I feel the chances of getting in Canada is way less than other countries. Like the chances are too slim. Thank you for the video, Dr. Thumbs up!

Thanks you so much, this means a lot Chief. As a final year Med student in Nigeria...which do you recommend? CaRMS or Approved jurisdiction?

CARMS easily. Then you’re not limited as to where to practice.

I found your video helpful however, i will need some clarification. Can the 1yr of housejob in Nigeria cover for post graduate exposure in the 4 major departments house officers rotate in? Secondly when you say independent practice does it mean independent in the true sense of the word? Say one working as a medical officer in a general hospital? Thirdly, does the 1 year internship count as part of the minimum of 1-2 of independent practice or it is just 1-2 years of practice plus the housejob? I will appreciate your response

I’m not sure house job qualifies as independent practice as you’re working under supervision and only get your permanent license / registration after house job.

Pls I need clarification on the PRA pathway. Are you saying there are two types? For those who might have completed residency outside Canada and those in residency training(1-2yrs) with rotations you highlighted.

      @tobifasola2017  2 роки тому

The PRA for Family medicine requires the 1-2yrs of PG training. The PRA for specialties like surgery etc require you to have completed training and done some independent work.

sir how feasible is to get job from PRA pathway for a general surgeon in canada with post graduate degree 3 yrs course in general surgery and PHD in gastrosuregry ( 3 yrs course) with 4 years of experience in gastrosurgery (lecturer in teaching hospital) as an IMG.

@@shresthasujan18 PRA for surgical specialties is very difficult to get. An option is to apply for a fellowship, that may lead to an academic position or help you with getting into residency.

Thank you so much for this video, I just want to get some clarification. If I’m to use the route of getting GP training position in UK before returning to Canada, can I still specialize (ie internal medicine) in Canada?

    • @victortom-george1677

I guess the Royal College Exam is for those who have undergone residency training, so if I’m coming to Canada after a 2 or 3 years GP training in UK, how do I go through the Approved Jurisdiction Pathway since it requires a Royal College Exam?

    Hi Doctor
I am Indian citizen graduated from Ukraine, but I was unable to complete Internship in either country nor do I have license. I am positive for canada, can I come as researcher and then clear license exams to work as doctor? Your response will be highly appreciated.
*If yes what I can do in my country to increase the chance if getting hired as researcher in canada.

Do we need a Canadian PR to do PRA? I know we need it for Carms

    • @tobifasola2017

Yes, most times. A few people are able to get a work permit (for the approved jurisdiction pathway) but that is rare.

Thank you for your awsome video 😊
There is another requirement for approved jurisdiction pathway which is :
    Time in Practice requirement
Along with successful completion of all applicable examination components, you must complete a minimum of 5 years of practice in the specialty in any jurisdiction with the final 2+ years of practice in a continuous practice location in Canada. You can then apply to the Royal College for assessment of your time in practice. You must work with the appropriate medical regulatory authority (MRA) to acquire a licence to practise in Canada and complete the minimum two-year requirement.
If you complete all of the training requirements, examination components, time-in-practice requirements, and receive results from a successful assessment of time in practice in Canada, you will be eligible for Royal College certification and invited to join the Royal College as a Fellow.
Would u please explain how difficult it is to get a job after passing the exam without having a license to practice in canada!
