Not too sure what i could add over what you've said! You were very aware of what happened as it went sideways. All in all a good game, you were always close to wining rounds due to very clean placements of units. I thought quick supply with Fang and Phoenix was a better opening pick and then if you wanted tanks you could have afforded them. Chaff, Anti Chaff, Anti Air, and Anti Giant from turn one and can expand whichever direction seemed to falter , or whichever way your opponent failed to cover quickly. I dont know how that would have played out for the turns to come, but im just thinking that turn 1 and getting ahead early As always editing is great, able to follow what is happening easily, make it easy to see which units you are talking about and what the bonuses / effects of things are. Wishing you the best of luck and all the Sledgehammers!
Thanks! Yeah, looking back at the starting options is always good practise. Think I'd play the same opening again but maybe change the position on the back crawlers slightly and not go so deep into Marksmen next time. Don't think we got to make particularly good use of the Speed Specialist here at all. Still need to be on the ball with my Stormcaller answers sooner and stronger though, has always been a weak spot for me!
Haha, not sure I could handle giving up the tanks for that long, but I should defo work on getting comfortable relying on Arclights early for chaff clear!
Elite snipers outrange stormcallers and I've had some luck with them, but going mass sniper would have scuppered you on the chaff. Might have been worth purchasing anti missile systems.
Yeah for the final round at the very least I should've given Anti Missile Devices a whirl. Was feeling a bit suck in the hole at that point, need to be more on point with my answers to Stormcallers and avoid playing a board that's completely exposed to their strengths.
Messaging here because I don't have a better way, do you have any interest in seeing other players replays? Regardless of whether they're interesting enough to make it into the channel. To make it more interesting, I have one of Tanks beating Scorpians. (Extended range + range tech vs Scorpians with just range tech and no seige mode in their options). Might be interesting as a tank lover.
@@erikvale3194 Always happy to watch interesting games! Tend to get sent a handful on discord every day but I've yet to commit to making a video using one. It's a bit less engaging to me when the outcome of the game is already known and you can't hear the reasoning behind the choices made as they're happening. Plus I'm a very analytical person, as you can see in my post game reviews. Think me analysing other people's games might come off as a bit harsh and don't want to cause offense to folks! :D
Real life comes first, words to live by! You never really seemed to have a good counter to those phoenixes. Sure, the marksman could take them down, but only after/if the chaff was successfully dealt with. Your range advantage into the scorpion mirror was great. I think I might disagree with editing DRN even; the phoenixes were a menace. Would a Vulcan have been simply deleted by the scorpions and phoenixes before it could have tipped the chaff in your favor? (though, that also would have needed the credits spent on upgrades)
i keep seeing you have issues with chaff vs tanks. specifically crawlers. I've found Mechanical rage on tanks is amazing chaff clear and great for marksmen defence
Great tech for them! Have been finding my Tanks don't live very long on the battlefield of late though so we've been less keen to invest in their techs, but yeah Mech Rage and Armour are the two techs I tend to go to for my Tanks. Depends on what role they're filling more in a given game and what our opponent is pressuring us with.
I'm only ~1600 MMR, still technically top 100 EU but well aware of my suboptimal play at the moment. Always takes me a while to adapt to a new patch! :D
Yeah, only real advantage is you can get them for free as starters with tanks really for quick levelling. Phoenixes tend to push you into Arclight openers, which are fine too, but I'll miss the front line if I commit to the change!
@@Drone_101 I’m with you in that I love tanks for my mid line. Except, if you spend too much time and effort developing them, they’re easily nullified in the late game. Good chaff or good scorps make them largely irrelevant (in my opinion) in the late game.
I think the idea is that phoenixes are supposed to be able to be hit with anti-air targeting even when they’re behind other stuff… but I’m not convinced that’s enough either. If marksman’s specialist techs worked better that might be something.
Honestly, why is fire stormcaller a thing? It invalidates so many units and all but forces you to go air. Ill admit that fire stormcallers is largely the reason i stipped playing this game. Even watching someone win off the back of fire stormcallers just invalidating all enemy chaff makes me mad.
If fire stormcallers weren’t in the game you would be complaining about mass mustang and giants with chaff spam strategies being too brain dead and easy to play, and you’d be right, because they would.
They're the game's answer to small stuff spam, which I get. Otherwise chaff swarms could get out of control. Was my mistake for not having an answer to them going sooner, or pivoting away from units that are vulnerable to them. Still hard agree they can be frustrating at times!
@@MasterSherwood001 but isn't the counter to that sledge and vulcan? With fire stormcallers the vulcan feels frankly vestigial, fire stormcallers do its job better. And with the fire badger we have yet another answer to small stuff spam, though it remains unnecessary because 4 stormcallers with fire eliminate all chaff. There is also arclights, but with hiw high economy the game is now they don't scale well enough.
@@Drone_101 isn't the answer to chaff swarms tanks or vulcans? What about arclights and mustangs? Wraiths, firbadger and the new super mustangs they added (forgot the name). It seems to me that we have tons of answers to chaff swarms, but fire stormcallers are so powerful that none of thise ever get used. I don't think removing fire from stormcallers would actually make chaff too strong, it would just lead to some currently underused units finally seeing some play.
Hey DRN! I didn't know that little icon (showing you how many units you have left to deploy) existed. Always stuff to learn. Great video!
Thank you!
My pleasure Jezza! Sorry I missed your 11th place finish tourney on Saturday, was busy running a half marathon with a friend :D
Our boy just loves tanks.

Yeah, I was putting too much hope on my MM this game. Needed a real answer to both the Stormcallers and the Phoenixes for sure.
HE'S BACK!
