    Brilliant race, reminds me of Gran Turismo :D As an owner of the Civic I could quite rightly say that with a fast road setup would have done wonders for the race, might have held the Clio RS till the end then.

    Fn2 is easily the best car in everyway - Tsuchiya is the only reason the RS won, best driver out of them all. RS is also a great car though

    The standard 500 Abarth has 130hp, the Abarth 500 Esseesse which is the one used in this video has 160hp. Power between US and EU/JDM is the same it just depends if its the normal one or the Esseesse :)

    Everyone says FN2 is crap because Clarkson in Top Gear said so... Although no one ever tried it. The throuth is: it is slightly slower because of the weight handycap and understeers a bit more. You barely feel the difference in the suspension setup because they made it rock hard to compensate.On the other hand it got better equipped and better quality for everyday use wich 99% of the people who bought it use it for! Want a track day car? Buy a Caterham.

    Love Hondas I have 2, Civic is a real drivers car; problem is everyone has one here in the US I cant wait to own something different. The US spec Abarth has a larger Turbo than the Euro SS the SS is just reprogramed to reach 160bhp. You can chip the US spec to hit 200bhp for $700.00 expensive I know but its the price to be different. Plus 30 mpg sweet

    Driving a clio rs for now 5 years and 120000.00 km. Nothing has fell off and this car proves to be a very reliable car. Never let me down. And the pedal goes to the metal a lot and the car still performes like it was new... Great car. sad they will stop producing the high revving clio...

    i had a R19 1,4energy and by my fault a left it without water cooling all the winter never had a problem and only at summer sinal the heat,very reliable and a car in front of its time in all[quality,engine performance reliability ,space,grip,comfort] still see on streets old clio and R19 but no golf polo corrola etc of its time.now i have a A4 [good car] but i always remember my R19

    And they not only good on track, they are fun to drive. You know, some cars are efficient on track but not fun to drive.. Renault is not like that, it have very good chassis, beautiful sound, load of power..

    That Clio is great. 200 hp in a 1200kg car is great fun. Chuck it into corners at 100mph and it's fine

    La Clio RS a 200ch sur papier et 185ch réel, Colt Ralliart 180 a 180ch sur papier et 197ch en réel. Ensuite, va voir le forum MRS3 : Clic Clic Clic dans compartiment moteur, Craquement passage de vitesse, Voyant INJECTION ET ANTIPOLLUTION qui s'allument, Problème Cardan coté conducteur, Problème frein : disques, Problème de climatisation, Leds Hs, grincement dans la malle arriere, Bruit au millieu du tapis Arriere, Fenêtre qui craquent, Defaut d'allignement entre toit en verre et pare brise,

    ( la suite:) Porte côté conducteur mal ajustée , Allignement pare-choc arriere coté droit, Problèmes de finition Mousse sur becquet, Couronne en trapèze autour du pot qui se fissure.. Après, tu peux penser ce que tu veux ça me fait une belle jambe.

    If the reliability range was not so bad (better than before,but far from the best),really,today I have a Renault. But I need a car that start every day, in winter and summer as it's brand new. I was looking for a car that is fun on track, reliable, easy engine tuning, cheap to use(Fuel, tiers, parts, taxes, etc..) manual gear. After trying lot's of cars(MeganeRS, CupraR, 3MPS, Bmw125i, CRZ, Polo Gti) I choice the Colt.. It was the closest to what I want and could buy..Yeah! BMW 135M ROCK'S!!! ;)

    ça fait 7 ans que j'ai ma Clio 3RS et aucun de tes problèmes énumérés ci-dessous n'ont touchés ma Voiture , j'ai eu pas mal de Renault et mise à part la Batterie à changer , elles ont toujours étés fiables , par contre mes 2 Golf GTI , elles ont eux pas mal de problèmes électrique , lèves vitres , boite de vitesses et volant Moteur

    I'm not saying every on e of them falls apart, but a higher percentage of them does. Btw, 5 years and 120k km isn't really a great deal, remember cars aren't SUPPOSED to break - it's merely doing it's job if it hasn't fallen apart.

