Jestem zachwycony tym tenorem. JUz dawno nie było polskiego tenora, który by tak świetnie śpiewał. Jest tutaj wszystko - talent - technika - i co najwazniejsze piekno.
People with no musical or singing knowledge are entitled to their opinions, but should restrict them to like or dislike. A singer usually has a natural vibrato, or can train the voice to sing a trill, but a tremolo is something altogether different and not of any real use to a singer. Mr Beczala is the great hope for opera today, he is relatively new to Verdi, and is meeting its demands beautifully. Singing at this level takes time and much work. The greatest Polish tenor since de Reszke.
Beczala's voice only hit its stride 5 years ago. In a few years, trust me, everyone will forget about Villazon, Alagna, and Cura. IMHO this is the greatest tenor to emerge since Pav, Domingo, and Carreras. What's not to love? Its all here. Beautiful lyric tenor sound, flawless technique, thrilling high notes, superb diction in all languages...All used with great intelligence, musicality and style.
@bigus omg, you are right about brownlee. i just listened to him now. his repertoire has potential to be more extended than beczala's or flores'. in a few more years he will be the best. i think his voice still needs to fill up more and in a decade he could be singing like pavarotti
@MartinHouser THE best living tenor out there, period. He has been perfecting his sound and understanding his repertoire, which can take a lifetime, rather than filling his pockets. He is, by far, the most perfect Rodolfo I have ever seen in video or live, when I saw him in La Boheme this year. Intelligent, sublime. I am not crazy about him in Verdi, at least in these youtube videos. He strikes me as a very 'modern' singer, with modern lines, perfect for Puccini.
@piax00 I don't agree that he is the best living tenor. I think he is the best living tenor in this vocal fach. For the leggiero lyrico roles, I love the work of Brownlee, Spyres and Tarver.
in is begginigs calleja had a noticeble tremolo in his voice. Now a days he had controlled it and he is singing much better than in his start. even though i think that Beczala is much superior.
i agree comletely. there is a lot of wunderlich in becsala. You can tell he is a big fan. he even have some little semblance to wunderlich. But ther is no way you can compare Calleja to Björling... that is nonsense
@dracher You are fogetting Jian Kiepura. I don't want to start an argument about who's better if Beczala or Kiepura but you can't forget to name him when you are talking about polish tenors.
@maestraconway Beczala refuses to sing anything that does not fit his voice, he sticks to his repertoire and is loyal to his opera company in Switzerland, where he honed his craft. This is why he is not marketed highly, he was just not singing everything the opera houses were scheduling. He was not prostituting his voice to suit the opera houses' schedules and programs. With a voice like his, it pays to wait before 'cashing in' to say it crassly.
@MartinHouser the best tenor out there today has to be lawrence brownlee. this guy is definately good but he sings too open and loses alot of ring in the sound as a result, so his tone is fuzzy and unclear. he has a great voice but is still technically a bit weak imo.
...no doubt? Beczala: yes. Calleja: no. Calleja has an ugly "tremolo" in his voice, this is unusal. And his voice is much weaker than beczalas voice. get me right: i am not a fan of beczala, but i think he is much better than Calleja.
Bravo, maestro Piotr!❤

Simply brilliant!
This is a Masterclass, and everyone critisizing it knows NOTHING about singing or how this aria needs to be performed! BRAVO!!!!!
❤from Poland ❤❤❤❤❤
Sempre perfetto 👍🌹
Piotr Beczala was the greatest tenor then. And he's the greatest tenor now!!! A magnificent voice and an extraordinary performance.
j'aime beaucoup cette puissance sans faille et cette diction !

Eccellente, magnifico, bravissimo !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Beczala, that was brilliant.
Santi is a living legend... and still going strong... can't believe he is still conducting - he must be 80. Bravi.
Beczala sounds to me the best lyric tenor I have heard since Carlo Bergonzi and there is just a bit of Jussi Bjorling in there as well!!
Whole-heartedly agree.
this is a voice i can listen to all day
Great! Such a versatile singer, too!
Good tenor very good voice bravo
Uma bela voz... conquistou o MET EM 2006.
magnifica voce!!!
Heard him sing this at the Met last year. Very smart. Very Good!
Probably the best tenor out there today.
Villazon who?
Ich hoffe dass diese Arie von UA-cam nicht gelöscht wird.❤
muy muy bueno! y una voz de oro!
i loved his performance in lucia di lammermoor in the MET LIve in HD.
great singer, good looking.
the aria here had to be sung very slowly. a great challenge for the singer! extraordinary performance by piotr beczala!
Il Capo della Orchestra is Nello Santi, a great italian opera conductor....a master
Belissima performance, magistral!
Bravo!
Sehr schön!
The Tempo is slowly and he insists his singing to the end. its not simple..........bravo

Gran veu , Bravoooooo
magnifique!
bravo bravo bravo bravo bravo bravo bravo bravo bravo braaaaaaaaaaavooooooo
h s so amazing!
sublime
Bravo!!!!!!!!!
Damn, why couldn't he sing like this when I saw him and he totally bombed Faust in Chicago. Glad he can bring it for his recordings at least.
I always believed they grow "great tenors" in Zuerich. 2 names come to mind. Kaufmann and Beczala.
and Wunderlich!
fantastycznie . poprosze cos z polskiego repertuaru

@enricodicapri i think Carreras also said he (Carreras) was a Wunderlich´s admirer:-)
@MartinHouser But even in Verdi, his sound is always beautifully polished.

Yes it's from Zurich ;)

His voice is very good, but his "vendetta" makes me sleepy!
Those 9 people are Gilda's relatives

...nah, he's way better looking than Bjoerling.

This is not true!
Viva Villazon, Alagna y Cura.
