First off great work as usual and I love learning some new everytime I watch one of your videos.
I just wanted to say that I respect your politeness. Not many youtubers are so humble as to thank their viewers for their time. Thumbs up earned.

    The shelf wall looks great.
This is exactly the modern kind that some have in your home.
This is true, with silicone you can very much "sticking".

Very nice work. I just installed those exact same cabinet door stays today, and yes the instructions suck, never mind the fact that I lost the machine bolt for the hinge. DOH
    NOFX \m/

That is beautiful! I'd love something similar in my place in Auckland. We have a split level new extension on our 1930 bungalow that currently has a 950mm drop to a polished concrete floor. Would love something like this with an open back to be a room divider between levels.

When using the Domino I always use the tightest setting on one board for all the mortises, then move the selection to the second setting on the adjoining board for all those mortises. That way you have a slight play to make side to side alignment a piece of cake, trim to fit...

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  7 років тому

woodmasterguy yea I do that for gluing up panels like table tops when the domino is just for alignment. in this case I like both sides to be tight so it's more mechanical rather than mainly glue.

Great video, thanks! Interesting interior wall choice. I have not seen, what appears to be plywood used that way. I actually thought it looked very nice. I will be considering that choice when remodeling. It also made you piece really stand out in comparison. Is this a private or public space? Thanks again, great video!

At 7:50 you freehand align the domino router on the board surface. I recall another video where you did the same and had regrets later cause it wasnt accurate. Even (or maybe especially ) given it s been a catchup evening session, why not clamp on a straight edge across the board and have less worries :).
I just notice i m into quite some fingerpointing and nitpicking today. Hope you forgive me :)

How well does ply work for shelves? does it resist bowing. I've made a few vic ash book shelves and they always bow a bit under heavy loads.

    • @KingPostTimberWorks

sheet goods are 1220 wide because 4' = 1219.2mm. factories already set up for imperial sizes simply comtinued making the same sized boards. nothing at all to do with having "extra" to trim off because of chipping

  • @rios635

Stop that horrible fucking noisr dude! Great job though. That customer should be kicked in the ass for using ply for interior walls. No design taste what so ever! Besides what you built them. Or is it that your stuff is so damn good that it makes everything else look like shit? Chew on that as your new slogan. Lol but seriously, love the work you do. Can see that it is a passion of yours. Congrats! ! And see you next time Ciao

  • @Rotwang72

Some questions. Why the wood shelf on wood wall design? Seems to not be a thought out design. Are hole pulls the right choice for plywood? Hole pulls used in mid century furniture went into solid woods and didn’t reveal that it was plywood with veneer. Was using the same thickness for the sliding doors the right choice? It is was about money then it was a fail. Exposing the plywood in the tracking is a design fail. And using that thick of wood was a visual fail. Your glue up game is an epic fail. Try using tape so that squeeze out never hits the wood. It’s hard to see but I can from this video see where the finish is effected by surface glue. Also chiseling of semi soft or hard squeeze out is a bad production choice. Better to have prevented it with tape. I appreciate your tool collection but am not convinced your choice of use was the best for each task. And your showing the miss choice on UA-cam tells quite a bit about the questionable tool choice for each task. I give this a thumbs up for effort and well...

very well done, it usually all goes wonky when you screw it to a wall no matter how well you build it in the shop but that went very well. I've used those same stays a few times, they meant to work the other way around i.e. Top mounted but I've used them in the bottom position too. Seems almost impossible to get a downward dampening stay in Aus.
