Dockworkers earn $100k to $200k or more per year! They're demanding a 77% pay increase over 6 years! Nobody in my family is getting a guaranteed 13% pay increase per year! Getting a fair wage is one thing but extortion is something else.

Saw an interview with an old woman last night that has lived in the hills west of Asheville, NC. all her life.
That entire area contains large deposits of Lithium & Quartz. Maybe somebody wants that land? Hmmmmm
Toyota is building a $5.9 Billion lithium battery facility in Greensboro, NC. - announced last September.

The only thing about the truck drivers they can't get together to agree.
People in this country have no idea how bad their life can be if truckers could go on strike.
Nobody would have or be able to get anything within a week.
Everything comes on a tractor trailer, they supply giant warehouses, grocery stores, gas stations. Lumber yards, paper mills who make toilet paper..
    Everything!
But you have company owned semi's and private owned semi's the drivers don't want to make they're life and wages better by striking together because they don't want to be without themselves.for everyone else that's a good thing..but that is slowly going to be forced to happen because of regulations on the drivers.

These doc workers make more than the average worker that's not on strike. The ones that will be hurt the worst from this strike aren't the rich, but the poor and the middle class. The thing that bugs me the most is this union boss turned down more than a fair raise which was at least 50%. He's demanding a 77% increase plus a promise that the companies don't automate. I would love to make what these union workers make which is well over 100k per year.

Where every company is messing up is they see less expenses and more profits and they think it will last. But when thousands lose their jobs and can't "buy" their products and services, then they will see the impact. Some won't care, some will lose everything since the peons can't support them as a business. Time will tell.

The plan is ubi. The bots do the work and we get a cut. Will it work out that way? probably not. We're talking utopia, where no one really has to work and we can just frolic in the sun all day. I dont see how greed allows that to happen. It's hard to see the forest through the trees, but if say Ford makes cars and nobody gets paid, then nobody buys cars and Ford goes broke. I think its inevitable that automation takes over, but the transition is not going to be easy for us.

I guess you will just have to pay double to get supplies trucked in from California. You really expect me to believe they're struggling at 39 dollars an hour before overtime and benefits package that the average American can only dream of having. They voted for this economy. Labor unions historiclly and overwhelmingly vote democrat. People should receive fair days wage for fair days work, but this just feels like extortion.

But just like air traffic controllers (remember that years ago?), I think there are certain unions that should not be allowed to strike, due to disruption and security threats to a nation. Between another possible hurricane threat and the dock workers strike Day 3, stores in South Florida are already starting to empty out.

If you think the super rich people are going to deal with people continuously changing their mind and stuff or they can make a machine to work for the cost of making it and servicing it rather than dealing with people something's wrong with you because that's not going to happen. If you think AI is going to take over while you're right because that's what's going on just look at the device you are reading this on it's all AI it can't even spell anymore but it's getting better and better and pretty soon it's going to have every aspect of human life where it wants it in Rich boys are going to do nothing but get richer by cutting costs that means cutting human beings out of the equation

Union soul, this will take at least 1 month to negotiate but it might take 2 months. The AI (automation) will be the hanging point. The 70% raise over 6 years is only 11% a year that's not the sticking point. The corp will fight like Hell to keep the Automation in Place because they already but million of dollars into that tool. They will be comprise on both sides but not before we see a supply shock that will last provably 3 months, so stock up on TP and Beer :-) This is going to be worse than the govs and crops thinks! You seem to know a little about a few things to sound like you know what your talking about to those that know less than you. You group unrelated things in order to plant ideas in views heads and hint that you have some privileged insight into matters you do not. Dock workers chose to strike now because their contract expired now. Both sides knew this was upcoming and there was time to come up with a solution but the owners refused to offer terms the workers found acceptable. It is both sides right to do so under the law. Not all dock workers make 100-200k as stated in the comments in fact few do. The owners/operators have seen over 400 billions in profit, they would not even feel the impact of the increase. Their last contract was signed in 2019 and the increase they are asking for is to be out over several years, not all at once. You are either pro union or you are not. You can not say you support the workers/union then ask the white house to force them to accept a bad deal as they see it. I am pro union. I support the workers.
