Sir as much as I love your work and photography, as an Afghan I find it heart-breaking that your work was used politically in America to rationalize the idea of arming the Afghan Mujahideen. By the way, it was not really the Afghan Army or the Russians that were destroying Afghanistan, it was these very religious fanatics with American funds and weapons who would ultimately cause the most civilian deaths and a total destruction of the nation from its roots. My dad used to work for the government back then, and the villages that you mentioned being "bombed by Afghan Army" were actually areas that had started attacking Afghan army convoys and were used to train resistance fighters. It was the government's duty to wipe them out.
Amazing man and talent mesmerising images i am 46 been shooting a year and just been laid off work due to health, no savings but i have a good family and a camera.......time to study and learn from guys like you.Hopefully i can get back to work but in the meantime i am searching for a project to start, any ideas where i can start off small i am London based many thanks Mr McCurry?
Stunning images by Steve - almost his entire pro life dealt with. But very badly edited video. The voice level is much below the music level and the photos go off before you make out what they are about, unless you have seen them before. Don't expect this from his studio, which have produced marvelous videos earlier. What do you say Steve?
"I'm just a photographer" ... It's nice that someone who has achieved so much, can still be so humble.
*Amazing life, amazing photos, amazing memories, amazing photographer that changed the world*
true legend
