- Traffic Jam Assist is a function of Adaptive Cruise Assist (ACA) which uses adaptive cruise control and lane guidance function. This system is available in: Audi A6 (C8), Audi A7 (4G9), Audi A8 (D5) and Audi Q8. Here you have the real-life test of this system.

Thanks. That's a really well made video and very helpful indeed. How often does the warning for "taking back control" come up? Also, can you avoid the warning pop-up by keeping one hand on the wheel at all times?
I was wondering the same thing. How much input is required to reset the warning and how much input is required to keep it off
I would say every 20 seconds.
Just touching the wheel is not enough, you need to actively give an imput to the car for it to realize you're still there. I usually just shake the wheel within its numb section and the warning goes off.
Do you need to touch the gas pedal or press on something after the car stopped in the traffic to resume moving?
After a few second stop yes. I used resume button in most situations like that.
Hi, the virtual cockpit on my 2020 A6 doesn't look like the one you drive in this video.
When I activate Lane Guidance while ACC is activated. Instead of two triangles at sides, I have a little green steering wheel icon on the car image.
It's just like your other video demonstrating Q3 Adaptive Cruise Assist.
But my question is, I can't get the Traffic Jam Assist kicked in when the speed is lower than 60 km/hr.
The little steering wheel icon and the lanes on the virtual cockpit will just grey out. (sometimes rapidly flashes back to green every 5~10 seconds then grey out again)
Wondering if there's any settings that I need to do to activate the Traffic Jam Assist on my A6?
So, it looks like your A6 does not have an urban assist option. At least in Poland there is two systems: support on urban assist and support on sub-urban roads, and the second is cheaper. Please try to change the lane assist with the button on the turning indicator lever. If triangles will not appear it means your car does not have all features.

how do you accelerate after the car completly stops? you pull the acc lever to the back?
As you can see on the movie (for example 2:53) I use acc lever :)
I have a Q8. Do I have to pull the cruise control lever each time it stops in traffic?
Yes, you have to if the stop took more than ~5-7 seconds

The system in the Mercedes-Benz A-class seems to be the best one yet. The car is able to drive autonomously for a longer period of time than in this Audi or the BMW.
The only reason it stops is because they have to make sure that you are still paying attention. The system can do way more than it programed to do.
So functionally what's the difference between this system and the one they have in the A4/A5 ? Is it the same?
In my opinion it is quite similar with some improvements in new A6/A7 cars

this is for your safety, even telsa is going to warn you take over the steering every 15 secs just like audi, I also think this is admited by the law.
When I drove the new A7 it adapted to the speed limits automatically, which sometimes was fine but also annoying. Is it possible to turn it off? I couldn't find it.
Yes, it is possible. It's enough to turn the "predictive control" off: Driver assist settings -> Adaptive Cruise Assist -> Predictive control. There you have 3 options: Off, On, with Tolerance for "Use speed limit" and 4 settings for "Adaption to route ahead". Nie pamiętam jak te opcje nazywają się po polsku, ale myślę, że sobie poradzisz :)

The Audi's adaptive cruise control recognize and slow down when curves, crossings and roundabouts approach? Is the system you tested in this video the same as the Q5?

4. It is difficult question. In some situations Audi is the best, in others BMW. IMO it is quite similar level.
5. No. It detects roundabouts to lower the speed and crossroad assist works but the driver has to drive.

Let me reply to your questions (as of this writing; Audi newer models or updates may change these answers):
1. Can a6 change lines automatically like tesla or mercedes? NO. Audi is not ready for it yet.
2. Can it automatically enter and exit highways? No. Audi is not ready for it yet. I dont Mercedez or BMW can do it either as of this writing.
3. Can it drive it self without lanes only tracking cars in front? For a while when it is in Traffic Jam Assist mode. TJA disengages itself when the speed is reached about 35miles/hr.
4. Who has best self driving system mercedes, tesla, bmw, audi, lexus? I guess TESLA is the winner on it but you can buy only Model 3 with an Audi A6 price.
5. Can it go around roundabouts? No.
I think this feature makes driving more stressful than actually driving the car yourself. Because now you have to monitor what the car is doing and every time it starts beeping you have to assist the assisted driving system .
It is enough to see how I change the battery in one of the used GoPro during driving which you can see in this movie. Yeah... "more stressful"...
its not a hands free system. you should keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times. this was a test, that's why he put his hands off the steering wheel.
I use this feature in stop-and-go traffic every day in my community to work, and I will tell you for stop and go traffic, this feature is well worth it. It completely reduces the fatigue and monotony that comes from sitting in traffic after a long day of work. During normal highway driving without traffic, the feature is also really nice when you want to “cruise” long distances.
@@ONI1013. And you can easily make a soft hook you can hook with some weights on the steering wheel to make it think you are constantly holding the steering wheel. If you do that you can actually see how well the system drives the car.
TehHitmarker - it drives well with some occasional input on steering wheel, but it certainly wouldn’t be safe enough to steer completely on own. Especially around sharper turns like on and off ramps. I know bc I have tested it. It’s not like the Teslas that demo self autonomous driving and lane changes.

There has to be a way to trick it to think you are keeping your hands on the wheel. It seems it needs confirmation to take over way too often (even with the sped up footage). I'd assume the water bottle trick is not smart enough for it.

The solution is keeping your hands on the shell at all times. These are LVL2 systems (like Tesla) and need supervision at all times.
Have you compared this with Volvos pilot assist?
Which one have the best auto pilot system between the A class W177 distronic plus, and the Golf 7 2017 drive assist premium ?
I think the Golf has the traffic jam assist and the Mercedes doesn't

@@alexalucard1611 I think that it is on similar level. New BMWs (X5, 3 and 8) have better system in my opinion. I'm going to publish movie about that :)
Nice video. However, I don't think the TJA (Traffic Jam Assist) was working correctly on your video. I am not sure but at least the Audi North America versions, show a TJA Sign in the virtual cockpit when the vehicle detects a TJA situation. The TJA logo basically shows a few cars overlapping to each other. It enters and leaves the TJA situation depending on the speed and traffic congestion.
Are you sure that you saw it in A6/A7 2018?

@@techbullet1020 Q7 has different driver assistant systems. This car has TJA which you asked before. In new A6, A7, Q8 you have newer system
@@techbullet1020 funny, I have a 2019 A7 and it's in the shop right now so Audi loaned me a 2021 A4 which has the overlapping cars icon for TJA, which my 2019 A7 doesn't have. Supposedly it's supposed to have and has all the bells and whistles of ACC and radars and such but that icon for TJA never appeared in my car. I doubt I have it.

Petro-7 nie wymagaja ale maja okreslony zakres dzialania np od 30km/h
Dokładnie tak jak kolega napisał: asystent jazdy w korku bez skrzyni automatycznej nie miałby żadnego sensu
Czyli jednak niektóre wymagają? Szkoda, myślałem że taki asystent umie też mechanicznie zmieniać biegi i kręcić gałką od ich zmiany. Szkoda, bo to oznacza że moi rodzice nigdy nie doświadczą nowych technologii w samochodzie bo zarzekają się tylko o manual :P

Lol but it's a boring Tesla. Some people don't want that crap. Does the Tesla have a bang and olufson audio system? Nope. Multicolor LED interior? Message seats? Heads up display? Nope. Tesla lacks so many features for the price it's laughable. It doesn't even have dynamic suspension to stiffen / soften the ride. It's junk
