Meet the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet: America's Answer to Advanced Air Combat
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лют 2023
- The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is a twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Boeing. It is a larger and more advanced version of the original F/A-18 Hornet, and is used by the United States Navy as well as several other countries. The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet has a unique feature called the "multi-mission reconfigurable cockpit," which allows it to be easily configured for different mission requirements, such as air-to-air combat, air-to-ground strikes, and electronic warfare.

1:33 VFA-143 the “Pukin Dogs”, a strike fighter squadron that my father was a part of from ‘84-‘86! Of course, they still flew the F-14 Tomcat back in those days.
It was an awesome jet to work on, a true workhorse!
Such a great tactical fighter, my uncle piloted the F4 phantom in Vietnam when I was around 10 years old and I was in awe but this jet is a stalwart for America for such a long time 🇺🇸
Great to see the F18 getting some love. Cooler newer jets have been getting all the attention lately. F35, F22, B21 bomber
I know I use to order parts for the Aircraft in Japan.😊
I was a plane captain, then a hydraulic and structural mechanic on the first f-18's A's, served on board the USS Midway with VFA 195,
By far my favorite jet. It’s all in one. Even though the bock 2 is obviously supersonic, they say the block 3 will be faster And have a better thrust to wait ratio. But still be able to get really slow for dog fighting with his leading extensions
My favourite fixed wing aircraft of all time! Would love to see a gen 4++ version of this with some subtle stealth modifications.
Better increase BVR capabilities, radar instead of considering stealth. Let that be the job of F35
@@ry0usama511 block 3 fills that in perfectly
I'm sure it's going to get a coat of radar resistant paint on it,to help lower the cross section of the fighter.
Watch out for Australia's F/A 18's - the Air Force are upgrading them fully to keep them in service until 6th Gen Fighters arrive... So you'll get to see them soon!
Won't happen as Boeing is ceasing production of the Super Hornet in 2025.

Narrator: It was highly capable of performing multiple roles
Video: FA18 does a roll. Good boy.
The super hornet is very just the tip of the fleet of battle ships and support vessel. Now that is the impressive part.
Impressive aircraft that can ruin your day, thanks Sam and the awesome crew at U.S. Military News. 👍🇺🇲
My aircraft 🇺🇸🇲🇺
Both squadrons I served with are in this video, Sea duty Vfa-86 2013-2019 AO3 86 em 3:56. Then VX-9 2019-2022 for shore duty a test and evaluation squadron as an AO2 with F/A-18 E/F some block 3s and ALSO have F/A-18 EA aircraft . 5:42😅
Thanks for your service! 🇺🇲. My brother served on the enterprise. Mm nuke back in the eighties.
I am a retired US Navy F-14 A/F/A-18 Aviation Electrician. The F/A-18 has done an excellent job of Replacing the aging Tomcats. The United States Navy. Oh yeahhhh.
f14 tomcat vs f18 ? in terms of air to air combat and old fashioned dogfighting, heard in the grapevine that tomcat is king considering its sheer size and engine problems.
ah the F14 at 0:45 still one of the most beautiful planes ever made 😍
Brilliant aircraft.
The Aussies had an interesting line up with F18s and modified F111s for strategic ground attack. Huge a
capability for a small airforce. Now they have superhornets and F35s.
Yes, they also now have a maintenance budget deficit that has the government planning to warehouse over half of the force, only to be brought out as crash replacements or in a time of actual war.
Read the newspaper much?
Canceling the conformal fuel tanks was a bad decision, in my opinion. Obviously I'm not clued in on why the Navy decided to cancel that addition(maybe it caused too much drag or made certain maneuvers more dangerous to pull off or not able to pull off at all now for all we know) the fact that the US military/Navy has been complaining about how its, carrier fighters/aircraft have a low combat range compared to the ranges of older fighters from the 80s(F14) the Navy has stated numerous times how it really needs a fighter/multi strike role fighters that have a combat range of at least 900 to 1k miles. Right now, at best...the F18s have a combat range of 500 to 600 miles.
Between the fight simulators in the 90s featuring this plane and Independence Day the F/A-18 is my personal favorite.
I originally designed the F18E intake shape fresh out of aviation high school, gave it to my higher-ups in the Navy and never heard back from them. Years later I see the new design in a magazine of such a beautiful airplane. This is something that I've lived with my entire life of regrets that I wish I would have done differently. You're Welcome USA Navy.
The F-18 Hornet,is the Navy's F-15 EAGLE HelllllllllYeahhhhhhh
versatile beast for different battle situations, super dynamic fighter
A friend of mine was on the Reagan's first voyage! Great footage!
very cool multi-role fighter
Such a beautiful plane!!
The nimble beast ,samehow i like the F 15 super Eagle ,but seems like the US Navy got some variety of toys to play with .Knowing the new generation fighters i would say they have an incredible capability combined it is lethal.
