- I was scammed hook, line & sinker by a visa / debit card company. Am 8 minute phone call which scammed me for £80. Be careful of these scam calls. They got me hook line and sinker. Please be aware. Don't be scammed like me, please be vigilant.

I trust no one who calls me from any type of utility, credit card or cable company. If I didn't initiate the call, then I assume they are scammers. Thank you for the reminder!

I hope you can speak to your credit card people and maybe have an insurance to claim this back. Banks & credit card companies will never call you. If they do they will ask for your security questions. Always say you are hanging up and call them back. Be careful of text too Darren…. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Be vigilant folks!

Sorry to hear this Darren. I had someone scam my card once and I got a call from my bank, but I called them back to make sure it was legit rather than just take the call that they made
Good advice. Never respond to incoming bank calls. Always hang up and call your bank back on a legit number that you trust.

Happened to me a week before Christmas 😢 they called me , pretended to be from my bank , just like you😮 he went through the motions and told me about the alleged fraudulent activity on my account , and said my card must be cancelled! I had a call the following day from my actual bank asking if I had transferred £3500 to another bank account , I said no and they started the process of retrieving the money , I got scammed , which I did get back . Like you Darren I felt like a total idiot 😢

Keep an eye out for them QR codes folks that are on the front of parking pay machines as the little shites are placing their own one on top to skim your well earned bangers.
So sorry this happened Darren. Sadly there are people in this world who actually do this and can do so seemingly without getting caught. Hope you reported it to the card company.

Thanks for highlighting this issue, we can all be caught out. If any one rings you out of the blue and claims to be a financial body do not interact, hang up and use a different phone to call the number on the back of the card.
Right, that what my stepdad does, a genuine call from the bank once, he wouldn't talk to them, until he called them back. Anyone can spoof a number.

Hi Darren, there’s so many people being scammed now because these people are so sophisticated,I’m so sorry to hear you were scammed Darren, if I answer my phone and someone I don’t know is on I just hang up , I’ve had so many calls where the person says is that mr david I couldn’t possibly take them seriously

Disgusting folk. I always try to remember if they called me then it’s likely a scam. However, they play on the fact that they will catch people off the radar as it’s hard to be alert all the time. Sorry you’ve been so unfortunate this time - I’m sure the banks/finance companies could put a better system of security in place but they just don’t want to spend the money

Oh no...yeah, I hang up if it's someone I don't know...if it's the bank or my credit card, I'm even more wary. I know it was by impulse that you did what he said, because you believed it was someone from the company you have your card with, BUT, never ever do what they say, when it comes to "accept" or "decline"...you have to always assume the worst these days & suspect a scammer, especially if they say, "hit the accept". I'm so sorry this happened to you DJ...the last thing you needed was another "hit", from life. Please stay safe & remember about those sails!!♥

Thanks for the heads up. When I've had similar calls to that, I say to them
"I'll contact the Company direct, bye"
then hang up and phone the company on a different phone. Hopefully you'll get reimbursed.

once back off your jollies, move any remaining funds from revolut back to your bank.
Extra careful from here Darren, once they've got you once they often have follow ups in the pipeline. Nasty stuff, £80 is a blow but better to learn from that than losing thousands!

So sorry you got scammed. I am aware of so many scam but I've never heard of this one before. Cancel that card now mate, they have your details and somehow also your phone number. These people are scum. Thanks for the warning.
Hi Darren so sorry for you these people are unbelievable 🙈 I had a very similar experience 3 years ago through Barclays n totally cleared out my account I was devastated I got scammed like that never got my money back . Everyone please be careful I have a rule now if I don’t know the number I don’t answer if it’s important they’ll leave a message

Exactly the same thing happened to me Darren … as soon as I realised I locked all my cards and phoned my bank but as you said they are so clever at what they do !! They cleared my bank account whilst I was on the phone to my bank reporting it !!! It’s a horrible thing to happen to anyone !!!!

