william being an antagonist honestly was one of the best things they did for season 4 onward it helped bring tension and helped in ramping up the action helps his battle themes are some of the best osts in the series
My head cannon is that XANA implanted all its battle experience into William. Because it shouldn’t otherwise be possible for William to be such a better combatant than the main Lyoko warriors. Not only did he beat ulrich much more often than not, he has very similar records against all the fighters and at times fought on even terms with several of them at once. Xana definitely buffed William well beyond the abilities he had at base, even granted him super smoke.
I always thought that William's sword was just to OP against the Lyoko Warriors weapons, being great on defense and being able to overpower Ulrich's two swords.
Idk odd was definitely winning his battles. But odd was their best fighter. I thought Ultrich was better but nah he got cooler powers and everything but he sucks

Bit of a headcanon I have but the reason why Ulrich lost so many of their first fights was purely due to him not being used to fighting with two swords as opposed to the one he normally carried. As time went on he began to get used to using two swords and improved.
🤔 Especially when he tries using the same technique to knock William on his back. What's weird to me is that Ulrich's new style made him slower than faster even when he tries to react to hidden attacks.
Pretty much. The few Wins Ulrich gets he either catches William Offguard with a throw or has assistance from others, leading to William to run. Thou the other losses are purely due to him not paying atention to his surroudings or getting distracted in middle of a fight.
I think that last fight was a clear W for ulrich. William acknowledged that Ulrich had improved against him too much and went for the Kolossaus. Even so, Ulrich took the fight to him and legitimately out-fenced him with basically no help. William escaped that situation because Ulrich didn’t cut him down immediately because he was waiting on Jeremy to give the green light to run the program to drag him out of Lyoko. The Kolossus took care of Ulrich. William was packed up by odd not long after because Ulrich had already beaten him and William had nothing left to give.
i get where you're coming from. i have it as a stalemate only because i felt like the fight could have continued if Ulrich wasn't taken out by unforeseen circumstances. depending on the situation, i see a fight as not being over until either opponent is dead.
@@ImpracticalClips i see what you mean. Personally I think it really shows Ulrichs growth as a fighter. By the end of the series, he was evenly matched with XANA William. That and he’s the only one to score an unassisted W on the kolossus and did it pretty much all by himself.
I think that Ulrich has the hardest time fighting William out of all the Lyoko warriors. Theres always the rivalry over Yumi's attention that existed since the beginning which isnt a great mental state to be in for fighting. Also XANA has turned into Ulrich before and with that probably understands his fighting style the best out of all the Lyoko warriors. With XANA controlling William it really seems to be Ulrich's worst matchup as he is both physically weaker than William, and they have similar powers.
Good points. But I don't think Ulrich and William have similar powers at all. William uses supersmoke as his ability and heavy sword (skidbladr) as his weapon. Ulrich uses triplacate and uses double swords (katanas, I think?) as his weapon. The problem is William's supersmoke is the perfect counter to Ulrich's triplacate. Think about it. Ulrich summons three clones, William uses supersmoke and can go underground for a few seconds, return to the surface to dismantle one clone and then repeat the same process until he finds and kills the real William. The only success Ulrich would have is that its a great distraction. BUT Ulrich doesn't even get that luxury because XANAwilliam cannot be tricked. The moment he uses tripacate on Xanawilliam, he immediately figures out who is the real Ulrich like in 0:49. This ability was Ulrich's only superpower, and bam, now its useless aganist their greatest opponent. Ulrich can only rely on his swords, and if there's one way to deal with William effectively, its avoiding close combat and contact on the ground. Someone like Aelita with her wings and energy blasts and Odd with his arrows and agility would be a better counter.
@@Nopeasaurusdid you seriously forget ulrich has super sprint which lets him run with super speed also you were wrong about williams super smoke it doesnt let him burrow underground it literally turns him into smoke to let him do alot of things such as fly and move under peoples feet like we see vs ulrich.

In their last fight william completely knows how strong the kolases is thus used that in advance to win. Whilst Ulrich being only focused on william completely for got it was there.
