I like that he continued to speak of Bill in the present tense.
Bill is a Great Man!
How incredibly genuine Larry Bird is.
Agree and that’s why he bonded with Walton imo
When he retired, I just couldn't watch basketball from then all the way until Steph Curry came on the scene… I just wasn't interested. I guess I got used to Larry Byrd all the players after him kind of bored me… Keep in mind I don't understand and you probably all can tell
Sometimes you don't have to say anything and that in itself speaks volumes.
Well said Larry, very well said,, RIP Bill Walton
Bill broke my heart in '77 beating my Sixers. RiP
Appreciate this insight about Bill. What a man. Thanks, Larry, for sharing.
Speaking of Bill like he is still with us. The ultimate respect. Because our loved ones never really leave us❤
He is " sleeping " though
They say that a man suffers two deaths: the first is when your body gives out, and the second is when no one remembers you anymore. By this metric, Bill Walton will be with us a very long time.
Bird always speaks the truth.
He gave u the bird! LOL
That's true. Always the truth
Bird is right in his assessment of the big man.def the best big man in blazer history and in the nba.as an oregonion I loved the dude.
Respect.
Bill Walton was one of the most likable guys I have ever seen. He inspires me to appreciate the little things that make life a blessing.
That 86 team is the best I have ever watched play the game.

Well done Larry. We were so blessed to have both of you guys here in Boston. Walton idolized you Larry and he cherished the fact that he was Celtic. Thank you both for the 86 ride and Everything else.
Not Only Did He Add Technically To The Celtics In 86 And 87 But He Was Also Their Biggest Cheerleader ...
Always Enjoyed Watching Him Play And Always Enjoyed His Commentary ...
I've Been Blindsided By This ... I Didn't Even Know That He Was Sick ...
Thanks Bill ...

Larry definitely hit the nail on the head with his comments. RIP BILL & THANKS FOR EVERYTHING.
RIP Bill Walton ☘️🏀
Larry always gives a classy answer. That doesn't sound like the normal NBA BS narrative. And he talks trash funny from a place of confidence and love. People don't get it. But that is truly what a
Real One Is.
Bird and Walton playing together played the highest level of 🏀 ever played.
Their pass/cuts/basket were works of art🏀
Uhhh yeah they did a good job but let's not get ahead of ourselves
There is something in the way Larry speaks (not only about Bill Walton): thoughtful, focused, choosing his words carefully, respectful. You can immediately notice how decent and wise guy he is.
Bill walton held his own .all banged up.Nothing but respect.
God Bless Bill Walton, and God Bless Larry Legend❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So sad. Bill was one of Larry Bird's biggest fans. RIP.
It is the essence of civility, integrity, effort & excellence - Bill & Larry - what a wondrous thing to behold.
Bird admired Bill from watching him on TV at UCLA & 1977 Blazers🏆🏀
RIP Big Red!
Legend Respect
Walton was probably the best college player of all time! Because he did much more for his team than any other player in history!!!
Bird and Walton are two of the highest basketball IQ guys to ever play the game. And that 85-86 team was one of the smartest and most dominant teams ever, in any sport🍀🏀
I wish they were both in their prime and played together, it would have been something 👍👍👍👍
Yep, NONE of the post years politics that the Bulls Championships had and all they're drama. Top to bottom, the '86 might be the GREATEST NBA team ever 🤔
Very well said Larry 😢
That 86☘️ TEAM 🏆 amazing
RIP Bill Walton
Sounds like a good guy. My condolences.
Watched Bill play at Helix High school. San Diego. Amazing player.
Larry is 1st class
I'm sorry to hear of his passing
God rest his soul 🙏
Bird is a class act! Nice eulogy!

Magic Johnson always said Larry Legend is a straight shooter. Larry gonna tell ya what's on his mind, rather you like it or not.
Whose Larry Legend?

