I think a massive one that people don't think about enough is adding a water feature. Not only does this create a nice passive background noise, it attracts wildlife and gives you the chance to try growing some aquatic plants and maybe even keep fish (depending on the size of the pond). I am growing bog arums and water lilies in my border in a multi-tiered mini pond and it definitely fits the aesthetic.
Hi Craig, thanks for this video. What you are able to achieve in the space you have really inspires me to build on what I have. My climate isn't as favorable as yours (USDA 5a) but I have successfully grown several of the plants you featured today. I continue to research how to overwinter things. You explain everything so well, and touch on many things that help me as I build my knowlege about tropical plants. Thanks 🌴
Great design and advice video (as always) thanks. Have you tried spider plants (Chlorophytum) for a tropical effect? I was not a fan because of their 1970s house-plant status but I was gifted four different types and I am now experimenting with the hardiness of them, left in the ground. I left them in the beds and in a hanging basket in the cold glasshouse over winter - the leaves died back in the cold but the fat, white, tubers survived and they have sprung back to life looking fresh and perfect. Next step... trying them outside in the garden. They give a great tropical effect and are so easy to reproduce with the platelets they make.
Nice list Craig! I have found that Fatsia, if they have new growth coming out and they get frosted back, it makes them branch and be more full, which sometimes is nice.
last year i moved out of my parents' and now i have my own garden. this will be the year i start planting properly. just need to acquire the plants i want. wish i could buy from you, but i doubt the UK will join the EU again any time soon.
Great video. How is your musa so tall? I have a few in the garden, but whenever they get to a decent size, they fruit and then die, leaving the pups to take over.
Great video craig, a question I have for you is do you ever look back on your older videos of when you first started your tropical garden and wish you kept it that way?
Hi from Netherlands. Why don't you try Lanonia dasyantha. It can tan min. Minus 3. I have many seedlings so I will introduce some to my garden, and hide if really cold.
My auntie brought some loquat fruits back from Morocco and gave me the nuts, and 6 years later, mine's 12 feet tall. However I have found it very hard to get cuttings to grow from it
Do you have any experience of Eryobotrya deflexa? I gather it's a little smaller and that the new leaves are red, both of which would be a bonus. I've no idea it it's equally cold/frost tolerant though.
Hey Craig, do you know any suppliers I could get a "brassaiopsis mitis" from? I can't seem to find any suppliers for them. Do you know any sources for them?

I couldn’t agree more 😀 Thanks for watching!
Great video. Lots of ideas I will be trying. Thank you.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching 😀
Thanks Craig always interesting with ideas of plants for me .
My pleasure! Thanks for watching 😀
You can plant taro 3:22 . I saw a video here in yt successfully harvest taro tubers. In asia they even eat the leaves and stem.
Looking great Craig! 😍 Keep those fleeces on, another threat of frost tomorrow morning! 🫣 … Not long until Summer!! 😂🤣
All fleeced up again tonight 😀 At least the days are beautiful and warm at the moment!
Hi Craig! Thank you for another great informative video! Growing in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast!

Hi craig. Can you recommend some ferns to grow in a full sun garden that can tolerate some sun please.

That’s a great point, there’s always a silver lining 😀
I have fig tree in my allotment and lots of people told me in the social media its fatsia as the leaves kind of similar.

Thanks! I look back at the old garden but only to see what worked and inspire me for future projects 😀

Do you have any plants you would recommend for southeastern US zone 7b ?
Really like the loquat tree. My loquat is not doing well. New leafs curling and browning... typical

Not at the moment, give it a few weeks and some online nurseries may have them back in stock. Thanks for watching 😀
