Being someone that hasn’t been to afford conventional guitar lessons. Your body of work and spirit have aided me tremendously. I want to thank you for the help.

Lessons aren't worth the $$$, unless you have a teacher like this! I've played guitar for nearly 50 years... mostly by ear. I've had a lot of fun, but I retired a year ago and decided to get serious. I took 1 month of lessons, but the teacher insisted I start like a beginner and learn to read music, which I had no interest in!!! I learned one thing... how to find the relative minor chord if I know the major chord and vice-versa! What a waste of my time and money!
Don't get me wrong, the more you understand, the better you can comprehend guitar and music in general.
With all the UA-cam lessons, there's simply NO REASON to pay for lessons!
      Sorry for my thesis... Cheers~

Great lesson, as always. I’ve seen your “Comfortably Numb” solo lessons from “Pompeii” and “PULSE”, and they are great (I’m still working on that very fast blues lick he plays for what seems forever, at least to get it to sound as clean at the speed Gilmour plays it). If you’re open to requests, here’s one- the “Money” solo live, from just about any live recording (“Wembley”, “DSOT”, “PULSE”, “Pompeii”, etc…). Mostly for the third solo. The second solo seems always sort of improvised, and is at various lengths; but that third solo is what interests me, because he’s playing on a standard 21 fret Strat, and it’s close to impossible to get those high notes and bends to pitch; so he plays lower on the neck, with this really cool walk up. I sort of can hack it, but it would be awesome to see someone cover it in a lesson (I can’t find anyone who’s done a real video tutorial of that live version of the solo). Again, great work as always!

You are nothing short of extremely fresh air that's been missing in the community since I joined. When I found your channel I thought Christ , this dude is heading up. Please as long as you are able, Do not stop!!! I know it can't always be Gilmour haha But you have a gift of variety as well. I love it all. Thanks brother !!!!! I will treasure these with hat off ..

Thanks for adding the tone analysis! I really dig seeing how other guitarists try to recreate Gilmour's sound. If you're looking for a content suggestion, I'd love to see your Bias FX tone for Time.

Good thing you were able to hit that high C without having to use the other guitar with the extra two frets. I remember watching a video of Gilmour talking about using a different guitar for this particular solo.

Yeah, on the album he’s using his custom 24 fret Bill Lewis guitar. On the live recordings, like “PULSE” and others, he has to play the lower on the scale, and there’s this pretty cool walk up he does (kind of reminds me of some of the fast solos from “Dogs”). I would love to see a lesson on one of those live versions.

      I’m still “Comfortably Numb”
I am digging in hard to overcome my timing and spacial awareness challenges.
Going for the “Money” 7/4 with B minor soloing, got the bass line figured out last night on guitar 🎸
      Keep breathing CC.

Perfect timing. Been working on this one. Struggling a bit on the 22nd fret on third solo (must be the guitar LOL). I play some of parts you're playing on the A & D strings on the D, G, B to get a little more room. I watched a video of Gilmour Live at Pompeii and he plays something different... less of the 22nd fret stuff. Will be studying your great work here for sure.

Definitely picked up some tweaks and adjustments from KDA to improve what I was playing (much of which was by ear), especially getting the bends right.

I think I'm in heaven with this David Gilmour month thanks for another great lesson and was also wondering if you could do a lesson for one of Gilmours live 2nd solos for money for those of us without 22 frets (I would try to do it by ear but he usually does this quick run up the board that I cant figure out)

Kelly, that Friedman JJ100 amp is part of some expansion to BIAS FX2?

    • @KellyDeanAllenGuitar
      @KellyDeanAllenGuitar  2 роки тому +1

I have no idea. I downloaded a Gilmour tone from the tonecloud and that was the amp that was with it. I modified the tone to suit my liking, and the solo, but stuck with that particular amp. I have bias Elite, maybe it's actually there, but I haven't looked.

@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar Indeed, it's not part of the PG amps and cabs list at their help center, I also have the elite. Ok, I'll see if I can find that preset. Thanks!
      Found it ;-)

@@peterwright5249 Enter ToneCloud clicking on the orange square button at the upper left corner, proceed to the "Pedalboard" option on the horizontal menu, then search for Gilmour. Scroll the hits looking at the pictures, you should find the amp on a couple of presets mentioning 2016, I went for the "live best" one. Hope it helps.

Pfft yeah right I can’t play on a 21 fret guitar… I’ll just use an absurd amount of bending :)
