We don't have great widespread and affordable internet service for streaming services, let alone spare change to pay for those paid services. It's either FM, or stored music on the device. Phones without a) 3.5mm jack and b) FM Radio are a tough sell. That (and fantastic value for money) is why Xiaomi has made impressive penetration without actually launching officially. My last five phones have consistently been Xiaomi (Mi 4C, Redmi Pro, Mi A1, Poco F1 and K20)
Snapdragon 720G a "low end" mid range chipset?! Since when? This chipset literally has BETTER performance in geekbench than a Snapdragon 845. Not to mention newer generation ISP and DSP. Low end mid range chipsets are the likes of Snapdragon 665, not this one.

I really liked this review, this is the phone I'm saving for but I'm worried for that camera crash ✋😭 overall, it's not that bad, I'll take it 🤗🌸 if I got it, I would only play at low quality and low brightness so it will make the battery to low slower 😄
To redmi users, you will be disappointed as this phone uses google message, contacts and dialer. You will miss, call recording, and sim card contact saving, and many more That back camera design looks to me like "Futurama". Upon knowing the price, Redmi could be moving away from "budget minded" pricing. Cramming all that specs, requires some costs.
theBen didnt know people still use sim card contact saving. I just save it with my google or icloud account. The call record feature, that i will miss.
A lot of big pros and small cons, considering the low price. I'm sure that most of 1000$ phone users would find it excellent... Thanks for your great and honest review, nice pictures by the way ;-)
Because it's not an upgrade for the Note 8 Pro per se, more of an upgrade for the Note 8. Xiaomi just changed the naming structure. If you compared Note 8 to the Note 9S, there are some noticeable upgrades such as the faster processor and bigger battery. In my country, the Redmi Note 9S 4+64 starts at the same price as the Note 8 4+64.
very nice video. @TechTablets , what about the bugs of miui ? have many ? when do you bring the new Realme 6 and 6 pro ? waiting for the global version of realme ?
Good reviews! I do wonder how you measure maximum brightness, since in a few of your reviews the value you gave was (much) lower than reported in tests by Notebookcheck (611 average in test on auto brightness) and GSMArena (575 in test on auto brightness). What they mention in those tests all the time is that max brightness is often much higher if you leave it on automatic brightness. Set it to manual brightness and it'll max out much lower. You called the brightness of the display (465 in your review) a weakness, which it is at 465, but how do you measure that value?
Well i have one question , how do i know which camera am using or if am using the ultra-wide camera while recording audio . Pretty informative review with some extra information that i have heared on other reviews . Personally right now i have a Redmi 7 Note .
i am still rocking my redmi note 7 for 2 years now its so strong and really fast. i dont know i was an apple and samsung user tried out redmi and never regret. i actuaully like my apple still but hate samsung now cause i find their phones overheat alot. m using redmi now and i never overheat and am a heavy gamer
There seem to be 3 configs for the rear/front cameras (MP): 48/16, 64/16, and 64/32, found in various appellations of Redmi Note 9 (S, Pro, Pro Max) and now Poco M2 Pro as well
PS: 2 things: 1- I'm starting to get requests for upgrade from people I got to buy a Redmi Note 4/5/6/7. Maybe you could do a topic on for whom the upgrade is worth it ? I'd assume general performance and pivs/vids are the bigger differences, but I might be missing something. Most reviews focus on "which is best", not "is it worth it or should I delay ?", which to me is the more relevant question. 2- The Realme with its 2x zoom is attracting lots of interest. Main compromise seems battery, and ColorOS. Hope you'll be reviewing that one and doing a head-to-head soon ?
I was tempted by the Note 8 Pro but then saw the battery life comparison tests with the new 9S and couldn't help to be bothered on how appalling it compares with the only trade-off for that being the 64M cam that one never uses because how many times do you do 3 meters prints of your pictures? Mediatek chips are always the same: overclocked to death and in a year you get into trouble. Then there's the RAM: with ROEHSOFT RAM Expander I went from 4GB to 8GB and the performance went berserk and battery life got even better. And this is before the usual tweaks that the new model will receive in order to become even faster. It just looks so much more modern than the Note Pro 8 with that camera layout and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. And, little great thing, the 9S is actually rated splash-proof (the Note 8 Pro isn't). So thanks for your review, it really helped me making my decision on this one, hope I'm settled smartphone-wise for the next 5 years.
Is this better than RN8 pro performance wise on gaming and camera features?. I was planning to have this device but i can't help to wonder if it is actually better than its predecessor RN8 pro which is almost in the same price range with this phone nowadays.
Xiaomi has great phones , I currently have the redmi note 5 and it pretty much satisfies my necessities but if I had to upgrade I would like them to get better screens to their phones and also have like a smaller version phone since a lot of people including me like small phones. Great review btw

Very good review, I've ordered a 6/128gb version for £160 - I'm going to give it to my wife, probably go for a K30 Pro Zoom for myself.

