We did, we had him (JFK) and he didn’t play ball with them and do whatever they wanted him to do so they killed/assassinated him! Just like they’re fvcking with Trump now, the people that are really calling the shots (the incredibly wealthy elite) do not want a president that is going to help Americans prosper or empower Americans. I remember learning about JFK and all he had accomplished in his life and then seeing the Zapruder footage of the assassination and a bunch of other videos from that day too and thinking “WOW WTF!! How could they do that to him, and to Jackie as well!!” And will never forget hearing family members that were alive back then say that “the day JFK was assassinated, was the day America died!” That our country has only slowly gone to hell in a hand basket since then, driving us closer and closer to chaos and communism. This may sound morbid but I’m glad those relatives passed away before we got to the point we have in the past 10+ish years cause I have no doubt they’d be losing their minds!

But he didn't and it's no secret. A great book I highly recommend is Richard Goodwin's Remembering America: A Voice from the Sixties. He joined Kennedy either before, or just as, his presidential campaign began, and served in the White House as well. He then joined Johnson's administration writing speeches for time before leaving. Also, Ted Sorensen as mentioned above, wrote many of Kennedy's speeches. Make no mistake though, Kennedy edited these speeches thoroughly, meaning he struck out certain words and phrases and placed his own, so he had a hand in writing, and certainly approving, the final speech.

Outstanding! I saw this speech live from the Boston area, when I was 7 years old! I remember clearly this speech, especially the part, “Ask not..what the country can do.. ask what you can do for your country!” I have 2 great attachments to this speech! Today, due to the events of 1968, I am a staunch Republican! Since 1972, I have NEVER voted Democrat in a Presidential Election! But my Great Grandmother was a Kennedy and my Uncle Bernard Herlihy served as a Chaplain under President Eisenhower, when he was the NATO Commander in the late 1940’s! President Eisenhower and Vice President Nixon are the heroes in this story! For Joe Kennedy, through his political shenanigans, stole the 1960 Election in Illinois and Texas! But Nixon chose not to contest the election and let the results stand. He deserves great credit for a “Profile in Courage”! John Kennedy had his faults, but this speech shows that he was a great man and a great President! I commend him, but not his Dad!

Great film clip. I don't believe I have ever seen the opening 20-30 seconds or so of this film. Maybe I've never seen this precise film at all, but the beginning is both new and poignant to me. The gentleman at the very beginning, and who continues to show up prominently as others (JFK, CJ Warren, LBJ) pass in front of him is James R. Browning, then the Clerk of the Supreme Court and the person charged with holding the Bible while Kennedy took the Presidential oath. He was the last Clerk to serve that role. Thereafter, the First Lady has always held the Bible. Browning was nominated to be a Circuit Judge in the 9th Circuit later that year, two weeks before I was born. Years later, in 1987-88, I clerked for then Chief Judge Browning of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. He looks so wonderfully young in this clip.

So I ask, would there be anyone who after hearing this inauguration speech equate this to something we would hear today? Would these words come from the mouth of a president so enamored by himself as to disgrace the presidency to be impeached twice and later convicted of crimes? The answer is no. Are we as a nation so blinded by hate that we may not see the truth that stands before us? Let us go forth and be a nation of one, great and true, to bring peace to the world for those who have given the very sacrifice for which they intended. These words, spoken by a man who gave his very life for the truths he believed in, are before us. What shall WE choose?

I was so proud of JFK but this clip also brought sadness to me because I think what we have turned into.. However, with all my heart I believe goodness will win over evil and for those who have lost their way, perhaps they will remember what we stand for and understand our Country is the bright light, particularly in the darkness, for the world to always have hope we will survive. We encourage people to have differences so that we can compromise and improve life in so many ways. Let the majority be served and let the minority remind us what they stand for and formulate a plan of slightly different values to that we can also consider what we believe is the best for our people.
And, we must remember the world is shrinking and events taking place which cause harm and danger to people globally must be the deep concern of free people in foreign lands. Every situation can be dealt with as long as fair minded people seek a solution. Politics should take a back seat! An effort second to none must be the top priority of all nations and organizations to do even more to support the rights of human beings wherever they are.

@@T00THY_0RiFiCE I agree with Chris Wallace(and he has heard a whole lot more political speeches than I have!) it was absolutely stellar, it was exciting and it had such incredible strength and immediacy.
I have listened to the President's January 6th one-year commemoration speech again and again. And, with the possible exception of Hakeem Jeffries speech on the floor of the house two weeks ago, it is a speech like no other we have ever heard. Both of those speeches were brilliant, delivered by brilliant Americans
