Many of the original spectrum glass sheets are not a very forgiving glass. Speaking from experience..have been using this glass since the late 80s. The colors are beautiful but I was never crazy about the ease of cutting this glass. I love all of your designs. You should really consider putting together a pattern book. Your color combinations and artistry are just perfection.

Spectrum's weird, sometimes I find it breaks so well, and sometimes it's like "omg have I forgotten how to cut glass?!" 😅 Maybe one day I will make a pattern book - I've slowly been making certain patterns available for sale, but it's hard for me to want to share some of my bigger patterns - probably because I'm still actively making those pieces.
Great picture to show cutting! Great advice on the tip breaking!!! It's awesome how you show 'mistakes'. Favorite glass that is irreplaceable, kind of hurts the flow and beauty lost hurts the heart, but you show that nothing in creating can be lost. Sometimes mistakes come out better! "There are no mistakes in art, only discoveries". You proved that, it's a beautiful piece!

What kind of pliers are you using to pull away the glass? I'm still very new, and angle down to break it away (grab it with grozing pliers, but not nibbling it). Just wondering what the difference is, or whether it's just preference. Your work is so beautiful!
Hi! I'm using two sets of grozing pliers. Sorry if I'm not fully understanding the question, but if you use the grozing pliers with the flat side up, you can pull the score apart to break the glass. Curved side up allows you to nibble away at the glass

Hi! So I'm not very consistent with the "method" I use to rinse off the patina. Sometimes I just rinse it in water, sometimes I use Kwik clean, and occasionally (not often though) I just wipe off the excess with paper towel. I believe I used Kwik clean with this panel.

So since the two jump rings were placed on seams, hobby came would have been fine (you don't need the extra strength/rigidity of zinc came); however, I personally like the look of 1/8" zinc for my corner panels - it looks polished to me. Also because zinc is rigid, it gives nice perfectly straight lines - if your edges aren't perfectly straight, it's really easy for your hobby came to look a little wavy. =)

What solder do you use it flows so beautifully?
I always use 60/40, and I believe the brand I used in this video is Amerway. Sometimes I use Canfield, but I honestly don't notice a difference.

I use super blue on my zinc!
How comes you didn't use wire wool for the patina in this design? Gorgeous piece!
I used steel wool before the patina at 9:10

Samantha what's the name of that mitre box you use to easily cut zinc
@@jccanada9931 I just used wire cutters here for the 1/8" zinc, but I've since gotten a mini bench top saw from harbor freight
