Civil service appears to be a closed shop. This needs to change.
Plenty of jobs going at the civil service if you are bright enough
If you want a job as a civil servant, wait for the redundancies then when they employ you, they can take the redundant ones back at higher salaries. The numbers only grow like knotweed, they never reduce.
Not a single Garnet Wolseley or Jackie Fisher to be seen, no reformers.
The Whitehall swamp needs to be drained.
At the top yes, always used to be Oxbridge classics degrees. God help us if this still the case
Civil Servants should not have any political bias ,no matter their own beliefs. Their job is to carry out the instructions of the government through the relevant minister. Had the PM any backbone he would have stood four square behind his minister. The civil service is too top heavy, people get laid off and then get re employed on more money. Let's have a clean out starting at the top.
How is reporting bullying a political bias?
They do implement government policies, that’s why the country is fecked these last 13 years. Their political opinions have nowt to do with ministers thinking they can bully someone.
@@martynblackburn9632 yea, you haven't read the report then.
It's not political bias to be told to do your job. It's too easy for whinging wokeys to complain rather than do the work they are paid to do. The Civil Service is rife with whingers.
The phrase use to be, having their slippers too far under the table.
That was also why politcians were suggested to have fixed term and limited term office.
Spotlight now on the civil service!! Is this the same civil servive that before covid Dominic Cummings wanted to reform, but Boris made the mistake of stopping him, the same civil service who took some pictures of the PM, dressed in a suit at a table in the garden of Number 10, then held onto those pictures for almost 2 years, before releasing them?? The same civil service who on Friday nights throughout covid enjoyed a bottle or two of wine??? And just how long had those Friday night vino gettogether's been happening?? I'm sure the Police on Downing street gates would be able to say!! And I bet it was happening long before Boris was PM??The same civil service who are apparently finding reasons to hold up brexit??? Why Raab may well have been frustrated over and did his hard stare---oh what a bully??? The same civil servants now reprted in the MSM as targeting Suella's migrant plan???? AREN'T THE CIVIL SERVICE IN DOWNING STREET THERE TO DO THE GOVERNMENT'S BIDDING, AND NOT A POLITICAL AGENDA AGAINST THEIR OWN COUNTRY???
I think you’re confusing the civil service with SPADS - though both were at Covid breaches, I believe it was the SPADS that did the worst and were also behind a lot of the leaks, including the photos (it all came out because of a SPAD leak of the video of that press secretary). All that leaking was Tory political manoeuvring.
Also Cummings is a bit dim.
Bang on.
@@johnkitching2248 Lol you aren’t even British
Raab should still be in his Job, honestly
What is going on with this Country!!!
In any other job managers who bully would likely get disciplined by the CEOs. Raab didn't get disciplined even though two accounts of bullying were held against him. He left on his own accord after declaring that he would step down if the bullying allegations were proved true.
Tories. Next question.
Strange people keep voting Tory. The Tories do what they do. Transfer power and wealth to bankers and financiers. Decimate public services (but get their media to blame immigrants) and then the strange people that voted for them ask a stupid question like “what’s going wrong in this country”
Hope that’s cleared it up for you.
You’re welcome
@@soviet700 Labour also transfered power and wealth to bankers. This was done under Gordon Brown.
@@martynblackburn9632 yep. New Labour. They continued the neoliberal agenda the state wanted. You remember. Tory Blair removing Clause IV from the Labour constitution. Setting up PFI’s. Introducing tuition fees. You know. Those left wing policies?!! Haha and yes. Tory Blair announced government would no longer set interest rates but the Bank of England would. I suppose the greatest accolade Tory Blair got,was when Thatcher said he was her greatest achievement.
When Thatcher and Reagan started the disastrous agenda for neoliberalism in their respective countries, they used a right wing American economist as financial advisor. James Buchanan. Never guess who also had Buchanan as a special advisor? You got it. Tory Blair.
So what’s your point exactly? That the state made sure New Labour had a centre right neoliberal at the helm before Rupert Murdoch and his press convinced you to vote in New Labour?
You know all this right? You’re not an utter mug are you?
And the state have yet again placed a centre right neoliberal in charge at Labour. Never guess who the press will have you voting for?
You do know you’ve had a right wing neoliberal political and economic agenda since 1979? Surely you know that?
Oh. You think there’s real choice and your vote counts??? Hahahaha how sweet
Why? The Civil service should be politically neutral.
It is just another example of how the population of this country are not consulted or considered on any issues facing the People of this country not least on illegal immigration
Stop confusing the Brexit vote with anti immigration. Remember. You didn’t vote leave because of immigration. You voted for sovereignty (haha). Just because you spend your life in right wing/far right echo chambers, doesn’t mean the population share your racist views
💯
@@soviet700”Sorry Comrade, your Racist Card(TM) has been maxed out and is no longer accepted by anybody with any attention span”...
The original poster is saying that our “betters” don’t give two short smegs about the needs and concerns of ordinary working voters and taxpayers. And immigration > tax receipts being spent on illegal aliens instead of our own people who needed help - is a legitimate grievance.
Civil servant’s political opinions (traditionally Tory by the way) don’t cause a politician to choose to bully them. Take some responsibility for your actions rather than whining every time there are consequences for your actions.
Very true. I’ve done a lot of work at Winchester College in the past. I’m a carpenter. But I was talking to a teacher there and he said Winchester College was second to Eton. Top politicians go to Eton. Top civil servants go to Winchester. I then asked him about the fees. £200,000 a year! I’m kind of guessing these kids ain’t going to come from labour voting families! Haha
Civil servants needs to be drastically reduced in size and we need to get rid of all anti English rhetoric.
