mother Earth and all her creatures, may we all live in harmony. Peace. 😊😊😊❤❤❤🕊🐦🦆🦢🦉🐸🦫

    What a fantastic job you all did❣️Working together with nature always has a better outcome than trying to work against it. I’m so grateful for the work you are doing here in Scotland 🥰

    Are you think of introducing beavers at any point?

    • @jdryden8552
      @jdryden8552 22 дні тому +1

      @@scotslassie6991 there are already beavers in the area which have found their own way here. They’ve been in the area for around 3 years now.

    Excellent. It looks like it needs planted with native wetland species.

      These videos were taken a while ago after the diggers had been in. It’s been through a full summer of growth and vegetated with many native species.

    They seem like they do good work for the pools. I agree that Baron’s Hough’s not a good site at all. National habitats always have to change.

    It's a shame that these videos always have to have the muzak wallpaper. It would be nice to just hear natural sounds.

      Unfortunately the natural sounds at the reserve include a lot of background noise from the M74 motorway.

  • @LynneNesbit-hp9dh

    Why do you have electronic music as background to your videos? Let's have the natural sounds of the reserve, please.

      Hi there. This is my local birdwatching patch, I’m also a volunteer at the reserve. Unfortunately because the reserve is a stones throw from the M74 motorway recording the sound of the reserve comes with challenges of not picking up the constant background drone of traffic. It’s much easier to block out with your ears when you’re physically at the reserve but anytime I’ve recorded clips the motorway is quite obtrusive.

    Despite this being a subject of great interest to me i turned off half way through, principally because of the inappropriate backing music , guess what ? I can deal with quite and I can even deal with silence , isn't that what being in nature is about ? Additionally an explainer of the terms breach and bund would have been useful . Despite all of this I wish the project all the best

    • @jdryden8552
      @jdryden8552 22 дні тому +1

      A breach is an area where water can travel through something. A bund is an area of raised ground around a wetland or along a river bank that stops water coming into an area.
