Quill spends most of the stores of treasure on weapons, the crew turns mutinous. Quill: I know what shall lift yer spirits, mates. How about we take a leisurely cruise to a hostile port, sail into a fierce storm, & top it all off with two weeks wandering around in the jungle? First mate: I do believe he's the worst pirate I've ever seen.
I think the thing I loved most about this game was the scale. It felt really satisfying just sailing around, exploring the massive open world that is the Caribbean, occasionally running out of food and supplies and starving when you try to sail through the middle and the wind changes. Needless to say, I eventually learned to just hug the land and stay away from the center of the Caribbean.
1:50:55 Well on the hardest difficulty the daughters are the best and cheapest way to gear up. You can get two things out of each one, and nothing doubles so it's realy great. How they look dosn't matter at all ;) everyone is beautifull in the eyes of a real pirate
You can definitely change town ownership in the game, though sometimes you have to attack it twice in a row to do so. I have a save file somewhere where I flipped every city in the game save 3 (one city for each faction, right next to each other) to English. It took a long time, but so worth it.
Tanzklaue Honestly if that's all you want, half the map starts out Spanish. Just make your way to Curacao, keep the Dutch happy, and intercept any Spanish attempts to capture it, so you always have a friendly port amidst treasure fleet after treasure fleet. I did play one game where the Dutch became super cranky with me for some reason or other (probably valid), so I sacked Curacao twice to convert it to English, and spent ages defending it from raiders and protecting ships carrying reinforcements from Jamaica. English Curacao was the biggest, wealthiest, best defended city on the map, but it got to the point that I was so busy intercepting continuous Spanish attempts to take it that I couldn't do anything else. Probably the solution there, in retrospect, is go visit all the pirate bases and tell them to raid the shit out of the nearest handful of Spanish cities. Man. Now I wanna play Pirates again. :P It's the one game I keep going back to, since the CGA version in the 80s.
First you said you won't attack immigrants, then you said you won't attack the french, after which you went on to attack french immigrants. Oh, the irony..
50 likes! That's my new record! Thank you, everyone! I'd also like to thank my mum and my father, my elementary school teacher and my high school head, my good friends Matt and Bob, and everybody else who helped me and supported me on this journey.
I know this is an old playthrough but if you use chain shot to shred the sails then switch to grape shot you can take anyone fairly easy. Alot of times I will just do grape shot as it doesn't damage hull or sail.
Faction after you take over ten of their ships: We hate you, gtfo Same faction after you take harass a faction they're at war with: We want to have your baby
You don't conquer cities, you don't duel guys on tavern for ransom, you don't track down treasure ships... But what you do is way, way more entertaining... Let's go, more blunder choices I find it great you try to accommodate your viewers choices even when they are a disaster for your game
I love your video brother.. I would love to see you play a real pirate game. Have you played the mount an blade game called Caribbean. It is amazing. You can actually fight with more then one ship and the battles are real time. Even boarding ships is big fights not just one vs one..
Quill18 ,you must try the game Pirates Odyssey-To Each His Own .This is best pirates game sim, with history and good different ships( plus uniqe ships).
Dancing can be a pain, you just have to do it over and over. Either save scum by docking, dancing, then loading the "arrival" autosave. Or start a fresh game and do nothing but attack the pirates while going port to port dancing with all the governors daughters from all the nations along the way.
I hope you play this game to the end, its so refreshing to someone play this (I myself just reinstalled it just a few days ago)... sally O ye ol pirate!
Very late, but the reason why you could either stay at Journeyman or drop to Apprentice is because your voyage actually sucked in terms of the plunder you had to split. If you went for the treasure, you would have had the option to go up in difficulty. It's all based on the gold your men take home with them.
reminds me a bit of Port Royale... same cartoonish style, kinda like The Sims, pirate style. IF the same style of balance applies, you should get a corvette or light frigate, and ditch the galleons, fluyts and pinnaces.... load up on explosive shot (if available, they're usually better than bare shot) and chains, and de-buff the enemy ship before boarding. the corvettes may have less guns and crew than a galleon, but they're crazy agile, and with chains and bombs you can pack quite a punch..... heavy brigs work too, as you probably know already :P same with the fencing.... if you see an enemy charging a strong slash, just quick-stab them and they'll often reset their move, or keep parrying and blocking their strikes and they'll just tire up..... pistols are a good choice if you want to end the fight quickly. and, I don't know if you can upgrade cannons, but often a medium cannon, like 16-p, is better than large cannons like 40-p or 50-p when approaching fortified cities, maybe if you storm the garrison you have a much better chance of having the town surrender, or at most, fight back with a few guards, instead of having to destroy the garrison and then storm the city... if you do, it's possible the guards will retreat to the city and make a stand. that, of course, IF the gameplay style applies.
