Prophet SAW said that when you meet real friends of God, they will remind you of Allah.
When you just look at them your heart says Allah..nothing else comes to your mind.

For the real seekers of a shaykh, even if by chance you make wrong person your shaykh, but your belief is strong, Allah can guide you through that wrong person, or make that person a real shaykh just because of your belief. There is a very famous stroy of shaykh Abdul Qadir Jillani on this. If any1 is interested to know, kindly ask by commenting bcz it is too long and english is not my first language so I don't want to write if no one's interested 🤣🙈

Waiting for the story
Once there was a theif, X. He repented and decided to find a shaykh. He went on a path and thought whoever will be the first person on this way, he will accept him as his shaykh. With the will of Allah another thief, Y, came on that way. X ran towards him and asked him to guide him. Y was in shock that I am not your shaykh. I am a sinner. But X continued persisting that no, you are my shaykh, guide me. Y wanted to get rid of him and made an excuse that ok, I am coming, wait for me. Weeks passed by and X was waiting for him on that same path.
But on the other hand Y went to steal in the house of shaykh Abdul Qadir jilani.
When he entered the house, he became blind and could not see anything. He was unable to find his way out of the house and he eventually sat in one corner of the house.
One of shaykh's mureed came to him and told him that abdaal of an area has passed away. Shaykh put his blessed sight on that thief and raised him to the station of wilayat. Shaykh said: He is the new abdaal of that place. Y was shocked. While Y was going as a replacement of abdaal, he met X waiting for him on the same path. He hugged him and then guided him. So Allah turned a thief into wali due to the belief of his mureed. He didn't want to turn X empty handed from his path. SubhanAllah
