Even sitting in the front carriage of a train doesn't make you immune. Still remember like it was yesterday; guy lifted the pedestrian barrier and walked in front of us as we took off from the station. I will never know if it was deliberate or whether he was trying to beat the train.
It is a terrible experience for everyone involved, and I hope I never become one of those people involved- in any way. Railfanning near and around the place in this video, there are reminders everywhere- the suicide hotline number is posted on signs around the tracks and such, more warning signs, and yet still happens here.
I nearly witnessed a man getting hit by a train once. He was walking on the tracks as a Metrolink train was passing. My blood ran cold as I heard the train getting closer and closer and the engineer desperately blowing the horn in an attempt to make him get out of the way. The train luckily was on the track next the one he was on. I was recording btw. The man was definitely suicidal cuz less than 5 minutes later he tried jumping in front of an oncoming UP train which he once again failed. After that he just gave up and walked away

I live in the greater area of Seattle, the sound transit train travels from Canada, through Washington, Oregon and into north California I believe. If it's not land slides that shut it down in Washington, then its suicides sadly. Just earlier this year a new pedestrian train was starting up here and they ignored the speed signs for the track as they wanted to show off the speed of the new train, our tracks here are not up to the fast trains standards and they jumped the train just before a bridge crossing over i-5 near Oregon.... I believe it killed a person or two and several more were severely injured. Trains in this state have been a huge issue, we have Puget sound transit buses all over, same with Microsoft's buses, lots of pop public transportation that is very good, but we dont have much for trains here. We finally got a public subway type train passed for the area that goes from Redmond into Seattle that's a huge deal. But trains like the sound transit are kept far out of the city as possible cause the suicide by train rate is pretty bad.

this was filmed exactly where I go to railfan, which is why I watched. You can't see anything (at least I can't) in this video except the trains. Such a sad thing. People have done it here more than once on purpose and a few times by accident.
I can’t find the lady but sure seems that she made a dumb choice. Before people saids “fake” or “horrible quality” look how old this video is. You can also hear constant honking at the end and they also reacted when the lady was committing a suicide. Then the radio was heard and they were shocked about what happened.
Those cascades.. gotta love the Northern Pacific. For the idiots with so much knowledge to claim this is fake... it’s a radio scanner that picks up the engineer saying we hit a lady, killed her. Most railfans have scanners and sit and watch trains all day. These guys saw that shit before it happened as they were watching the rails. This could have been me watching someone’s death too. Interesting video.
leaders must create institutions to help people who want to commit suicide with dignity and without violence, there are methods of death without suffering,

