I adore Marjorie s performances as Steve Temple ...a wonderful actress!!! I listen to all the Paul Temple Cases several times every year!Thank You so much for this!!!
My comment has nothing to do with the plays as such, but just to say how wonderful it is to read other listeners comments. More often than not, the grammar is a joy, and I find myself reading out loud in a sort of imitation of the actresses. Thankfully no one can hear me because I probably sound nothing like, but it amuses me!!
hi sir may I ask a question and if it offends I truly meant no harm. I saw Syrians today speaking freely for the first time the suffering put tears in my eyes. How lucky we are in where I am in England to be able to say virtually what we want, I hope they can in time also and that the new party will bring a smile to these genuinely lovely people
What a comedy of errors! From beginning to end. Miss Seeton on her way to London’s Royal Opera to see Verdi’s Macbeth & we hear music from Bizet’s Carmen! And the policeman going back for her umbrella will discover more than that! Really enjoyed this. How the world has changed. Not all in bad ways, for sure. But if this is how average people in the U.K. entertained themselves of a Saturday night, bless them, for we shall never see their like again. The days of the Wireless, before TV. Thanks to you & the BBC’s archives, we can get a glimmer of what it was like then. 👏👏👏🙆🏻♀️🇬🇧📻
Marjorie Westbury who played Paul Temple's wife "Steve" for over ten years, is a radio legend. She and Gladys Cooper ruled the Drama airwaves in the 50's A listener who enjoyed her work so much left her all her money, which was initially rejected by Ms. Westbury - who begged the listener not to do this.
I LOVED her as Steve & found out just how great a voice actress she was when I saw her standing next to Peter Coke! Looked like his mother! Yet sounded so young. That's talent.
Can share anymore Miss Seeton I've been trying to find some, I do have some of the audiobooks ready to order but I was hoping to find some on here or another dramatized version.I love the way this mystery is done! Thanks so much for Sharing hopefully there's more to come! Your time and effort are much appreciated!!
@@shaelynp7630 hello Shaelyn it's not like Miss Seeton by Simon Brent it's actually quite a different style etc have you heard of (name of channel) "they got away with murder" wonderfully narrated stay well 👍🏽
The character of Miss Seaton is new to me, and was a happy surprise. I was expecting another Miss Silver, with a touch of Marple. If there’s Miss Marple it’s more the Margaret Rutherford type! Lots of action and well drawn characters. Thank you for the upload. Is there any chance Miss Silver had any plays, and if so, could you one day upload them? Please? Thanks again!
The novel by Heron Carvic adapted for radio by Betty Lambda with Marjorie Westbury and Gerald Deacon When Miss Seeton found herself the horrified witness of a brutal murder she little thought that her modest gifts as an artist could prove so valuable to the police.
Thanks for this funny mystery play. A mixture of comedy, mystery and drama. With the garbage spewing out of Hollywood these days, it's nice to find alternative entertainment that have good characters and stories and themes. Too bad there was no more Miss Seeton audio dramas, not even new ones. It'll be great if there was a TV series. Then again, modern writers will add woke contents. Again, thanks.
I’ve questioned this too the actors playing young girls sound about 35-40! Perhaps there weren’t enough young girls available for these BBC dramas. Does spoil the listening delights. Thanks anyway.

It's a fine radio play this one-I haven't heard one as good in years.
Nothing better than a sturdy umbrella.

Since “discovering “ classic radio back in ‘08 I enjoy it so much and now think of it as “the wireless” also!

Marvellous xx
Absolutely loved this, thank you.
Verdi's Carmen at the end -- a joke on me.

Don Wardell how interesting! Gladys Cooper must’ve been great on the airways as well-I have enjoyed her work on the screen! Thanks for sharing👍
Its great to hear her in other roles
She is wonderful. So reassuring in a crisis
Yes! I remember hearing about that.

Great fun. An eccentric marriage of Miss Marple and Cold Comfort Farm. Highly recommended. Bless you for posting this.
Immediately I thought of Miss Marple lol
I wish I could find CCF again on YT! Blessings & happy listening yall fr Nashville ☺🇺🇸

Especially the use of an umbrella in the plot.
An interesting comparison.
I’m sure I’m fifty years behind the times, but this is so much more pleasant than modern stuff!

Franco Corelli singing Don Jose in the beginning..... :-)
Only one gripe - Callas never played 'Carmen' on stage. She did, however, record the full opera with Nicolai Gedda.
So did Victoria de los Angeles... & won a Grand Prix du Disc.
she referred to Callas re 25 minutes applause not her perfomance as Carmen.
@@JanetElson So, she got 25 mins of applause for?
@@mckavitt13For the wonderful recording!
They (& she) can "just see her as Carmen" after she's called it "rather sordid"?! See how complex we humans are?

Angie a teenager? Sounds positively middle aged.

But have to add the actor playing the girl was too old. Didn't sound right at all 🤔

Perhaps they wanted to convey how sullied she had become…
Not sure about this, rather silly 😮 The minute the Morton chap was described by the Vicar, it gave the whole story away🤔
It's a nice story, but seems unfinished somehow
Miss Seeton's voice is irritatingly loud and shrill. Gave up after a few minutes.
Why would a country policeman have a gun?
Miss Seatons voice is unlistenable for me…….overpowering
'Miss Seeton' has a high pitched shrill voice. Gave up listening after 1 minute!
You missed a gem!