Block anyone who rings you about fraud or says they are calling about your bank details etc. Keep it that simple. Do not respond. Sorry to hear it happened to you. You have done a positive thing in making everyone aware. I heard on radio 4 recently of a highly educated man and his friend who did this for a living and admitted that they had no sense of consciousness at all. This particular man ended up in prison and then admitted when he had time to think,he realised how cruel and selfish he had been. Now he helps people who have been victims of fraud.
I just ignore all unsolicited calls and even my door. I think I’m not expecting you go away or F off lol.

Your bank will rarely if ever call you and if someone claims to be from them hang up the phone and ring the regular contact number to validate things.

Just shows, you don't need to be vulnerable, elderly, etc to be scammed, you just have to be busy, tired, etc.. can literally happen to anyone. Be careful, if on doubt hang up. ❤❤

Forewarned is forearmed scumbags. I had an investment company trying to steal from me but luckily my bank refused to forward the payment. As you said these scammers are clever. Rule of thumb for me now is don't engage in any conversation and lock their number.

Oops! It's easy to do. I never answer those calls. I just had my visa cloned...15 charges to Uber, Uber Eats, Dominos, Womens clothing, etc. luckily I blocked the the card and rang them direct and have all the money back with a fraud case pending and a new card already... *I'd block the card, recheck your statement, get them to open a fraud case and get a new card*
Thanks for the re-enforcement of the warning Darren. We just need to ensure however convincing that if they contact us we do not give them voluntarily any security information that they should know or click on anything they send through. They completely play on the fact that they are the legitimate fraud department preventing you from being scammed and it is incredibly sophisticated. As there is information being traded by people probably existing or former employees in these companies in your case Revolut confirming you have one of their cards.
Sorry Darron to her you’ve been scammed I see this all the time on UA-cam. If we get call from someone like yours I try to wind them up then put the phone down. I know it’s a scam 💯

I've been scammed before Darren over 10 years ago same sort of thing 2.5 k. Glad it wasn't 4k to you buddy. Got 1.5k back through the bank my stupid fault lesson learnt never again.

Terrible that DJ , its got me thinking now if i ever get any calls about any of my bank cards transactions supposedly from the bank i think i will hang up the phone and contact the bank in question personally, what do you reckon? So many dam scams going on these days with technology , cheers thanks for the heads up.

DJ. I always try and look at the positive from these sort of things. OK its cost you £78 but you will not be caught again! It cost me £2600 on my scam so I would swop with you anytime. Good work with the new channel.

Back to basics! Always set up security. If a bank rings back thank them for the call but say you'll ring them back on the number you have. Always have 2 step verification on for everything you can! I pay for ANYTHING online using a card I get a text with a code I have to give the bank for the transaction to get the item. PITA I know....but it's the safest way. No idea what this revolute thing is. Now you know don't get scammed again!

Sorry you got scammed, there are scam calls going around at the moment, claiming to be British gas,and making an upgrade to your smart meter, ignore British gas, never calls you.

Good advice DJ. If anyone thinks they'll never be scammed.......I'm a former copper, who worked dealing with fraud cases. I got scammed via PayPal. My mates had a field day when they heard that! Luckily it wasn't a massive amount of money and my bank refunded the money immediately. These people are very cunning. Be very wary of anyone that phones you. If there's dodgy activity concerning your finances, you'll be the one contacting the bank etc, not the other way round.

No one will ever call you from your bank. If you or anyone makes a suspect transaction on your bank account they will cancel the transaction & leave it up to you to pursue it. This is a golden rule, but I understand scams are getting more sophisticated. Thanks for highlighting the issue.

Sometimes that's just a feeler , if you don't block or cancel the card they could take a bigger chunk next time.
Sorry to hear you got scammed mate but so did my brotherin law a few weeks ago through a call from what he thought was his bank.. luckily it wasn't his main bank account but he still lost £300 and he's pretty clued up like you..but my advice to anyone don't ever do any online banking and don't even have a contactless card because if you lost your contactless card and you don't realise for a few days or maybe a week or so someone could drain your bank account out
£79 for a take away … it must have been ‘ Off The Charts ‘ for that money … BOOM BOOM !!!