I can see the woman walking out and lying down, but it doesn't look like she's actually on the tracks? Looks like the train just passes her? Maybe it's just the bad quality causing everything to blend.
Is this one of those 'Emperor Has No Clothes' videos where people CLAIM to see someone hit? I work at a middle school where there are lots of fights (bad neighborhood). One day, during lunch recess, we had two fights. Of course, junior high kids in low socioeconomic neighborhoods love fights-being in them, watching them, filming them, etc. There were two girls, while all the kids were wound up, who were next to a building, and started yelling, "Oh shit! Oh shit!!" which made dozens of students run towards what they thought was another fight. The same girls, then went to the next corner, and yelled, you guessed it, "Oh shit! Oh shit!!" which made dozens of students run around THAT corner. In other words, in this video, I see flashbacks of pranksters yelling,"Oh shit!! while running to imaginary bodies. I have yet to see anyone post actual time marks where this 'lady' supposedly gets hit.
I thought the description said "hit BY a Sounder" rather than after. The Cascades' appearance already scared me shitless, let alone the monotone radio reply. I do feel sorry for the family of the woman and the crew, but much could've prevented this event.
A fully loaded train at that speed can take a quarter of a mile to a half mile to come to a complete emergency stop. (Frieght trains are worse, they can take a mile to stop) The driver probably never noticed until it was too late.
@@ember_shep8181 No offense, but I didn't mean that the engineer could've prevented this. The woman could've prevented this instead, but it seems that she had given up on everything but the Cascades service.
My neighbor is an engineer for NS. He's told me that they are told in training to figure on killing X number of people in your career. I forget the number. They are also told sometimes it's just out of your hands. Is sad, but it's also part of the job.
I work at the deadliest railroad in america right now. We're told to see at least 4 of em in a year. Not to mention your whole career. I thought it was bullshit, but, on my first ride we almost got one. Chickened out at the very last second. Can't tell you how many close calls I've had since, and its only been 6 months. Got one under my belt already.
I almost puked I heard a smack at the moment of impact. This is very tragic and I was railfanning a train and a rabbit got hit so I didn’t post it because I didn’t want people to get grossed out.
Look at it more closely, start and keep watching from the right side of the tracks at 0:57. you see a small white/yellow mass move onto the tracks right where he hit the brakes. they couldnt have seen the woman if she came from the other side. she walk from the right side. just keep watching.
if you look really, really close, and I mean... like a hawk, right at the section under the bridge. Right before the Amtrak passes under you can see pale yellow pixels move to the tracks and then vanish
Davion Mills look at it on a laptop! It’s a tiny black dot in front of the white vehicle thing Lefto of the tracks! If you’re on mobile than you are going to have look really closely! I also think the person who posted should just zoom in so that it would be easier for the viewers! Peace!
She did not jump from the bridge. Read the description. It's very hard to see, but look UNDER the bridge at around 0:55. She passes over the right tracks.
On March 23, 2010 a 20-year-old woman was killed by an Amtrak train at Sunnyside Beach in Steilacoom (TNT). On October 26, 2008 a woman using a walker was struck and killed by a train as she tried to cross to Sunnyside Beach in Steilacoom, as reported by Mike Archbold in the Tacoma News Tribune. I think it was the 2010 in March
How is it we are hearing the radioed voice of the train engineer, apparently, and guys out in the open filming this? Are they in some kind of control house or something where they routinely talk to the engineers?
It's back near the signal bridge. You might need a larger monitor to see it. EDIT: if your keen eyed though you can see her on a smartphone screen. It's easiest of you follow the tracks and look for the "hump" in the tracks, that hump is her laying on the tracks
I was being sarcastic. I got it from one of the comments but it being old footage and far away it's already hard to see. That being said, how in the world was it taken down before? Can't really tell anything.
And obviously these guys were so traumatized by the event they put on you tube for views, also a little disturbing how you cant see the woman get torn to pieces, so helpful people are helping you find the moment of death by breaking the video down, how nice....
I'm applaud his professionalism, it's not easy to not flip out after killing a person, but flipping out in a train is a bad thing to do. Feel bad for the engineer, it must have t him
She was laying down by a pile of rubble at the far end of the track, look real closely; she crawled right in the path at the last second then the train blocks our view then her head hit the train and was smashed open
The engineers first thoughts when starting the day: ok gonna go to work have a good day come home and eat a warm meal with my family The engineers thoughts at the end of the day: how did this happen. why did it happen to me. what could I of done to stop it. will people think I did it on purpose. Honestly suicidal people are selfish and if you see a suicidal person hand them over to authorities before they do something like this that lady was selfish she ended her “suffering” and gave it to some one else aka the engineer and possible any passenger who witnessed the ordeal trauma like that is something you can never forget I have zero sympathy for suicidals who are willing to scar someone else’s life because they don’t wanna live anymore you wanna kill your self so badly do it where no one will see what if there where kids there you just going to destroy those kids mental health because your selfish ass doesn’t wanna live anymore
The reason why it's difficult to see the woman is because she's wearing white and is blending in with the white background in the distance. But, if you look closely enough at around the 0:52-56 mark you can see the woman walking across the tracks (from the right-side; focus towards the signal, bottom of the pole and you'll see the white figure appear and begin crossing) where the first train passed and then walks right into the oncoming train. It happens very quickly and that's why the guys video taping are in complete shock. She literally stands right in front of the oncoming train (the second train). That's why those guys are totally freaked out, because they probably thought she'd keep going to the other side, but she didn't. It's a real suicide unfortunately.
Umm no she was wearing black and she was on the other side of the tracks walking from the direction of that red brick building in the background. She wasn't wearing white if you slow down the video at the 1.02 mark you can see the locomotive toss her body to the ground beside the track.
In Florida people be like it's the trains fault for going too fast literally a few people kill themselves a week by standing on the tracks and they literally blame the trains saying how are they supposed to know the train is coming
"We hit a lady and killed her."

No I still couldn't make it out. The view is too far away for me.
"We hit a lady and killed her"
Ten years later i hope that engineer is doing ok knowing that he basically was forced to take part in a suicide
I don't see anything either how did they know there was a suicide
Did you not hear the radio?
Joseph Brister I watched the original after the first train pass you can see someone walk across the tracks.
It’s a good thing you didn’t see it
EARTH ANGEL😇. I. Didn’t see anything either, where and when did they hit her??
@@earthangel6480 I don't know but I also had a person do that same exact thing behind my old house where a main csx line sits I still can't forget it even now so how are you nice to hear from you today

"UA-camr Snowflakes removed it lol xd"
Something is wrong with this dude.
TechSavvyCat IT'S OBVIOUSLY THE SJW SNOWFLAKES WHO REMOVED THE VIDEO!!1!!!!!1!!!! /s
I love how excited they are haha. The guy just starts running. Woohoooo get to see a dead body.