This video was awesome! Thank you
The Royal Australian Air Force bought the Super Hornet and Growlers as a stop gap measure between the retirement of the F111 and full strength of the F35. Now that the F35 is mostly up to strength, the talk about selling off the Super Hornets has been quietly dropped, and it seems Air Force is very happy with retaining the aircraft. I figure that its versatility and easy maintenance, and its many capabilities are being seen as very complimentary to the F35. I am very happy that it works so well in helping keep us all free, especially in light of Chinese and Russian aggression.
1:35 hey, thats an actual rooster!
I so love this fighter . I'm trying to do a fly along in one .
Super Hornet Very Nice multirole fighter aircraft designed
I hope philippines would get a dozen of this aircraft... stunning ..amazing..
This fighter was featured in top gun maverick but that movie also featured an illegal sky terror weapon: the Su-57.
I guess I'm just too old. I still love my Tomcat more than any other jet.
Amazing 🔥
Thanks so much!
Love this jet! So underestimated!
so beautiful
The FA/18 E-Fs are the third version of the aifcraft. The first was the 1 seater A and 2 seater B. The second version was the 1 seater C and two seater D. The third is the 1 seater E and two seater F. I served as an AE in an F/A 18 squadron of C and D fighters. Take care.
To be correct it's F/A-18E/F
@@HammerOne yes there is F/A-18G which is an electronic warfare aircraft.
@Niwesh Lekhak known as the EA-18 Growler.
@@Murph_gaming FA-18 G can also take part in direct attacks as well electronic warfare.
Sweet 🚀🛩
I used to work and live at Lemoore Naval Air Station. The first operational Super Hornet Squadron was VFA-122 EAGLES. Not VFA-115. VRA-115 was one of my sister squadrons I was in VFA- 113 STINGER. And the other sister squadron was VFA-25 FIST OF THE FLEET(a gauntlet clutching 3 lightning bolts, as seen in TOPGUN).
Very good..
As a jet enthusiast I used to not like the hornet but over the years I must admit I've grown to adore this incredible jet once I got to no this jet I admit I was in wrong the hornet is awesome
Hi Sam, good to hear your voice again.
The concept aircraft at 9:12 looks fantastic.
Thank you uda leaders and military for protecting the world God bless all
I was Powerplants and Line division in VFA103 Jolly Rogers. The Rhinos aren't a Tomcat King of Cool. But the coolest of the Hornet genre
my favorite fighter jets 🤩
You know this thing has a smaller radar cross section than a eurofighter and f-16, and has one of the best AESA radars in existence. Idk it looks fat but gatta repect it, it’s a beast
So powerful.
🙏
Super excellent GE , Boeing & Lockheed Martin engineering & production of US Navy FA 18 # 👍👍👍 🇵🇰
I just ❤ it
One badass airplane.
Vicious craft there
I still say the navy shots themselves in the foot by abandoning the super tomcat 21. Faster, bigger payload, longer range. Dam bureaucrats.
Maintenance still would have been a huge mess like the older tomcats
@@Eirik36 Not necessarily. The F-14A was supposed to be an interim variant that was only intended to serve for less than a decade. Yet due to political interference preventing further development 80% of all F-14s still flying in 2006 when they were retired were A models.
@@Eirik36 that could have been fixed with design changes. like blu-ray vs hd-dvd, beta vs vhs. Now the Navy is needing the same platform the F-14 provided, but won't restart it cause Iran would somehow get ahold of parts to keep their F-14s flying. F-14 still kicking butt, sadly with an enemy state.
What a great platform, a highly weaponised F18 certainly shows how deadly it can be.
Excellent jet
The Super Hornet aka The Rhino… I love the platform still wish they would have went with the ST-21 program.
Superb! Subbed.😁👌👍
4:55 lets goo USS Ronald Reagan. my old Carrier. Peace Through Strength. Started off as a Plane Captain at VFA-131 when they had the FA-18C then went to the Reagan. IT2(AW/SW).
Best looking fighter jet imo
Thanks
From tokyo japan
Love the rhino
Sleek and awesome. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🇺🇲
It puzzles me why the Navy has dropped the conformal fuel tanks. They extend the range, they add lift while reducing drag and they reduce radar cross-section.
I was thinking the same thing! The USAF has long used conformal fuel tanks with its F-15.
Adding lift while reducing drag would break the laws of physics. That is literally impossible.
3:45 Kaneohe Bay, O’Ahu, Hawaii
I just miss the F-14 Tomcat. It was beautiful. I know why they had to scrap it, but still wish they could keep a few on each carrier.
Great plane just to much maintenance required
Nice
where can i get the picture from 4:41 ?
Prior to stealth technology this is the greatest attack aircraft ever manufactured.
no,f15 and tomcat before!
Want to know why they still haven't given a version thrust-vectoring. This would be phenomenal because of the wing surface and tail angle. I was fortunate to have launched the early version prior to Super Hornet, along side the venerable F14. It's come a long way.
Just like any modern car, sticking on a big tablet is new big stick wonder feature...
目前只有F/A18E/F可以滑跳起飛很適合台灣❤❤❤
A carrier based A10 is my Navy wet dream
I had the pleasure of being stationed in the first f-18 squadron on the east coast VFA-131 Wildcats out of NAS Cecil Field fla 1984/1988 , Airlants first and finest !
