Yes, using it as a patchbay. Drum mics into the SI 24, then Rbus to the 2480. They are automatically routed to tracks 17 through 24. However you need the specific Roland Rbus cable or modify one to the correct pin out.
@@BigCrumb52 thinking about getting Sl 24. I have a extra r bus cable. Always wonder if it work well with vs2480..thanks I plan on using it the same way u are
@@biggrime Sweet man!, that could get interesting…….. two 2480s and two SI 24s….synced…..🤔 I bought my machine in 2004, And used it on and off while raising a family. More so now that the kids are getting bigger. I have since acquired three more 2480s and one more SI 24.
Hello there.... I have encountered a problem on my 2480..... "I have a lot of work from down through the years on all the drive partitions" And today I replaced a new DVD insert burner replacing the original CD burner, which I just received from eBay purchase... anyway, after loading it in and turning on I was directed to a system test page.... I don't really know what I done.... but when turning of and back on ..... my message appearing now is " Not found any formatted Drives" can you help.... Thanks in advance. Johnny
I’ve never encountered this problem, however I would start by checking the battery in the effects board bay. If that doesn’t help you can start the machine in test mode by holding down the page and F1 button when turning it on. From there you should be able to run further diagnostics. There’s also a page called vsplanet.com where you can find tons more information on these machines. Hope this helps.
@@FlashFaces when I purchased my 2480, I like the fact that it was a standalone unit… so I never connected it to a computer. So unfortunately, I can’t help you there. There’s a group on Facebook (Roland VS-2480), i’ve seen discussions on there about your issue. Another place I would check is vsplanet.com. Hope this helps.

@@larrytan73 this machine was way ahead of its time. Even after 20 years, it still provides the essentials for making a quality recording.