Great video! Any chance you get your hands on a realme x50 pro? I know it's not in same league as this one.
The camera is really good
Congratulations for 300k subscriber and thanks for the review.
im super early
I really liked this review, this is the phone I'm saving for but I'm worried for that camera crash ✋😭 overall, it's not that bad, I'll take it 🤗🌸 if I got it, I would only play at low quality and low brightness so it will make the battery to low slower 😄
To redmi users, you will be disappointed as this phone uses google message, contacts and dialer.
You will miss, call recording, and sim card contact saving, and many more
That back camera design looks to me like "Futurama".
Upon knowing the price, Redmi could be moving away from "budget minded" pricing. Cramming all that specs, requires some costs.
theBen didnt know people still use sim card contact saving. I just save it with my google or icloud account. The call record feature, that i will miss.
Your ignorance is showing.
@@max-lee A lot of us (less developed countries) still use it. Its like you assume evryone is like your status and level.
Call recording is blocked by Google since Android Pie.
@@notagain2856 not in MIUI apps.. even with pie
Maybe I'm not the first who ask what music of your photo demo on your videos? I wud like to know it.
Xiaomi fails on screen arent good, and L1 thats the reason why a sold my redmi note.
This one will have it, I believe.
Mi9 lite has a solid Amoled display for 250-300$
Damn that's was quick!! Great review as always.
It is uglier than note 8 pro
A lot of big pros and small cons, considering the low price. I'm sure that most of 1000$ phone users would find it excellent...
Thanks for your great and honest review, nice pictures by the way ;-)
Worst phone of the year...huge downgrade
Because it's not an upgrade for the Note 8 Pro per se, more of an upgrade for the Note 8. Xiaomi just changed the naming structure. If you compared Note 8 to the Note 9S, there are some noticeable upgrades such as the faster processor and bigger battery. In my country, the Redmi Note 9S 4+64 starts at the same price as the Note 8 4+64.
Glad to see you're doing ok. Thanks for another great review!
very nice video. @TechTablets , what about the bugs of miui ? have many ? when do you bring the new Realme 6 and 6 pro ? waiting for the global version of realme ?
Yes the camera bug is the big one and an unlock black screen bug. I'll mention them in my week review recap.
Oh as for the realme 6 yes I might buy it, the local global version
Good reviews! I do wonder how you measure maximum brightness, since in a few of your reviews the value you gave was (much) lower than reported in tests by Notebookcheck (611 average in test on auto brightness) and GSMArena (575 in test on auto brightness). What they mention in those tests all the time is that max brightness is often much higher if you leave it on automatic brightness. Set it to manual brightness and it'll max out much lower. You called the brightness of the display (465 in your review) a weakness, which it is at 465, but how do you measure that value?
They since increased it with a software update. I measured it with a meter displaying whites
How did you get Antutu benchmark? Been taken down from the play store mate?
Best channel for in depths reviews
Well i have one question , how do i know which camera am using or if am using the ultra-wide camera while recording audio . Pretty informative review with some extra information that i have heared on other reviews . Personally right now i have a Redmi 7 Note .
Great review as always any idea if they will release a T version with NFC and B28 as they did with the 8T?
I'm not sure if they will sorry
i am still rocking my redmi note 7 for 2 years now its so strong and really fast. i dont know i was an apple and samsung user tried out redmi and never regret. i actuaully like my apple still but hate samsung now cause i find their phones overheat alot. m using redmi now and i never overheat and am a heavy gamer
There seem to be 3 configs for the rear/front cameras (MP): 48/16, 64/16, and 64/32, found in various appellations of Redmi Note 9 (S, Pro, Pro Max) and now Poco M2 Pro as well
Amazing video with clear explanation. Bro keeps the good work
Great review does it have ip rating or water repellant
PS: 2 things:
1- I'm starting to get requests for upgrade from people I got to buy a Redmi Note 4/5/6/7.
Full detailed review as always. Excellent work! 👍🏼
Chris, The locations and scenery looks great in the photos. Where were these photos taken?
great review! to the point, loved it.
Great review btw
very nice review .. how fast charger we can use?
Hello! On your opinion wich one is better between xiaomi mi9t and this one redmi note 9s speaking about performance. Thanks a lot!
Hi! My Redmi Note 9S is now Widevine L1 cert. I updated to MIUI Global 11.0.8 stable. Nice review btw!