Glad you mentioned Port Royale, because I was just about to go crazy trying to think of the other pirate game that stole all my time. In fact the two are so much alike, I get confused. as to which one was which.
bromixsr port royale is strategy-based.... you win by trading cleverly and creating some sort of self-sustained business. this one feels like more adventure-based... quests and allegiances seem to be the way to go. there's also Age of Pirates, or Corsairs, which is more action-based, and it shares a similar system for quests and navigation with this one. there's a pack for AOP2, which adds lots of charaters and ships from other pirate games, and lots of dynamic quests for trading, so you can basically have all three on one program with that pack :P
Just wait till they start pointing to the left whit the right hand during the dance parts. That is an absolute pain. Especially on higher difficulty when you dont get hints. That really fucked mew over when I was playing. Never seen it before and was caught of guard
I liked first game more, but it's Russian only. No limit on unique artefacts. More hyperspace. But they are similar enough and both are excellent games.
What I like to do is to kill of my crew before dividing the loot so everyone get a larger share and are more happy, just board and keep fighting for a while.
wow, the pc version had a land battle! i did not know that, I've only played the mobile version and the city battles are against the city cannon and settled by duelling the captain of the guard, the Pc version is much cooler. though i do say the iPad version is similar enough and is easy mode for someone who is new to that type of game.
"Such offenses shall not go unpunnished! Now let me introduce you to my daughter."
That was the punishment...
@Zé Luiz Farrapos MGTOW is just as bad as feminism dude but whatever floats your boat
You know a game is good when you can watch a video for 1 and a half hours, then immediately move on to the second.
Geometry Dash Llamadog ya
Llamadog same really
yeah when he said lets take a break I did not think the video would end I was surprised it had already been an hour and a half
It's a new sitcom: Everybody Hates Raymondo.
"First, we're gonna do our sister" -- Quill, 2015
Jamie Lannister would approve :)
2 years old video, and I find a recent misfits joke, fantastic!
At another point he said, "I need to dig up my sister."
The dancing was the whole reason I never played this game above "Journeyman" as a kid.
"No witnesses!"
French Governor: You... You have the ship right there you scoundrel!
*DRAWS SWORD* no witnesses!
I think the thing I loved most about this game was the scale. I get items from all those criminals they send me to fight
1:28:15 YOU SANK YOUR OWN SHIP...... 🤗😁😂 WTF I've never seen such a great series!!! This is amazing
You can definitely change town ownership in the game, though sometimes you have to attack it twice in a row to do so. I have a save file somewhere where I flipped every city in the game save 3 (one city for each faction, right next to each other) to English. It took a long time, but so worth it.
+Steve Pittman you should flip everyone to spanish, then plunder all the rich spanish ships that will be cruising about.
Tanzklaue Honestly if that's all you want, half the map starts out Spanish. Just make your way to Curacao, keep the Dutch happy, and intercept any Spanish attempts to capture it, so you always have a friendly port amidst treasure fleet after treasure fleet.

Why do I keep seeing a white ''dot'' going down the right side of the screen, at semi-regular intervals ? It's a little bit irritating...
Fuck you, now I notice it too.
I thought I was going crazy when I saw that
What has been seen cannot be unseen...
TheFifa107
That's Cthulhu's entry point into our world !
He must seal it or else we're all doomed !
Connor Drew Right i was like SHIT
I find it funny that I'm sitting here, six years after he played this game, yelling at the screen, "Don't do that you dumbass!"
First you said you won't attack immigrants, then you said you won't attack the french, after which you went on to attack french immigrants. Oh, the irony..
***** technically, yes. but it doesn't have the same "ring" to it, does it? :)

This is BEST game ever. I did have this in Amiga and now i have a PC version.
Hopefully there gonna be more Pirates games.
The dancing mini-game is why I almost always take charm as a skill. The rewards are great, and it is *way* to hard otherwise.
Thomas Scroggs One useful trick is to realize that the dance almost always ends you in the starting position, even if it is facing the other way.
"first were going to do our sister" - Quill18 2016
Aww yis, just got finished watching the first one.
lol at 16:40, the ship struck her colors yet he still gave it 2 more full broadsides. That's got to be a war crime
"Captain Quill our men are deserting"
"Argh, time for a hike in the jungle"
45:20 HAHAHA you attack the wrong ship!! 😂 This is hilarious!! You even had an option saying : "don't attack" 😂 this is a best of moment
I would definitely love to see as much of this as possible.
We're gonna get treasure, *"but first we're going to do our sister."*
xD Best Screw-Up Ever
I've heard of this game, but this is actually my first time seeing what it's all about and I think I would love it. Looks like a lot of fun to play.
47:50 - Your punishment is dancing!!
You didn't lose any loot, but you lost some goods and 91 men!!
I know this is an old playthrough but if you use chain shot to shred the sails then switch to grape shot you can take anyone fairly easy. Alot of times I will just do grape shot as it doesn't damage hull or sail.