Still wondering why those guys were running to her.
Just a poor soul wanted relief from a tortured existence.
You ain't putting her back together y'all
Maybe they thought she may have survived, it's a natural instinct for some people to try and help. Some victims have survived attempted train suicides, although it's extremely rare.
this was filmed exactly where I go to railfan, which is why I watched.
Scanners are a railfans best friend. We know when the train is at least 5 miles out.
leaders must create institutions to help people who want to commit suicide with dignity and without violence, there are methods of death without suffering,
I don't understand why legal euthanasia isn't a thing, virtue signal bullshit probably
it exists in Switzerland....they kill you gently if you want, a simple sleeping pill,
OH SHIT WHY??? WHY!? This is so sad to watch this! At first I dont see anything but its hard to see but in the description it says it all. Please dont take you life away 😢
As someone who once planned a suicide by train, this video hit pretty close to home for me
@@cpufreak101 I tried few times but I never would end it with a train..don't do it that way,it's a terrible end and even more terrible thing for train drivers and all other people that will eventually witness your end and pick up pieces of you later..if you really decided to end everything,do it without involving other people.
a good day for some railfanning. gone south real quick. why does this always have to happen. even if your life is bad. you can always turn it around, dont just end it before you try to fix things
but if you decide to do it then don't involve other people like train drivers, they have nothing to do with your life, don't ruin their life

Ive seen you guys in puyallup filming trains come by....is this what you do it for?
I only saw her body as the last car passed over her
I can see the woman walking out and lying down, but it doesn't look like she's actually on the tracks? Looks like the train just passes her?
Maybe it's just the bad quality causing everything to blend.
I was able to see it by opening it on my MacBook and zooming in as much as I could.
Well I’ve watched it 5 times and I can’t see anything.
I didn’t see anything happening anywhere... am I the only one?
At 1:01 you can see the body flopping around after the last train car runs over it.
@@bendtfender2894 I Saw it!
Seeing absolutely nothing other than 2 trains on the track
1:00 the moment you waiting for
Anyone else "accidentally" click on this recommended video??
RIP lady
There’s nothing in this video. It’s just a train passing by.
(Frieght trains are worse, they can take a mile to stop)
The driver probably never noticed until it was too late.
@@ember_shep8181 No offense, but I didn't mean that the engineer could've prevented this. The woman could've prevented this instead, but it seems that she had given up on everything but the Cascades service.
@@ROKMAN1445exactly the engineer is probably going to therapy after what happened
This should be catagorized under education

