For the people who are concerned the trailer gives away the whole movie. It doesn't. Saw an early screening of it tonight. Trailer doesn't give away the movie at all.

Really good actually. There really are not many movies i will sit and watch through all of the credits, but that was mainly due to the Synthwave soundtrack. It turns out that the caricatures and plot are a work of fiction, but all of these things seemed like they could have actually happened. I don't know these actors but they were all very good, Elizabeth Banks was brilliant. Definitely one of the better movies from this year.
Looks mildly fun, but the (seemingly) hard R rating lifts up my interest a notch.

I saw a pre-release mystery preview of the film. The movie, script and acting were all horrible. It was one long “Karen” movie that was predictable and unremarkable. I want my $7 back.

Elizabeth Banks is so underrated. She is actually a fantastic actress with so much range. Many actors/actresses can’t go from comedy to thriller/horror and she can go back and forth with ease.

I remember seeing the flyer posted outside my apartment (warning that large trucks would be taking up street parking) for Skincare: the movie - I saw part of it being filmed but I didn't know it was Elizabeth Banks hahaha

Elizabeth Banks is underrated. She really is a brilliant actress and one of the most beautiful ladies in the business.
She directed Charlie's Angels - remember that feminist flop? Before the movie's release she stated that her movie isn't made for men, but for women so men said "ok, we have Rambo". Her movie tanked and the first thing she did was to blame men for its failure. By the way not even women wanted to see that crap.
She's not underrated nor brilliant, she's just mediocre.

First that song is fine until the singing starts, kinda of the 80s movie "Looker" music, I hope it is good. Now the thing that should be stopped is the "over rated" or "under rated" sounds like people getting mad that their favorites are not getting recognition, everyone is rated exactly how they are and that's a fact.

i was so disappointed with this movie they have taken a good storyline and turned it into a pathetic movie they did not do justice to Dawn DaLuise true story. Elizabeth Banks didn't even know this movie was actually inspired by a true events shame on her

Interesting movie, I noticed that in the beginning of the show she had two chains one a cross and the other a one eye, after the attack she stopped using the cross and used just the eye... Would like to know what the writer was trying to say there.

Can’t lie… the trailer makes the movie seem way better than it actually is. Thankfully it also doesn’t give away nearly as much as you’d think. But there were no real surprises in the film itself imo.

I thought it was based on the Dawn DaLouise’s story. When she hired a hitman to take care of the competitor whom she thought was spreading lewd personal ads on Craigslist etc, but it is not

meaning its a true story, based on a story where the main part of the story involves a fictional story, i.e the hacked email. Come on guys its 2024 we should be smarter than this. And to answer your question original poster about what story its based on, well the answer is: who cares, it's a story that doesnt matter. I thought this was gonna be about how skin care is a scam. The day i stopped using facial cleansers and benzoxide pimple ointments and simply just rinsed with water was the day my acne finally stopped popping up (no pun intended)

The true events it is based on, however loosely, occurred in 2014 or so. So I assume the movie will be based around that same time.
