Father Richard has helped me so much. I'm grateful for having found out about him. My interaction with the world has changed dramatically after expanding my heart and mind
You give me hope and point me to the light. Thank you, for being an elder of knowledge and love. Some day we will sit on a mountain together my brother 🦋
takes courage, but i also think that because the human mind is a social one, we cannot live alone -- this may be why hermits "go crazy" and invent a companion, whether that be God or "Wilson" in that one Tom Hanks movie.
A friend sent me this, out of the blue....she'd been having trouble with delinquent teenagers in her neighbourhood, acting out. I suggested she hold thoughts of love towards them, and see them as denied aspects of herself. She is an amazing Woman, who I admire greatly. I would not have seen this video, if it were not for our conversation about the teenagers, sparking her search for answers to deal with their behaviour...which led to you. Your calm explanation spoke to my internal "Christ-self"...I loved how you expressed those paradoxes. Thank you, most deeply. ♥♡♥
i once saw an interview with a young man imprisoned for participating in the carjacking and murder of a pregnant wife and mother. The daughter of the victim asked the perpetrator if her mother, dead now for several years, had said anything before they killed her. The young man said she begged to be allowed to go home, but his accomplice, who actually pulled the trigger said no. The young man being interviewed said the woman got down on her knees and said, "I forgive you, and God will too." It brings me to tears every time i think of it. But that woman clearly understood this teaching.
When Jesus says , Birds have nest foxes have holes but the son of man has nowhere to lay his head. What he meant was when the spirit of truth comes the comforter he will have no one fighting along side of him of the people. No on to lay his head on a companion shoulder tell him your not alone. So the angel of his presence single handly with vengeance in heart took down the satanic reign. Which we are witnessing today the comforter has completed the process of the fear of God and The Most High is off His THRONE with vengeance on the followers of Satan on earth preparing the earth throne for His anointed the comforter. I don’t think we can know the speed of light is an absolute. In fact according to the anisotropic synchronicity convention, speed of light is fully unknown. We have also speed it up, and slow it down. You can even read that the speed of light was stopped and even reversed, however that works…
Cool video, don't mean to be annoynig, but neutrinos aren't light. I suppose you could say there is never true darkness because the heat of the material around you is always giving off some photons which we cannot see, but I think it makes more sense to altogether avoid the materialistic definition of darkness.
I don't understand what Richard means when he says he is "radically conservative first, and because of that he ends up looking radically liberal", and then he goes on to talk about paradox. But I don't understand why he says he's radically conservative first - maybe I'm not understanding his meaning of conservative and liberal. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.
He seems to say that the secular humanist is liberal because he or she values the individual over the group. (He doesn't bring up socialists here, which is another issue.) Rohr wants to value the mystical whole, which is the radically conservative position -- love thy neighbor. The language reminds me of what I have read of Keirkegaard who said that this life should be or at least can be rejected, but that in such an "absurd" position, we are then free to believe that everything that we wanted can be and has been granted.
Faith is literally described as 'assurance' in scripture. But a lack of assurance is an affliction, not a sin. Asurance is awakened over a lifetime and its also a gift of obedience. The opposite of faith is disbelief also known as the 'willful maintainance of doubt'. As soon as doubt is presented as some sort of 'necessary ally' to faith, you're basically saying that believers should feel free to willfully doubt whatever they feel inclined to doubt. The alighnment of the will of the soul to the will of God is what the walk of faith is all about. How can I be certain and yet honestly believe myself capable of being wrong (humility)? Certainty is measured by action. Your feelings regarding a matter are ultimately irrelevant. Whatever you do or don’t do proves what you are certain about. You don’t abstain from a behavior because you are uncertain about it, rather to abstain is to be certain that not abstaining is *wrong*. If you don’t talk about Christianity, you are ultimalty sending the message taht you are certain that the Christian religion is false. ‘Uncertainty’ is a pretense, an overtone, an atmospheric projection of humility where there be none. What the demand really means is to *not act as if you are a Christian*. In this world, Certainty runs every direction but to Christ, the trick is to never 'label' it as such. Certainty is an unavoidable concept, when you are certain, you act, when you're wrong, you should be certain that you need to admit it, ie: Admit it.
To say feelings are irrelevant is to say faith is irrelevant. Faith is a feeling, which motivates action. Now maybe we are saying the same thing. My action does reveal my faith. In fact, I am beginning to believe that people are incapable of actually living without the idea of God. Atheists may make that effort, but in some sense they are at least living with the illusion of companionship. I am saying this from the point of view of a very average human. I think that some creatures are less conscious than me and some are much more conscious (Jesus?). I understand the philosopher David Hume was quite happy to die confident in his aloneness / atheism.
Faith: Freely giving my last penny to someone else in need, because I believe that God will take care of my needs too. Certitude: Freely giving my last penny to someone in need, because I signed a contract with the government which mandates them to pay me 50 grand that day. Faith is faith because there’s room for doubt or unknowing. It’s faith because you DON’T KNOW, you belief. If you know, then it’s no longer faith.
Problem? It's not a problem. It's only a problem if you don't properly understand the Bible. The one and many is the same thing as the Tree that bears fruit whose seed is within itself. Emes = Truth Emes = aleph, mem, tau Aleph = one Mem = springs forth Tau = truth Truths spring forth from one. The tetrahedron is a geometric metaphor for the one and the many.
I love Fr. Rohr but I slightly disagree with him on this. One must hold both the One and the Many simultaneously. This tension of opposites will result in transcendence. The first work is to Unify your Self. That is, to actualize your Soul or personal individual self and then Realize your Higher Self or Divine Spirit. Marry the 2 together. This is the sacred marriage otherwise called Self Realization. Now that you are Whole (holy), realize your Oneness with the Divine. This is called God Realization. Easier said than done. It takes all of a lifetime.
Christians do not have three God's they have one God! Let me explain. 1 Water 2 Ice = water 3 steam ( vapour) = water Hence Father, Son and the Holy Spirit united in one source!
You've got your delivery down, son. Disarming, unassuming, unpretentious, and even a little breathy for dramatic effect. It almost doesn't matter that you haven't the first fucking clue what you're talking about.
I adore this. Richard is helping to save and transform religion on this planet. 🙏
"Faith is having just enough light to embrace the darkness" Beautiful.
Richard Rohr needs his own channel. I love this guy!

