Capo 2: C G Am F G most of the way, G Dm for "I ain't looking for that easy way out", then back to C G Am F G at the end. A great song by the greatest songwriter alive on the planet today.
@@melinalawson6322 there's many of us. I first heard of him the day he died. I was never so taken by an artist. I cried till my eyes were dry and many times since. He means a lot to me
@@hospice8896 i wish i could tell him just one more time how much he meant to others. i actually got my name from his last name, (my moms maiden name) because we wanted to honor him in some way for his amazing talent.
I think I’m aligned with 73 people in this world. I’m kinda happy about that but ultimately sad. How does this have only 73 comments, last one years ago. Fill the world with Molina y’all.
Always was one of my favorite lyrics of his; he didn't stick with the "woe is me" cliches in all his heartbreak songs nor did he play the blame game. I miss his prolific output, if only he could have made it simple again and stuck around...
Vappie Dappiddy-dap Molina made the "woe is me" cliche detached completely from the simplistic premise behind how a lot of people tend to whine in such a manner. He seemed like he kept a lot of his life private and sang about it in a vague poetic manner, but he also made it relate to a lot of people, when really he was probably worse off than he led on even in his music. He reminds me of a syd barrett of the blues instead of psychedelic rock. Syd often said he thinks the best songs are sang in a way that can be interpreted in many different ways, while jason may have sung about alcoholism or maybe drugs a girl or something else a lot of them can relate to any aspect of "feeling the blues" He was a lyrical genius
"now theres really no difference in who he was once and who he's become" So thankful to live in an age where i can continue streaming his art long after he left us.
Listening to this for 100th time sipping my beer, and having to know how jason struggled with alcohol and eventually succumbed to it, it breaks my heart. He is so original, you cannot find anything else which evokes the emotion his songs evoke.
Obscure in his own time, future generations will stand in awe of Molina's natural abilities. Which in a way is for the best, a lack of corporate infiltration will lead to more being moved emotionally from the grassroots. Get Well Jason.
You never hear me talk about one day getting out Why put a new address on the same old loneliness Everybody knows where that is We built that house of his And when he's not home Someone else you know always is If Heaven's really coming back I hope it has a heart attack When they see how dangerous it is for guys like that The night has always known when it's time to get going When it's really been so long that it starts showing It's always had that ghost who always almost Tells me the Secret How there's really no difference in who he was once And who he's become Everything you hated me for Honey there was so much more I just didn't get busted But I'm not looking for an easy way out This whole life it's been about Try and try and try And try and try and try To be simple again

Timesbold, Dax Riggs, Iron and Wine, The Mountain Goats, just some of the other bands that I love. Just in case you haven't heard these check 'em out, and let me know of other awesome bands that I haven't heard.
the saddest music to ever keep me happy. jason molina kept me alive.
I miss him every day to this day.

I love coming back 16 years later to the same video🥺 a lot has happened a little good but mainly bad...but this remains.
This may be one of the finest songs any old bloke has written. And sung.
Yup. Well put friend
@@matthewpalumbo2782 I just cry and cry again. His music was beyond.
"Why put a new address on the same old loneliness?" Simple, raw, eloquent, beautiful.
This quote always brakes me
"I ain't lookin for that easy way out, this whole lifes been about trying to be simple again"
A true artist, never forgotten.

One of the greatest lyrics from one of the very best
"now theres really no difference
in who he was once and who he's become"

aged like milk
My favourite recording of this amazing song
The only thing that genuinely can make me cry
I wish you were still here with us, but thank you so much for what you left. I wish more people knew about you.
Him and Elliott Smith
This breaks me every time.. even though I know it's coming. Jason you SOB.
You are so sweet “the real Jason” to show up and keep helping me. Thanks for being you
I just love finding recordings of his that don't sound quite like the originals.
I've only ever listened to the recording, and I was pleasantly surprised at the added vibrato and the change in timing.
He is in the discussion for greatest songwriter to ever live.
He is at least the most honest other than maybe Nick Cave
his music will never stop speaking to me.
Jason Molina is the only artist that I had to hunt down and buy everything ever released. And I'm still left wanting more.
God, you are missed
Molina's voice has the warmth of wood fireplace crackling in a log cabin in the wilderness on a snow-covered winter night.
The opening line to this song might just be the greatest ever written. This song destroys me.
One of the great. Love you Jason. Thanks for everything.
Greatest of all time
god bless you for ever Jason… Your the best hug from france
always brought a tear. today its bringing lots of tears.
amazing lyrics paired with an amazing voice. this music is golden.
One of the best singers I have ever heard, and I've heard a lot.
rip
the man breathes himself, stillness and expression
so beautiful. rest in peace my brother!
beautiful
I always thought he was saying: "I am looking for that easy way out". Simple mishearing changes the whole meaning.
very true words R.I.P he will never be forgotten
rest in peace, sir
You never hear me talk about one day getting out
Why put a new address on the same old loneliness
Everybody knows where that is
We built that house of his
And when he's not home
Someone else you know always is
If Heaven's really coming back
I hope it has a heart attack
When they see how dangerous it is for guys like that
The night has always known when it's time to get going
When it's really been so long that it starts showing
It's always had that ghost who always almost
Tells me the Secret
How there's really no difference in who he was once
And who he's become
Everything you hated me for Honey there was so much more
I just didn't get busted
But I'm not looking for an easy way out
This whole life it's been about
Try and try and try
And try and try and try
To be simple again
Jason Molina é incrível, fará muita falta!
yeah, that line below is really unforgettable.
this guy is way better live, so great

“When it sees how dangerous it is for guys like that.”

incredible, are the chords C G Am?
