I love how they're here performing in an empty Roman Amphitheatre, in the middle of a ruined city, playing only for the ghosts of the Romans, while the wind blows the sand and their long hair, while David cries to the ghosts with all his passion, communicating with them. Reenacting their woeful cries as they were engulfed in fire. This is what this performance means to me. This is why they're really here.

I'm Sorry but i must say there were hundreds of better drummer at that time...on this very performance he sounds improvising and continuosly interrupting the flow of the song with useless drumrolls...nothing against him but he maybe improved a little with The dark side...
All drummers of that generation were under shadow of incredible John Bonhem who was not just keeping the rhythm by beating the drums, but literally playing on drums like his bandmate Page on guitar

Without natural talent (like the Beatles had), or high skill and culture (like Keith Emerson or Genesis had), or a unique ability to learn (Ian Anderson), these guys made a ton of money and recognition from their duped listeners. They achieved everything with just show-offs and special effects. Hats off!

Even though I was born in 1972 Floyd was one of my favorite bands in high school and still is to this day. This version of saucer full of secrets always blew me away. I can only imagine the feeling that the folks had when this album first came out , hanging with friend, drinking and having a great old time.

Wonderful piece of music. Last July my father and my brother were at Nick Mason concert in Italy. He and his crew played this masterpiece and them came back at home in tears. One of my favourite of Pink Floyd

The raw talent and emotion of pink floyd performing live in front of a crowd of ghosts, in the ancient ruins of the amphitheater is second to none. This is pure emotion and a masterpiece.
Something about this song is you have to listen to the whole version. Not just 4 minutes of it. Its like reading only half a book. And if you read only half a book it doesn't make much sense. If you listen to the whole song it creates such a bigger and more satisfying feel to it. Its what makes Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd.

My friend Dave and I listened to early albums over and over during a 3-year period when we worked, went home, and smoked weed while listening to the world's best music, late 1960s early 1970s. Even though I was born in 1972 Floyd was one of my favorite bands in high school and still is to this day. This version of saucer full of secrets always blew me away. I can only imagine the feeling that the folks had when this album first came out , hanging with friend, drinking and having a great old time.

Wonderful piece of music. Last July my father and my brother were at Nick Mason concert in Italy. He and his crew played this masterpiece and them came back at home in tears. One of my favourite of Pink Floyd

Something about this song is you have to listen to the whole version. Not just 4 minutes of it. Its like reading only half a book. And if you read only half a book it doesn't make much sense. If you listen to the whole song it creates such a bigger and more satisfying feel to it. Its what makes Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd.

Was thirty years ago when i watched this man and his band play this live, it gave me goosebumps then and still does now... didnt know it at the time but i got to witness the greatest guitar solos in history
These guys are OMG good. I shouldn't be surprised to hear a track I've missed for so long, but it still happens. My friend Dave and I listened to early albums over and over during a 3-year period when we worked, went home, and smoked weed while listening to the world's best music, late 1960s early 1970s. Anyway, this Pompeii stuff is a wonder of the world. Thanks to you all.

God, I love this song. Piper's at the Gates of Dawn', Obscured by Clouds, Meddle, A Saucerful of Secrets, are all just perfect. Ummagumma is also great. Those albums never get old.