    @CarCultureChannel megane rs, focus rs, leon cupra, golf gti etc are not all in the same class, the focus rs is in the class of the golf R, leon cupra R, and subaru impreza STI etc, wheras cars like the golf gti would be in the class of the focus ST etc, but you are right the civic would be in the class of the golf GTI wheras the clio is a class lower with cars like the polo Gti and seat ibiza cupra etc

    the civic is a much better car overall. The clio does slightly better on a track but with a lot of compromises

    Remember that the Clio is more than 100kg lighter than the Civic and it's driven by the main driver of BM i.e. he has to win.

      The infamous criticised Euro Civic-"R" is not that bad considering, IMO. It's got a lot more space inside than the Clio.

    At my last working place we had a Renault Kangoo for delivery.. ..that car fail 32x betwin 2003 and 2008.. At the first Renault garage we go, the boss have an old Mercedes 500sec. At the next one, the boss drive.. ... a Toyota Celica..

    I don't understand all the hate towards the FN2. Everyone goes by Jeremy's as if they are law. All this complaining about a torsion beam rear axle. The fastest production FF car around the Nordschleife the Renault Megane RS has a torsion beam rear axle as well. A simple tire swap on the FN2 eliminates the understeer.

    The Clio has a torsion beam rear end. So does the fastest FWD car in the world, the Renault Megane 265, which is only 2 seconds off an E92 BMW M3 around the Nurburgring. Torsion Beam rear end isn't a bad thing, if you set it up properly.

    The Clio RS (Lutecia for Japan ^^) is the best of his category like always ^^ and more here without to be the best version because the best version of the Clio 3 RS for the tracks is the CUP which would be in the 1st rank also but far away the classic version of the Clio 3 RS !! ^^

    I don't know what_you_compare it to but the Golf GTI was more expensive when it came out and the only upside of the Golf is the DSG gearbox for even more money.Also to me the Golf feels a bit out of style.Build quality may be a bit better but the Civic definitely doesnt feel cheap to me.JCW Mini S even worse value for money but at least it has a special feeling to it.Mazda 3 MPS more power but less in every other aspect and still way more expensive.Only thing the Civic was missing is an LSD.

    Porsche for the SuperCars & Renault Sport for the SportCars are not the most powerfull in the start but the 1st in teh end !! ^^

    In reply to this, Type R standard for Type Race which typically would involve a slightly more focused drive, which is what the EP3 delivered more than the FN2.
    The FN2 isn't a bad car by any standards but it isnt a true Type R in my Eyes.

    What? It's no true!! The Alfa 4C, do you remember? Engine with 250hp in alluminium, carbon chassis (700kg!), rear traction, 0-100 in 4,5"!!! And Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde? Maserati? Ferrari?
    Owever, the Abarth 500 is selling thousands of models in the world, the U.S. has had a great success and the sound is amazing! Japaniese cars? Unbelievable...

    I'm amazed how the "bad" civic held off the clio RS for so many time, I really though that the clio was a bit better and on top being driven by the king. Nevertheless good test, Know that I know the difference is not that big i'm thinking how it would end if they used the Civic Euro without the "plus" pack, meaning less 35kg. to be closer to the RS setup.

    well i,ve owned 200cup for nearly 3 years. not had one problem at all. only owned ST for 1 year had shit loads of problems. also owned TYPE R for a year also had build quality issues. don,t be weak mined. all my cars are owned from new. and the REANAULT is the only one not to develop problems. before i bought i was skeptical. but it,s been good to me. in the UK renault in reliability test have come higher than FORD,HONDA,VW,SEAT. topping the charts was SKODA shock er NO. don,t be a fan boy.

    Lol. I think we agree more than only one thing, because I guess you too, just as me, you are a car enthusiastic even before you could walk.. That true I come here to bashing on you about Renault but, you was all ready there saying how Renault is better than Honda.... Of course those new Renault is very efficient on track, I can say because I see it my self on track. Clio3 RS Megane 2 and 3 RS, they are amazing on track, even with a bad driver behind the wheel, is fast.

Recetlly I've read that Renault have improved they reliability aND, I was hesitated to buy a Megane3 RS which I could get for 28'500.- with all the discount (almost 10'000.-) they give to sale they trash box, i'I've try one and I have to admit that it a very good car to drive, it's powerful, it has a good sound, it was really great.