It’s already been reduced to the point it can barely function.
They are open! Openly anti conservative!
Still going on about this, he was found to be a 'bully' and resigned. End of.....
In the minds of bigots, Raab did nothing wrong.
@@martynblackburn9632 so you didn’t read the report?! 😅
@@TG-ts3xn no need to read the report. It’s public schoolboy entitled Tory behaviour. These MP’s actually believe they have the right to rule over you. And you being a bootlicker, you feed their fantasy
Tony Benn complained in the 70s of the civil service blocking the wishes of ministers.
Whataboutery. Just because CSs are politicised does not mean they should not report bullying when it happens.
@@martynblackburn9632 Telling someone to do the job they are paid to do and properly is not bullying.
@@davidhoward8270but shouting at them and throwing things around in a tantrum over nothing is.
@@johnkitching2248 We have all suffered that when not doing our jobs, you get on with it.
@@johnkitching2248 like the civil servants involved I probably did but I'm not a cry baby.
If the Tories hadn't been so culturally negligent we wouldn't be here. The fault is entirely their own. They're starting to face the consequences of their own ignorance and inaction that many ordinary folk have had to deal with for a long time now.
Such as?
Sadly not just inaction, look at Mordaunt, Gillian Kegan, Baker etc. they encourage / enable it
The public should be told so we can give our points of view
Not even anywhere near far enough. The whole Civil Service is clearly in need of *reform* at Whitehall level given the appalling behaviour seen over the last fifteen years and more.
It needs to be made entirely clear what the function of the service is, and the standards required, and what constitutes obstruction. Those who refuse to adhere to the job spec should be given a clear choice; do it or walk away. And I’d suggest appointing someone like Frank Field - maybe the last honest man we saw in Westminster - to spearhead it.
Elite class ministers against elite class senior civil servants what could possibly go wrong.
Raab said if he was found guilty of any wrong doing he would resign - not the best plan but showed his arrogance - he should have stopped whining in about 6 months if we are lucky
😂 what a ridiculous notion
we should have civil servants and a Govt that forks for this country and only this country and not for illegal migrants and the woke ideologies
This is bullying , simple. Raab just needs to accept the consequences of his own actions. Read the independent report. It’s not about pretending the rules don’t apply to you or you somehow deserve to not be held accountable. Recall petition now.
society today, in general, is less resilient than 60 or 70 years ago
why? becos folks today are more spoilt and have it better than folks 60 or 70 yrs ago
back then, life was way much harder, and folks simply just sucked it up and got on with life
folk then were much harder and sturdier than folks today
Back then people were more polite to begin with and if someone carried on like that they’d be invited to step outside to sort it out.
Younger generations are weaker because they are farther away from the original source. This downward cycle can be reversed by breaking generational curses like sexual immorality which seems to be getting worse.
@@akreation they (the current generation) are weaker bcos they have not suffered so much as per the earlier generations who had to toil more.
the earlier generations did not have well off daddies and mummies to molly coddle them; unlike those born from the baby boomer generation or later.
Any links to freemasonry or any other unbritish organisations should be public knowledge /an oath to our country for any public job
Becomes complex ? Surely he means asinine.
Seems it’s easier for civil servants to get rid of ministers than for ministers to get rid of civil servants.
Good to see that GB News is jumping on the 'its all the civil services fault' bandwagon - brexit voters blaming the civil service for the brexit failure is just leaver desperation
Raab can't seem to take responsibility for his actions. He's got a track record of failure at every department. Tories need to be start having a conversation about their poor attitude, as well as their incompetence.
They’ll just get GB News,TalkRadio,The Sun,The Daily Mail,The Times,The Express,The Telegraph,The Spectator and the 1000’s upon 1000’s of weird Tory outriders with channels on UA-cam,to smokescreen with phoney culture wars and racist anti immigration propaganda. It’s been working a treat for 40 years or more
So did Gormless Brown ever have to answer for his tantrums then? Thought not.
If they will not do as told, SACK THEM.
Civil servants seem to be a big problem n the UK.
They need to do their damn jobs.
Since the lockdowns, the police force are no longer hiring English officers.
Could it be because a foreign national is less likely to against the will of government? Could it be because the police in many areas refused to enforce a very insidious destruction of liberty and nearly sparked a civil war?
Well Jeremy Corbyn did warn you. But you and the entire state controlled media,99% Tory right wing establishment media, said he was a threat to national security. But he warned you that this Tory “anti terror” legislation could be used to remove everyone’s civil liberties. And NOW you have mental raving fascist Tories and their supporters screaming to leave the ECHR!!! Then we WILL be in a lot of trouble. All of us
Why has GB news given up on Brexit. We all know it has been a disaster under Tories, and we need Reform asap. the channel seems to only be bothered by gender issues and other irrelevant issues. I will stop watching unless you start really debating what we do about brexit
Hmm. You won. Dry those tears. You were told the outcome. You dribbled “project fear”. Turns out,you weee told the truth.
You knew Johnson’s “oven ready deal” was Mays deal but with NI thrown under the bus. You voted for that. Remember? Brexit means Brexit.
Reform? Hahaha the reincarnation of far right Tory pressure group,UKIP.
I watched their “conference”??? Hahaha the audience were all close to death. I could nearly smell the piss through my handheld.
Brexit is done.
