You can easily tell the difference in sound. As soon as you switched everything sounded almost quieter. I definitely feel like the Shure is the better mic in this situation
The Shure mic takes the cake but right now, the Elgato DX can be had for 79.99 USD. It still sounds wonderful on its own and at that price, it's a great value.
The Shure mic takes it. I can hear the difference. Whenever you go back to the Elgato, it has less bass, and it gives it a rougher sound. The Shure has a smoother warmer sound to it that hit's the ear better.
@@Freedomsreviews Yeah. I guess there's a reason why they're an industry standard. I'm not even an audiophile like you are, and I can still hear the difference.
Thanks for the comparison! They're noticeably different, but I like how the Shure's not as piercy sounding as the Elgato. Question; would they Shure sound quality any different if connected via USB instead of XLR?
Thank you for the video. I liked how you did all the tests, especially the rejection tests. I currently am upgrading to the Shure MV7X from a Blue Yeti. Do you find that you need shock absorbers for these mics? I needed one for the Blue Yeti given it picked up every bump and tap on my desk.
With the mic on a good boom arm I never noticed the need for a shock absorber. The only thing for the MV7 id recommend is getting the SM7B wind screen for it since the stock MV7 foam isn't the best for plosives. I did a video on that as well.
Do you have any audio interfaces / mixers that you would recommend for a beginner? I’m going to purchase the Shure MV7X but don’t really want to break the bank on the interface if possible.
@@martina_laray the least expensive mixer for streaming with decent quality is the FIFINE Gaming Audio Mixer, usually about $50 USD. I personally use the Elgato Wave XLR, they're about $160 USD. Both are good for beginners. I'm not sure your budget, but I hope this helps.

I completely agree with this.

I'm not sure on that one as I only have the XLR version of the Shure MV7

@@Freedomsreviews Thank you so much! I saw the Fifine one but wasn't sure about the quality. Glad to see it has a thumbs up from you. I appreciate it!
It's wild how much the sound changes depending on your proximity to the mic.