    Check out also what's kind of problems they have and what is the solutions to fix it.. There is many problems that Renault have no solution, and another that they could not correct from the Megan2 and Sénic2 as the air conditioner.. WTF???

      Clio has 200cv ala 197hp. If you take in to account the actual BHP of the engine, you're looking at 185-195bhp. Clio's rarely make book figures.

      Really the Clios are overquoted? Interesting. The Euro Civic are listed at 200bhp, but they make 207-209 bhp actually. [The Japanese Civic-R is listed at 225hp, but have been found to make up to 240bhp!]

La VERA ss è 2" al giro più veloce della 500 Abarth stock di questo video, che senso ha mettere in pista una povera 135cv con altre vetture da 180/200cv? È demenziale...
      Ti ricordo che la 695 biposto a Vairano ha girato più veloce di Fiesta ST da 200cv, Clio RS Trophy da 230cv e Min JCW da 211cv, tempi ufficiali Quattroruote, stesso collaudatore.
      Le prove si fanno seriamente, non ste buffonate...

    Renault's reliability is a complete fail... My old Civic MB6 (1997) have a Torsen also.. .. Honda put Torsen on his 5 doors family car.. 1.8 vtec (no Turbo,etc...) 169HP stock. Breaker at 8'300RPM. Hyper reliable it had 200'000km when I sold it. Renault?? That car is a total waist of money. No mater how fast it is on track. Buying a Renault is like a playing Russian roulette..

    A Kangoo from 2003 sure it fails - renault car's from before 2006 sucks - from later they are better.
    But fairly you can't compare a clio rs with a Kangoo.
    The clio rs is built in the alpina factory in Dieppe. The same factory where they built F1 cars...

    Fucking hell. hello old friend. we had a few arguments about 3 years ago. when i had an ST. since then i,ve had TYPE R [ FN2 ] which i loved. then traded it for 200CUP. i would never go back ever. as much as the type r was nice. and nice inside. once you,ve driven a 200cup you realise that TYPE R, ST are just another family run arounds [ FD2 ] isn,t. just marketed like the golf gti. it,s good at everything. where the renaultsports are exceptional at the track. don,t be so single minded.

    ....and what's more, everyone knows the euroTypeR is worthless as a racing car, whit a torsion bar suspension at the rear. It was made with the focus on interior space, commodities , confort, equipment! If they wanted to embarrass and be bias they could have picked the the fd2 civic....and it would have lapped the clio at least once in 5 laps.

    What nonsens. i drive a clio rs now for 5 yeares and 100 k miles - never had an issue. It starts every day winter -20 and summer +35 degrees.
    Never was broke or failed. Only cost i had was my yearli maintenance. But you need to drive it properly (when engine is cold i never rev above 3 k rpm)
    and still after 5 years the car and engine still rocks and pulls like it was new.

    And the EVO X is not my dream.. My dream is a BMW 135M. But if I buy that, I could not go to track day for the next 4 years.. So I have to find something cheaper and I almost do the stupidest thing in my life: buying a Renault.. Don't worry! The stupidest thing in your life was not to buy a Renault.. .. it was your birth.

    Anyway, where you see that Renault good reliability range?? Because if you check some UK site as “What car?” the 11 first cars are Asian.. ..the 7 first is Japanese, and Renault is only on the 33th place.. That is a fact. So it’s true Renault is a very efficient car on a track, but in terms of reliability is a total joke.

      I actually really like my cooper s. The handling is great and just minor mods I have seen them beat Porsches on a road course and catch up and beat some race prepped M series beamers. So I would say the car is not bad. 8^D

    IS NOT THE ABARTH SS VERSION!! IT'S AN ERROR!!The 500 Abarth show in this video, is a stock version with only 135hp,NOT 160!The real SS version take around 1'13"on this track,not 1'14"!This test is fail...

    Potevano usare la mini da 184 cv!!! Cmq dipende molto da chi gira per primo alla prima curva se si perde troppo tempo poi è difficile recuperare!! Ma che figura di m.....a la abarth!!!!

    hey! do you know how to read! do you even know what "held" means? I said that the Civic held the Clio and that is in a negative comparison, because what this means it that the civic is slower and was holding the other cars... Duh! I know that the clio is faster, and that's what I said, if you don't know how to read in english that's no my problem. Still, it's my belief that they should have used the Type R plus, to make it more similar to the other setups here.