My neighbor is an engineer for NS. He's told me that they are told in training to figure on killing X number of people in your career. I forget the number. They are also told sometimes it's just out of your hands. Is sad, but it's also part of the job.
I work at the deadliest railroad in america right now. We're told to see at least 4 of em in a year. Not to mention your whole career. I thought it was bullshit, but, on my first ride we almost got one. Chickened out at the very last second. Can't tell you how many close calls I've had since, and its only been 6 months. Got one under my belt already.
This video shocked, and creeped me out, the way it was, i just got images of a sliced open body while viewing this....im still trying to figure it out
I almost puked I heard a smack at the moment of impact. This is very tragic and I was railfanning a train and a rabbit got hit so I didn’t post it because I didn’t want people to get grossed out.
Look at it more closely, start and keep watching from the right side of the tracks at 0:57. you see a small white/yellow mass move onto the tracks right where he hit the brakes. they couldnt have seen the woman if she came from the other side. she walk from the right side. just keep watching.
maybe it's a good thing the resolution wasn't that great
13 years later and i feel sorry for that family :(
Was the Sounder not good enough or something
Tyler Steinberg - It was _suicide_
I didn't see it
Davion Mills nether did i
if you look really, really close, and I mean... like a hawk, right at the section under the bridge. Right before the Amtrak passes under you can see pale yellow pixels move to the tracks and then vanish
Hard to see on a phone
Davion Mills look at it on a laptop! It’s a tiny black dot in front of the white vehicle thing Lefto of the tracks! If you’re on mobile than you are going to have look really closely! I also think the person who posted should just zoom in so that it would be easier for the viewers! Peace!
200 people that disliked this thought it was a joke
She did not jump from the bridge. Read the description. It's very hard to see, but look UNDER the bridge at around 0:55. She passes over the right tracks.
you're right I looked there and I only saw how the woman crossed and ended up being hit by Train
This was on June 24, 2010, and at Pyuallup
How is it we are hearing the radioed voice of the train engineer, apparently, and guys out in the open filming this? Are they in some kind of control house or something where they routinely talk to the engineers?
They're using a scanner.
Which pixel was the lady?
It's back near the signal bridge. You might need a larger monitor to see it.
EDIT: if your keen eyed though you can see her on a smartphone screen. It's easiest of you follow the tracks and look for the "hump" in the tracks, that hump is her laying on the tracks
I was being sarcastic. I got it from one of the comments but it being old footage and far away it's already hard to see. That being said, how in the world was it taken down before? Can't really tell anything.
-Did you get that on video?!
-YEAH!
-YESSS!!
Talking as if they're happy about it
"Did you get that on video"
"Yes"
*"YES"*
I could not even tell if there was a lady there...
There was :/
In front of the white building to the left of the left track, you can see someone crawling toward the track.
Wow, I remember when this was uploaded the first time. I wonder what the radio chatter was like.
Well I mean you can hear it
AMTK 6908 Only one line though
It was one of those HO scale people from RC Hobbies on the track. That's why it was hard to see.
Sometimes, female insects (ants, mosquitoes) walk on the tracks. I think that's what we saw.
Two trains, No jumper...
She was laying on the tracks.
And obviously these guys were so traumatized by the event they put on you tube for views, also a little disturbing how you cant see the woman get torn to pieces, so helpful people are helping you find the moment of death by breaking the video down, how nice....
fucking tragic but that ending gets me every time
"oh SHIT"
"did you get that on video ?"
"yes"
" *YES* "
Dude where is the lady?
Amtrak: Hello Sounder!
Sounder: Watch out for that lady.
Amtrak: WHAT!?
What the? Are the cars the same to those operated by GO?
It's Amtrak Cascades
Didn't see anything, where did she come from?
The guy on the radio is so calm like this has happened before he's just like "we hit a lady, killed er"
I'm applaud his professionalism, it's not easy to not flip out after killing a person, but flipping out in a train is a bad thing to do. Feel bad for the engineer, it must have t him
“Did you get that on video?!”
“Yes!”
“YESSS”
This sounds like the worst brass section you'd ever want to hear.
I thought it happened on the first pass of the train? When you see the train coming toward the camera then it suddenly bounces
Ukraine2011 rail joints for the bouncing
@@System6VideoProductions Oh. I had the idea it was there she was taken out. Quite a heavy bounce
@@System6VideoProductions Must have been right down there under the lights near the building where it happened?
She was laying down by a pile of rubble at the far end of the track, look real closely; she crawled right in the path at the last second then the train blocks our view then her head hit the train and was smashed open
I'm an engineer..I hit one yesterday in NY...I guess that's why i'm here.
1:02 if you look closely you can see something fall off the track next to the rear engine
Damn, thanks man. Only time I saw her.
I saw that it too 🤢!
The engineers first thoughts when starting the day: ok gonna go to work have a good day come home and eat a warm meal with my family
The engineers thoughts at the end of the day: how did this happen. why did it happen to me. what could I of done to stop it. will people think I did it on purpose.
Honestly suicidal people are selfish and if you see a suicidal person hand them over to authorities before they do something like this that lady was selfish she ended her “suffering” and gave it to some one else aka the engineer and possible any passenger who witnessed the ordeal trauma like that is something you can never forget I have zero sympathy for suicidals who are willing to scar someone else’s life because they don’t wanna live anymore you wanna kill your self so badly do it where no one will see what if there where kids there you just going to destroy those kids mental health because your selfish ass doesn’t wanna live anymore
looking for comment to understand what happened.
At 55 you can actually see a blurry pixel going towards the train and then as the guy says "ohh" you'll hear a smack
WHY ARE YOU POSTING THIS ?!
Where is the lady that got kill at I don't see her on video
0:56 looks VERY close below the white bridge on the little right, you could see the white dot
There is nothing in the video, literaly nothing, just some dude screaming ''whole shit''
I can Barely see the Lady get hit by the Train, What was She doing on the Tracks and Did the Train Stop after Hitting Her?????????
She was commiting suicide and yes the train stopped and had a 45 minute delay

Damn I feel bad for the people working there, probably being involved in these suicides more than 4 times per month.
Camera quality nerfed, plz make 108OP (1080p)
It's from 2010, UA-cam didn't allow 1080p uploads then, and cheaper video cameras then did only record in 360p
I’ve put it on the slowest speed and don’t see a thing there’s about 4-5 people on the overpass down beyond the signal???...
In Florida people be like it's the trains fault for going too fast literally a few people kill themselves a week by standing on the tracks and they literally blame the trains saying how are they supposed to know the train is coming
my quality is limited to 360P UA-cam sucks.
Where is thr lady, i cant see her
I had to watch it about 30 times before I finally saw it.
You saw it??? I can not
That’s gotta be one mess to clean up
Well it depends on the impact, sometimes the train hit them and they fly to the side of the road other times the body get shattered by the rails.
were there other people in the train
