Norman Lear's peak was before I was born. I'm grateful to get this brief insight into the life of someone who clearly was extremely dynamic and influential.
These shows have been my favorites of all time. As a kid watching the reruns starting in the late 1970's thru the 1980's all thru now. They cannot be duplicated, replicated. What a lucky time we all witnessed.
In addition to all his other accomplishments, Lear was a consultant--and huge fan--of South Park..in fact, Cartman is a kid cartoon version of Archie Bunker. An astonishing talent & American patriot/WW2 vet. a life well lived..
We will never forget the legacy of Norman Lear. Even towards the end of his life, he still was doing things for TV. In 2019, ABC ran the "Live in front of a studio audience", which had actors play roles from a specific episode from different Norman Lear shows. While they were pretty good, my only complaint is that I would have done all that I could do to air those specials on CBS rather than ABC. I know it's not really important, especially since Norman Lear had shows on all three networks like Sanford & Son which was an NBC Show. However, when you think of Norman Lear, you think of CBS and vice-versa. And considering the prestige CBS has from the news department (Murrow, Cronkite, 60 Minutes, Sunday Morning) to sports (the NFL, March Madness, Golf, SEC Football (from '96 to '23), and now B1G Football (from 2023 going forward)) to daytime (Let's Make a Deal, the Price is Right, the longest running Daytime Drama in American Broadcast history (GL), the top rated Daytime Drama of the 1960s and 1970s (ATWT), the most watched Daytime Drama in the World (B&B), and the top rated Daytime Drama for almost 35 consecutive years (Y&R), it would have made a lot more sense to (at least try to) air the "Live in front of a studio audience" specials on CBS (who historically is No. 1) rather than ABC (who is historically No. 3). But that's not the important thing right now. What is important is that Norman Lear revolutionized an entire industry.
Y’all meant Eric Monte Good Times Sanford & Son and Jefferson’s was the writer l, he produced , and stole that man idea and later gave him credit after a lawsuit, anyway may he rip🙏🏽
You know, I watched some of these shows growing up. One thing has become very clear to me in 2024. They were products of their time AND we only had three networks, so there wasn’t any choice of anything to watch. I try to go back and watch these clips now and I’m just aghast at how bad it is, at least in the modern sensibility. Not being snobbish either, I just don’t think a lot of it is very good.
I was born in the late 90's I discovered All In The Family when I was nine although my parents told me not to repeat Archie Bunker's advice. They had a complete VHS collection of All In The Family but the show taught me not every conservative is like Archie Bunker and not every liberal is like Mike Stivic. My family is conservative but they're not like Archie at all and there are some liberals in my family and they're nothing like Mike.
Norman Lear change the face of television his amazing work started with all in the family the Jeffersons good times and Sanford and son one day at a time and Maude Norman Lear was trying to put the show to come together black or white it doesn't matter what color they are or race it's about racistim eportion and others Norman was born in 1922 he served in war war 2 Norman Lear is amazing and his extrodenry career look back Mike Wallace interview Norman Lear on April 11 1976 Norman was 54 years old
😮 Now that's enough I'm really extravagant I want my original account stolen with my personal details don't talk until my Sea account is attached this is a real crime,
God loves you and takes care of you so that this message reaches you. God is the one who created this great universe and has complete control over it. And the greatest loss that a person loses in this life is that he lives while he does not know God who created him, knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. The great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and then you have the choice to believe in it or not. I advise you on this now before you do not have time to do that.

Go with God Mr. Lear.
Thanks for the memories. 💔
Or satan lol
Norman Lear was also a WWII veteran who flew 52 combat missions as a radio operator/gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress.
RIP Norman! ✌🏽🇺🇸🙏
Thank you for making the world a better place. Rest in peace Norman Lear.
This man was a genius and long may his story be well-known
We need his 30-min. episodes with historical analysis, as an hr.

Love, love, love Norman Lear!
Damn he was 54 years old when I was born in 76’. He was old even then! RIP
Think about it. That's our grandparents generation. It's like he was a member of the family in some degree.
I'm 47 and was also born in 76.
I was five years old in 1976. Wow 😄 My generation of television thank you, Norman🙏🏿
It's interesting that 60 Minutes covered the white actors and not the black ones. It's Norman's black shows that had the higher ratings.
In addition to all his other accomplishments, Lear was a consultant--and huge fan--of South Park..in fact, Cartman is a kid cartoon version of Archie Bunker. An astonishing talent & American patriot/WW2 vet. a life well lived..
RIP to a legend.

ABC biggest blunder was turning down All in the Family.
He created some of the best shows on television
🕊️❤️
They don’t make them like this anymore. And they never will again.
So cool to see the set of Maude in the background in the beginning!
He's cool 😎.
Listening to his audio book “Even This I Get to Experience”
He was way ahead of his time yo, rip
Y’all meant Eric Monte Good Times Sanford & Son and Jefferson’s was the writer l, he produced , and stole that man idea and later gave him credit after a lawsuit, anyway may he rip🙏🏽

Family hour. Thinking back. Didn't know that was a thing...but probably how ABC came up with TGIF.
He was for Fred Harris for President in 1976. Quite a guy.

You know, at first glance. Mike Wallace is Bob Barker in 1976 and vice versa. Same haircut.
Allegedly Lear was a "thief!" #oldnews #ericmonte
U like him

Bernadette Peters??? I can see why it failed.
I hate canned laughing

Isn't this the same guy who stole ideas from a black guy who worked for him? Just another crook.

I'm watching a retrospective about Norman Lear. I have no interest in your proselytising. His programs were part of my culture.
God loves you too!❤️
All's Fair. Guess that one must have been the rare bomb for Lear. RIP to the genius.