    This Abarth IS NOT THE SS!! It's a Stock verson with only 135hp!! This test is not real!! The Abarth 595/SS have 160hp and the 695 have 180hp!!

      Peccato che qui han provato una 135cv, non una esseesse! E tutte le altre concorrenti avevano minimo 50cv in più, addirittura alcune con 200cv! Facile vincere così!

    Better quality and equipment for every day use compared to what? Civic feels like a cheap toy compared to its main competitors from Europe, and its more expensive.

    I love honda cars, but i have to admit that the "new" euro Type R was a total fail... it has the same HP of the old EP3 and it weighs way more, more than this the suspension setap is worse than the one on the EP3...
    And as many people said,that's not a 500 Abarth SS (for exemple you can get it from the wheels, the SS kit include special wheels)

      The Abarth of this test is not the SS because: 1) not have special SS wheeels, 2) The height of the vehicle is too high in relation to the road (specially rear!) 3) The real SS take 1'13"00 at Tsubuka Circuit (Magazine test), over 1,5" faster than 500 Abarth stock with 135hp! However, the other cars of this test have much more power! What test is it??

      ""new" euro Type R was a total fail... " It's fun enough IMO. Plus it's way more practical and has all the luxury toys. Sure it's really a Type S but IMO don't knock it til you try it! IMO it's just as fun to drive on the public roads as a K-swapped EG, since you can get more to the limits of the Euro Type R, whereas the swapped car is too capable to get anywhere near the limits -- both in the corners and it has massive wheelspin near the redline even in second gear!

    Its not fair, the civic have a higher cc than the abarth, and the abarth only produce 135hp since its not the esseesse version..

      +Brodey Dover so then you should compare the fake (Abarth build true race cars N/A not turbo so...) "Abarth" against a lightened Civic, CLio, etc. because they are "almost" all the same displacement and still the turbocharged ones couldnt get rid of the n/a cars.. Ive seen Clios III RS 2.0 16v smoking 155hp Alfa mitos wich still is lighter than the Clio. If you want to really try a theoretical real comp. you should get cars in the same weight order and if there are turbo engines against n/a engines then turbos should have way less displacement, but this are tests just for having some fun so they tent to be pretty subjective.

      +Hanif43 I did.. and again try your "abarth" with TTC or any sport mode you want against an unfortunately no existing 1030kgs Clio RS 2.0 (instead of 1280kgs.) and see what happen! unfortunately we will never know... or maybe you can try that Clio or Civic against the 211hp jcw Cooper to get a little more equal head to head comp.

    The 500 Abarth of this video is a stock version with only 135hp, IS NOT THE SS!!! It's an error!!! What test track is it??? This video compare some cars with very differebt power and specific, this test is very stupid!!! Why your don't compare other version of the 500 Abarth? You try the 595 Turismo, Competizione, Kit Elaborazione 595 or 695 Biposto, and see your japanise in last position, the same for Clio RS...

However, why they have not tried a 595 or 695??? Why they tried a stock version with ONLY 135hp?? What test is it? So let's also a Panda that we already!!       Pandemonium Lig the real esseesse has different wheels, height from the asphalt, you clearly see in the video that is not a esseesse version, is only entry level version with less power! This version was compared to cars in its segment, for example Twingo RS or other little citycars! You see the serious comparative test made by FifthGear, this is a very test! Why in this test have not tried a more powerful version? The real esseessee have 160hp, the 695 Tributo Ferrari have 180hp and the 695 Biposto have 190hp for only 900 kg of weight!! Let's try this and then we'll see...

    For me the best small sport car is the 695 Abarth Tributo Ferrari with 180hp! It's a very beautiful car! The Honda Civic is very ugly for me...
    The italians sports car are the best in the word! Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa romeo, Abarth, Lancia...not the Japanise cars, without history and charm...

    Try this race again with drivers who can shift within the cars power bands. The guy in the mini was in the wrong gear several times - surprised if there wasn't damage to the gearbox or engine by the end of the race.. The guy in the Clio was constantly putting power down with the clutch engaged in corners.. Shameful!