Faction after you take over ten of their ships: We hate you, gtfo
Same faction after you take harass a faction they're at war with: We want to have your baby
If I need to dance so tediously just to get a girlfriend I'd rather be single for life.
1:28:00 lol
Dancing in this game is the damndest hardest thing I have ever had to do in a video game.
'I really hate the fact that numlock exists'
The nail on it's head man... The nail on it's head...
the frigates hold nearly as much cargo as the merchantmen, and are ALOT faster.
Thank you for these videos quill! The game is great and it's very entertaining to watch you play it.
Hey this is one of my favorite games! Keep these coming!
You don't conquer cities, you don't duel guys on tavern for ransom, you don't track down treasure ships... But what you do is way, way more entertaining... Let's go, more blunder choices I find it great you try to accommodate your viewers choices even when they are a disaster for your game
...and then that way, and then that way, and then that way...
Dude. This is, like, exactly what dancing irl feels like for me.
51:13
Ust Rotterdam! ``Ust''! XD
I seriously can't stop laughing :D
I love your Dutch, i really, really do :)
2 minutes into the video and I'm already thinking of playing a drinking game: that a shot whenever Quill says "and then that way".
I love your video brother.. I would love to see you play a real pirate game. Have you played the mount an blade game called Caribbean. It is amazing. You can actually fight with more then one ship and the battles are real time. Even boarding ships is big fights not just one vs one..
hah yes, two episodes this day. love it man!
This game is currently $2.50 on steam I'm so hyped for all the nostalgia
Dances with the beautiful daughter.."The questions is, do we divide the booty now....."
"First we are going to do our sister, I mean find our sister." - Quill18
why is there not a modern, more gory/realistic version of this!?
ajlunce Sid Meiers: Somali Pirates
Did you try Assassins Creed 4 Blag Flag?
but you can't invade towns in glorious turn based combat
should be a "Black Sails: The Game"
ajlunce not quite the same. but look up blackwake.
That random white pixel at 1:24:18 on the right side of the screen xD
I am enjoying this video as much as I enjoy the game itself.
Quill18 ,you must try the game Pirates Odyssey-To Each His Own .This is best pirates game sim, with history and good different ships( plus uniqe ships).
why sell the trade galleons they are great for hauling

so many good quotes in this one
in amiga version cities can have maleria... i don't remember there is case too
I hope you play this game to the end, its so refreshing to someone play this (I myself just reinstalled it just a few days ago)... sally O ye ol pirate!

dividbyzero1 Jup.
Quill, you should play Space Rangers 2.
It's a great space RPG that is somewhat reminiscent of this. It's on steam.
I liked first game more, but it's Russian only. No limit on unique artefacts. More hyperspace. But they are similar enough and both are excellent games.
Pop the Number lock Button OFF 8) I have micro switch buttons so the Cross is still there If I have to push it, rare do though.
The 'Sell All' button is a good thing.
One of the only grips I have is that you can not use your other ships in combat.
1:28:00 disaster strikes...
The music is in 3/4 just count 1 2 3 and on three hit the dance key
Really? I never realised... Then again im terrible at the dancing, the only real dancing for men is dueling!
with fists, bottles or knives. I totally agree.
looks like a fun game
Man, this mysterious traveler is just giving you all the worst stuff FIRST!
that little white cursor on the right .... keeps looking at me
Great series!!! :)
1:14 im just screaming FLANK
is there dancing in amiga's version?
Get the treasure first and loose some of your crew in battle without replenishing...give the crew larger cut
I think he forgot to cut the video... episode 3 is the same as the second part of this video.
1:41:44 OMG I laughed so hard :))
Bonjimate lucky as fuck, both in pirates and rimworld
I hate the dancing ... can`t I just loot and pillage instead.. lol
Sumudu Maligaspe yes. you can. The daughters are completely optional.
great videos man in a new subsciber but wish you all the best im enjoying your point of view will get the game thanks to you bro :)
What I like to do is to kill of my crew before dividing the loot so everyone get a larger share and are more happy, just board and keep fighting for a while.
Hey Quill, if you like this game, maybe have a look at Port Royal 3!
Treasure ship is good to get in the west as well...at the south-east is bad, because that is where they start...but of course, north-east is best
there should be a relation penalty if you wave the flag of a nation and they are not at war with your target.
Wow, is that a pint of rum?
I thinks it's diet coke
I dont understand, there is a city in the Carribean called EAST rotterdam?
I mean you can sail to the east and like 300 years later you will get there :D
wow, the pc version had a land battle! i did not know that, I've only played the mobile version and the city battles are against the city cannon and settled by duelling the captain of the guard, the Pc version is much cooler. though i do say the iPad version is similar enough and is easy mode for someone who is new to that type of game.