I couldn't get over the breaths he was taking while talking. I hope Larry's okay 😕
I've been noticing that for years. It's just the way he talks. Seen him in multiple interviews, he just breathes like that when talking. He does many speaking engagements. He's fine.
He has had heart trouble in the past.
Bill Walton was one of my all time favorites, it's to bad that his feet were terrible with injuries 😞😞😞
They had a beautiful tribute to him at the Dead & Co. concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas last week. Great photos of him enjoying the music and enjoying himself with Jerry Garcia and the band. He was a huge Grateful Dead fan. It was inspiring and respectful. He loved them & they loved him back.
This guy was a bad man back in the day, larry legend
Bill was one of if not the best passer that ever played the game
What a great tribute. Doesn't get any better!
Great giant that will be very missed! Awesome humanitarian! Such sad sad news😢!!!
He will be missed 😢 💔 😔 😞
Wow when did he pass away? I always loved listening to Bill. A great player and an even better story teller. Rest in peace mister Walton.
Wow you're kidding me he's been dead since May 27th, where have you been? Maybe watching too much UA-cam? It was all over the internet
Watch the final 3 minutes of game 4 of the 1986 NBA Finals, where Bill came in due to the Chief being winded, to see how Walton was always thinking 2 steps ahead of the everyone else. A big defensive rebound, the big offensive rebound as he snuck in around the back of The Dream and instantly put it back up for a huge basket. But, watch Bill's pass to Bird to set Larry up for a relaxed 3 pointer after the time out with very little time on the clock to basically put the nail in the coffin. Bill let 2 cutters come through, knew where Bird would be, followed the last guard as he cut through with his head and eyes along with a type of fake pass that actually loaded up the no-look pass he then fired to Bird that landed right where it had to be for Larry to get off a relaxed 3 point shot to put the nail in the coffin. If Bill doesn't freeze Bird's defender for that extra split second, Bird doesn't get an easy, uncontested shot. Bird often said that Walton was the best passing big man he ever played with. Even though Walton said after the game that he thought he didn't play well and didn't have a feel for that game, he went 5 for 5 shooting besides. Those were the moments that Walton provided throughout the magical 86 season (he played in 80 games) to give The Chief a much needed rest, without a drop in talent inside, and it's why that 86 Celtics team is in the argument as the best NBA team ever. I was a Bucks fan back then, when I still followed the NBA, but you have to give credit to where it is due.
I was fortunate enough to have Bill Walton’s autograph. I will always remember, when we were ere shaking hands how small mine looked in comparison to his.RIP BILL
What a loss to this world. Bill was and will always be remembered as a great human being, not just as a sports figure. You made this world a better place to be. Rest in peace.
Thank you 🙏 Larry Bird for speaking so highly of one of our great 😊 ❤❤❤❤❤😮
Why is Larry struggling to breathe in ?!???
Bless them both
Bill Walton was one of the great centers of all-time. He played at another level.
No one better than to give the props to Bill Walton ❤❤☘️☘️☘️
And Bill always spoke very highly of Larry as well!
Bill knew what was important in life! He lived by it! played by it! He was just it! Highlander, Bruin, Trailblazer, Celtic! R.I.P. Big Guy!
Before his ankles gave out he was the very very best center
God Bless you Bill, you're gonna be missed. ❤🙏😪
I ran into Bill Walton at a Neil Young concert in Boston. What a humble man. Always took the time to watch and listen to him in college, NBA, broadcasting booth, and playing the 2K video game with my son. THANK YOU BILL FOR EVERYTHING.
Yes sir Mr. Bird RIP BILL WALTON
The best passing team in the half court I have ever seen. As a Laker fan that 1986 Celtic squad healthy was one of the top title teams ever. Losing one Game to Portland, ironically at home. I say ironically because it was to the other team Bill won a title with.
Unfortunately the Lakers did not make the Finals that year, unlike 1989 where I wanted to see my Lakers play versus the Pistons healthy to see what would have happened, in 1986 even if we beat the Rockets we did not have enough to beat this Celtic squad too much due what Bill Walton brought them when healthy.
RIP Bill Walton…I was fortunate to be around his grandson in Basketball camp they are a wonderful family!
Oh no I didn't know that I watched every UCLA game when he was in College RIP BILL WALTON
God bless white basketball players
Walton really only had 2 seasons where he was truly healthy come playoff time, 1977 and 1986. Both times he got a ring. When Bill was healthy he could dominate.
I remember Bill's NCAA run the year he went 21-22, and beat Memphis State in the final 4 championship game. In the early 70's. I recall how dominant he was in that game.
I remember Bill saying " We only had one play in the playbook, get the ball to Larry"
Did you need much else back then? No.
Does Larry have breathing problems? Not making a joke. He is a favorite of mine. I just keep hearing breath sounds.
Bill loved Larry. RIP BILL.
Loved Bill. A down to earth man, genuine and a humanitarian. If not for the injures he's a top 50 player.
86 Celtic
Always my dream team
Bill brought a lot of energy and passion to the game, he just didn't use them much, Walton was already past his prime when He joined the Celtics...
We need more Bill Walton stories LB!!
I remember Bill Walton was the first sports analyst to say that the Fab 5, with all those Freshman would make it to the Final Four. He recognized their talent and unselfishness.
Does Larry sound stressed with his breathing? RIP Bill Walton.
Bill was an incredible player, among the best to ever play, it was incredibly unfortunate that he just couldn’t get healthy
If not for bad feet, who knows what he could have accomplished. He had the best final in NCAA history
Well said.
Walton was probably the best college player of all time! Because he did much more for his team than any other player in history!!!
Two from that 86 team have passed now with DJ and Walton. Crazy.
That's respect right there 💯👍🏀
From one great player to another.
Such an encouragement and motivation.
So sad to lose Bill, he gets to see Jerry Garcia,#GratefulDead, 🙏🏽❤️✌🏽🏀
I was honestly prepared for A.I. making this statement.
Team player dude is a rare find
R.I.P. Bill. Fly high!! Condolences to all who loved him 💜
Bill Walton the original hippie baller... RIP Sir...
Coming from Larry Bird it speaks super volumes !
Anybody else notice the way he's breathing..???
2 great guys who didn't have any racism in their bones,
Larry Legend
Product of john wooden how could he not be a great teammate and friend and pass that wisdom on
In his prime Walton was as good as any center!!!!!
Thank you Larry
He was a great ballplayer and a great human being ❤❤❤❤
Larry's breathing sounds a bit raspy.
Will miss the big guy. Saw him at Helix High.
Love bill walton was a very good man ❤
In his prime he was better than anyone❤
