My dad passed away 2 weeks ago and because I was sober, I had a chance to say goodbye to him before he went and to hold his hand as he died. I was able to be there for my mom and my sisters. I had the wherewithal to write an obituary, give a eulogy and hug my extended family. I think my dad would be proud of me. I was listening to "Either Way" by Wilco yesterday and felt a rush of cleansing joy at the lyric, "Maybe the sun will shine today." I found myself singing it out loud for the last 24 hours. Thank you, Jeff, for writing such a wonderful song. I needed it.