When “a” separates itself, it makes “the” even possible.
I am so happy to discovered this wonderful man. As a non religious person myself he is adding such richness to my understanding.
"The opposite of faith is certitude." Brilliant!
you know,no other individual has ever explained so well as to make me begin to understand .thank you.
"The only thing that counts is faith expressed through love" Galatians 5:6
Wow how upsettingly comfortable this is have to read more Father Richard
Brilliant.
Yes!!! Faith IS walking in darkness! Not knowing!
takes courage, but i also think that because the human mind is a social one, we cannot live alone -- this may be why hermits "go crazy" and invent a companion, whether that be God or "Wilson" in that one Tom Hanks movie.
According to my dictionary the meaning of 'faith' is "believing in something that you know may not necessarily true".
@@keithsmith1537Nope, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
What’s cooler than Richard Rohr using a fidget spinner? Nothing.
One is an image of three in stillness; three is an image of one in motion, and vice versa
I really like this guy
"...the opposite of faith is certitude". I am right !!

its like he is not talking GOD is talking through him
That fidget spinner just blew my mind
Hi Andrew. Is that what you call it. Fidget Spinner... I am asking as I also want one. Where can one buy it
Hahaa same 😂
4:59 Radically conservative and so because of that appear radically liberal ❤❤️❤️☦️👏👏🙏💪
Peter hello
Christianity should make fidget spinners an official symbol of their religion
Your model/templete is very close to the idea of the Sun. Which is one with it's rays... but different!

8:02 Do you think the phariseans did not know what they were doing? They knew.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the **evidence** of things not seen Hebrews 11 v 1

Vacuous sophistry.

Christians have at least 3 Gods, and you cannot weave even weapons-grade sophistry of words to obscure it.
I meet another intelligent person on youtube about once every five years. Good on you, TBP.
How do Christians have 3 gods?
Christians do not have three God's they have one God!

Anne vanniasinghe yeah idk where tf he got that from. It’s one god three different persons.
@@mypublicchannel3884 Thank you. It is refreshing to hear from someone who actually learned to think instead of repeating others slogans.
This is terrible misrepresentation of Christianity and faith.
