Whoever runs the NPS social media account has a fantastic sense of humor. They have tons of funny posts.

Holy cow! Relatively new listener, but I never thought I'd hear John mention Cortland.
I grew up just outside Cortland. Spitting distance from the FLT, used to backpack to Greek Peak and camp up there every weekend for years.

Cortland is nice. SUNY Cortland hosts a fantastic NEH teacher seminar in the Adirondacks focusing on the Great Camps. Next one is 2026 I think. 10/10 very highly recommended for outdoorsy teachers.

3 things. First: Carter caves is great! I live near Ashland so that's a regular go-to for me. Backpacking podcast day hike meetup to do the 4 Cs trail should happen. Second: Sous vide is 🤌. Roasted potatoes for the win. Third: first pilots are washing clothes in hotel coffee pots and now a guys are coming nachos in hotel bathrooms. Is Jeremiah on hotel hacks tiktok?

I make a "summers worth" of meals and keep them in my freezer ready to go so if an impromptu trip comes up I can just grab and go. It takes a weekend to make my meals but it's well worth it. SO MUCH cheaper. I wish I would have known this about u when we camped with Carl last spring. I would have loved to have swapped recipes. I get my recipes from backpacking chef. I take his ideas and make them my own. My own meals taste so much better than store bought garbage for sure! I also put spices on the side and add later. Have fun making ur meals!

I like listening to you guys and your very interesting content. Y'all compliment each other very well. I have to say though Jeremiah, I wish you weren't so smitten with Elon, I've lost count of how many times you've mentioned him. I used to think highly of him but that's been lost since he came out as pro X-felon-in-Chief, on X. As a veteran it hurts to see their abuses. So please please focus on the subjects y'all are so good at. BTW, unless you can find a way to make Earth's atmosphere disappear, there will never be "noiseless helicopters" (or drones or rockets or any fan). But I do appreciate what you said that led you to make that comment. 🇺🇸

JK ,, talk to your local butchers ,, I think your off on the cost of processing an animal ... many factors to consider ....... Hunting for your own meat is a lot like growing your own large garden ,,, Not really a saving in dollars ,, with cost of equipment ,, ammo,, vehicle and fuel and time off work ,,,,, but you know what you have .. PLUS ,, the experience of the camp and hunt ....

.... Saw the hunt video ,, looks like fun ... NOT .... ... JS ,, Not correct on differing bear species ,, time for homework ..