VMFA 314 El Toro Here. 1st Marine West Coast squadron. Black Knights. Didn't get to stay though.....Still needed F-4 J/S Electricians.
@@bobbyquack4908 Roger that !
My aircraft 🇺🇸🇲🇺
I cant wait to see what they come up with to replace this badass plane
I'll take one! Bright purple, tinted windows, bright silver rims with a thumpin system. With a BLM plate, word.
Junior is going to fly one of these
Still I prefer the F-14. With the same upgrade, the Tomcat frame would still out perform the F-18. However, I can understand the carrier has limited space so the F18 would be the better bang for the buck. I just hope it does not come to bite us in the butt.
Navy should have spent the money to go to the F-21 Super Tomcat
i worked on the Tomcat and the Hornet, Hornet was the easier aircraft to work on but.....i'll take the Tomcat. Had it been modernized they could have gotten rid of all the maintenance and cost issues that plagued it.
@@kevinmorrison827 Pilots flown both prefer F-14 hands down
@@thebigv8644 F-18 Super Hornet was given a go ahead after end of the cold war where US Air Force literally had complete hegemony the Navy basically needed a cheap fighter for it's carrier now it's bitting US Navy in the ass.
When I think of a Jet Fighter, THIS, is the jet I think of.
The 15 is godly, the 14 is goofy ah-ah swept wing, but... the F-18 is a pinnacle on it's own, that, I think will serve nearly as long as the F-15.
What beautiful death machines.
Can only imagine what will be a Super TOMCAT ;)
The Super Hornet will soon also be carrying the new naval anti-ship air launched J-DAM like "Quick-Sink" guided smart bomb.
1 of the great 4th Generation fighters 🥰
How do we know that? It's never been in a real fight.
Better to just have 5th generation fighters to fight.
@@Face_RC It's predecessor have been in real fight F/A-18 A/B/C/D.
Super aircraft
Love the haters that obviously know nothing of the F/A-18 Superhornet they just hate it so much because it replaced there beloved f14 maintenancecat
Bad choice of replacment at the time but the newer hornets are nice
@@ImrightYourenot-zy8ro the super hornet was going to replace it everyone knew it and the block3 super hornet is killer
Welcome to the Indian Navy Superhornet also the GE F414 EPE engine a high thrust variant used on Block III Superhornet produces 26,000 lbs thrust each
Wow... And the single engine F-16 still kicks the shit outa it...
@@265justy Any f-18 with the LEX package installed will out turn the f-16 , Both A/C are impressive thou !
@@kellywilson8440 yeah. Below 230 knots.. Above that the F-16 whips it.
@@265justy F-16 is for sure alot faster , Matching these 2 awesome fighters most likely comes down to the skill of the pilots in a fight but will never happen .
Speed does not make it lethal. F18 is more maneuverable in dog fighting than the F16.
Never forget that before the mission was call Operations Iraqi Freedom, “OIF”. It was called Operation Iraqi Liberation, “OIL”.
…..leaving 1,000,000+ dead Iraqis
It wasn't really oil that the US elites were after. If you don't know, the Dollar is a fiat currency and the only thing holding its value is that its the world's reserve currency, known as the Petro-dollar. Sadam, who the US put in power, had found some new gold deposits and got a bunch of countries to sign on to making a new gold backed reserve currency. If that happened, it would have destroyed the value of the dollar and the US would have lost a LOT of power.
@@uwekonnigsstaddt524 natural selection
Which has exactly nothing to do with this video.
Ok lost boy
So proud of my country USA ,God bless USA always
God bless America, ever
Wonder why the extended fuel tanks were dropped?
The best navy fighter in the world is F/A 18 super hornet, it is very good successor of F 14
F/A-XX 6th generation fighters will make the jaws of the world drop! 🇺🇸Our Might Always🇺🇸
Wow... finally ... a decent replacement for the F-14a
The Super Hornet has two additional Wing store stations as opposed to 9 on the Legacy Hornet the Super Hornet has 11.
I remember when CNN announced a Syrian jet was shot down violating the No-Fly Zone and they announced that it was shot down by a Navy Super Hornet
So block 3 if calculations are correct adds about 6,000 lbs more then legacy hornet at 10,890 full internal super hornet jumped that to 13,000 and change and now block 3 add an additional 3500 lbs jumping it up to about the same or more then a fully internal fueled tomcat.
My fave jet fighter.
Never let the world down in the historic battle for independence back in 1996.
And there are unknown objects out there that can easily, again easily outpace and outmaneuver theses beauties.
Speed and maneuverability are not really important anymore.
The western missiles these things can fit are the real danger, you don't want to be dog fighting in this day and age.
It could be the best fighter we have if it could boost the thrust as it's a bit under powered otherwise it's great
In fact lower thrust is better as the range improves.
Its great to see that the NAVY do not really want the f35c
It might be as good as the F-15 Strike Eagle............At least it can fly with one wing.
