- 'The Red Flag' is a song associated with the British Labour Party. It was written by James Connell in 1889 and has since become a symbol of the party's values and the broader labour movement in the United Kingdom.
'The Red Flag' is often sung at Labour Party events and rallies and is seen as a symbol of the party's commitment to social justice and workers' rights.
Would like to say, I'm not picking a side here, just posting an interesting song, did the same with the anthem of the lib dems a while ago to. Personally I can't stand labour, or the tories even, but I don't care if you do support them, just be civil.
Land of Hope and Glory is the unofficial anthem of the Tories, maybe you could do them next? Maybe just an instrumental?
You are right imperial. I should not have said what I did. This is not a site for that.
I have always loved this anthem. I find the words deeply moving
Good but it's a pity You didn't find someone whom could sing.
What the Labour part needs is leadership that is bold and has a vision like that of Clement Attlee’s ministry
I think Starmer is gonna be more bold and visionary than you think. I concede I may be wrong, but governments about to embark on huge changes rarely advertise just how much they're going to change (usually because people have a tendency to go ballistic at the prospect). People forget just how conciliatory and cautious Thatcher was in 1979. I seem to be one of the few people who trust Starmer as a person, though perhaps I'm just naive. We'll find out soon enough anyway.
Personally I would like to see Labour go in a State Capitalist direction (with a healthy dose of socialist principles and values to give it a more "humane" character). I think that's the way the winds of change are blowing, and I think it would be a workable ideology for the Labour Party. That's just my opinion though, subject to change.

State Capitalism is 🇨🇳 China now. Or Stalin's and post-Stalin USSR, according to some Troskyists. So NOT a good idea either way .... Labour Should make their Alliance with the Co-operative Party not a useless sick joke and propose MUTUALISATION of water, rail and mail and "Great British Energy" and British Gas and and more not "nationalisation" which Tories can reverse any time.
Our next Prime Minister in a years time
44 days now
He's destroyed the labour party for his zionist ends. We are doomed. He's a member of the trilateral commission
Sadly, unless Nigel keeps those polls climbing
@@thesmithersy Nigel Farage isn't a threat, He can get up to 7 seats max in this election, and 2 of those are most likely, The Reformist Party will be kept as the smallest seat party but with the 2nd biggest popular vote.
@@ellsxbandits But once he's in, he can grow from there
Brits on Thursday be like:
The red flag, written by Jim Connell born in Kilskyre County meath Ireland. I wonder if modern labour are living up to his ideals.
At least you knew where you were with Uncle Jim Callaghan - he was still one of us
It’s my Family’s 100 year old ANTHEM ! We don’t care about your petty Political Infighting . I’m a Coalminer & so was my Brother & Grandparents , so this is our song we built this country . I’ve got no time for petty political Infighting ? Go do a few shifts down the Pit ? Then try & grow a Pair of Balls ? If you can’t jog on !
Kinda Sounds Like Oh Christmas Tree
That's where we took the tune from
@rorymoore9269 I wouldn't be surprised if both songs took their tune from some older, now forgotten, British song. Good tunes got recycled and repurposed a lot in the days before widespread copyright
@@chuckbrotton2449 more likely an old german song, Oh Tannenbaum is german
@@chuckbrotton2449 as the comment above said this melody is the German "Oh Tannenbaum". However, the original lyricists intended for it to to be sung to the old Jacobite tune The White Cockade. (Billy Bragg actually recorded such a version, and the lyrics clearly fit the melody)
Labour and socialism is so hypocritical!! It’s that mentality that is the reason we’re in this mess today!
The sweet sound of Progressive Patriotism 🇬🇧🌹🦁
Labour won lads
as happy as i am for labour going to take power this year, I wish they would go back to representing the people.
LABOUR WIN 2024
The sweet sound of incompetence, mass migration and mass spending.
Facts
Have you seen the Tory Party now
@@rorymoore9269 Midbour and Conservamids. Only reason the Conservatives are still in is because Labour is the even worse.
@@rorymoore9269 ‘I’m the heir to Blair’ - David Cameron, there is no difference between the parties anymore that’s what new labour did.
Labour’s track record on the economy and immigration is far better than the conservatives. Churchill was a racist warmonger hence why he lost 2 elections to Clement Attle and the popular vote in a third, by the way.
Labour 24 🌹🇬🇧
In Germany there is a famous Christmas carol with this music: O tannenbaum.
The commies ripped it off
More British than the Tories
Chrismas
Haven't heard this since Citizen Smith was on telly. It's awful, time for a new song.
RAISE THE SCARLET BOYS
What a sombre and peculiar song
Well... you got what you wanted😉
Still think that this only applies till the start of new labour.. aka thatcher..
Going to find the Liberal party songs? Perhaps.. the Whiggs before both of them?

Personally speaking - increased pay for public servants plus easing green belt planning restrictions - well done Labour! Never thought I'd say that
Considering charles the second was greeted with beautiful crimson red standards in the streets upon his restoration its a damn shame that labour doesnt support the crown more. The people were only ever protected when the crown had actual power.
A reactionary labor party would be the tory killer.
Uh oh.
I cannot stand Starmer!!
Still better than Mr Corbin
Me neither. We need Men Like Atlee and Wilson again. Not these Blairites. But, at least he'll probably lead labour to victory over the tories
@@rorymoore9269 it were better times, when Labour was Labour and Conservatives were conservative. Everyone is progressive today.
@@historiamilitaris5161 I see our grievances may be different. I totally endorse progressivism, but I disagree with labour under starmer now Backpedaling from Corbyns. Let's face it. Only actual socialist economic Shadow Cabinet since Smith Passed on. And returning to Blair's neo-Liberal third way, also him taking on a very social right wing stance to try and appease those taken from the Labour Vote share in 2019 in The red belt constituencies worries me
@@rorymoore9269 I am not a progresive (LGBT, Green Deal etc.) and honestly I disagree woth Mr Corbin in almost all. But I think that we need right wing Conservative Party (which is not right wing today) and left wing Labour Party. That is a democracy.
May long live our ever blue prestigious britain.❤❤❤❤❤❤
oh dear
Imagine voting labour
Look at the news bozo
Dont have to imagine 🌹🚩
